If you’re looking for an all American dinner Neptunes is the place to go. They have great food, and the service is great. Our waitress knew what she was doing and was a sweetheart. If I’m ever in the area again I know where I’m going for a bite to eat

Stopped in here for breakfast. Food was excellent and so was the service! I can’t speak for other meals, but if you come in here for breakfast, you won’t leave hungry! Large portions! Will definitely be back.

My girlfriend and I returned to the Neptune Diner for dinner on Saturday, August 29, 2015. I had a cheeseburger deluxe for $ 10.25. I opted for a baked potato instead of french fries. I ordered my burger medium rare, but it came as(at least) medium. Additionally, both sides of the burger were a bit too charred(blackened). The burger was allegedly 8 ounces, but even after allowing for shrinkage during cooking, there is no way that my burger was ever 8 ounces. The potato was okay. I opted for the salad bar which was an additional $ 3.95. At the salad bar, they had a rather sparse selection of iceberg lettuce. Also, they didn’t have any cucumbers, so I had to ask for them. They were also out of blue cheese dressing and had to request that type of dressing. Their corn salad was rather nasty tasting.

I have to give it 3, as my challah french toast was a 5, but my dc’s omelet was a 1. Service was also a 5.

When I’m falling asleep, I often sing to myself. I call it a «Naptune.» My Naptunes have become so famous that there is now a diner dedicated to them. I was delighted that this place existed on the way from Binghamton to Albany, because otherwise I’d have gone without food after one of the best concerts of my life, and that would never do!(Some people have real problems.) I ordered the Chicken Souvlaki because the guy told me to. It was pretty good. It wasn’t world-shaking or life-changing, but it really did the trick since I was starving. It was a little overpriced, I think it set me back more than 10, but I still really enjoyed it, and I love that this diner is open late… or used to be. They have an excellent salad bar too. And I must add, the guy serving me — an older guy — provided magnificent service and made me very excited to eat the food, which I was anyway. For this additional extra, I’ll give a 5 star.

Grilled chicken salad, chicken dry, perhaps overcooked. Salad itself fine, not soggy. No complaints about service, décor etc.

This diner has the most amazing cheesecake I have ever had in my life! Be sure to check out the chocolate cheesecake, it is to die for! The place may need a facelift, but the owner and most of the staff has been there for years and makes you feel like family. They are very accommodating and conveniently located

Crappy diner food. Not going back. Had a burger with fries and it was mediocre.

Stopped here for a quick breakfast sandwich to go since they serve it all day and it was on the way. Here’s the quick and straight to the point review: — Service — Woman at the counter displayed mediocre customer service. — Food — Ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese on a wrap with home fries(a menu special). Food was nothing special. It was something anyone could’ve whipped up in their home. With that said, I eat out to get food I can’t quite make at home. — Atmosphere — Your typical diner style, dated but decent. A plus, they have Dum Dum lollipops for free at the front counter.

After a day filled with countless hours* lost in a corn maze, picking pumpkins, and having some guy say«I want your skin» in a haunted house, we were all pretty famished. There was no way we’d make the 90 mile drive back to NYC without grub, so we performed a Unilocal backed Google and discovered Neptune Diner not far from where we were positioned on I-87. We piled into the diner and were immediately seated at a booth. Perusing the menu, you had your pick of typical diner fare. My wife ordered the french onion soup, which a fellow Unilocaler hyped as being the best onion soup she had ever had. My friend ordered a chicken club sandwich with potato pancakes, and I went with a standard cheeseburger with fries. The French Onion Soup: It was good, but it was in no way the best, not by a long shot. Solid, but that’s all I’m giving it. Bonus points on the croutons having a little extra crunch to them even towards the end of the bowl. Though I don’t know if that means they were extra extra stale to start off with, but they didn’t taste that way! Chicken Club: Ada D. seemed to really like it! Potato Pancakes: I’ve definitely had better. And they didn’t automatically come with sour cream and apple sauce. Cheeseburger: It did it’s job in satiating me, but I’ve had better burgers at other diners. The patty was pretty flat. The fries were good though, and they include a couple onion rings alongside it! Service was pretty good! ___________ *2 hours. That’s how many hours we were stuck in that maze. It was amazing though.: D

I’ve beengoing to the Neptune Diner now for better then4 years. Food is excellent one of my favorite dinners is Calamari over Linguini. More than you can eat as I end up taking home enough for a second meal. Great place for breakfast and making new friends. Service is excellent. Stop in and see for yourself. Us old timers like to sit at the counter. Frank G.

I went to the Neptune diner before shopping at a mall, and there were a couple problems. It took too long for the waitress to take our orders, and she kept saying she would be right with us, and then walk away. It took 30 minutes for her to bring a couple of hamburgers. She took a long time to serve us, again saying it will come shortly, and not bringing it and the food wasn’t that good. Mediocre at very best. All in all the food was OK and the service was not very good.

Stumbled upon this place after missing lunch while waiting for service at a nearby car dealership. It isn’t much to look at from the street but once inside it was comfortable. The menu was pretty standard diner fare with the usual breakfast(steak, eggs, pancakes, etc.), lunch(turkey, roast beef, pastrami, etc.), and dinner(home style turkey, steaks, chicken, shrimp, etc.) I had the chopped steak with mashed potatoes and the daily veg(peas) and was pleasantly surprised to find it came with soup or salad. I went with one of the daily soups(navy bean). The soup arrived immediately and I was offered a bread basket at the same time. The soup was hot and tasty and the egg bread in the basket was fresh as were some breadsticks also in the basket. It seemed likely that both were made on premises. The chopped steak arrived solo on a plate topped with a few onion rings and the mashers and peas arrived in separate bowls. Since a good chopped steak should be swaddled in mashed potatoes I proceeded to dump them on the plate and since I’m partial to mashed potatoes and peas, I dumped them in the mix. Add more brown gravy that arrived promptly when requested and Yum… perfect comfort food. The potatoes and steak were hot and delicious with the steak cooked to order. The only weak link was the onion rings that despite a tasty beer breading were a bit soggy by the time I got to them. They were a bit over the top in the scheme of things. This was an all round good diner experience. For those that want more flavor, the place is surrounded by national chain highway exit restaurants that load their offerings with salt, sugar and fat. Neptune diner doesn’t do that and instead lets the flavor of the food do the talking.

Service was a bit slow and our server wasn’t the friendliest. The food was also bland, and lacked real seasoning. My guess is many items were packaged frozen food. The only star if the meal was the potato salad. It was a perfect consistency and had a little something extra that made the flavor pop.

This is your average diner, with just a few items that’ll bump it up or down. Bump Up: 1. It’s conveniently right off 84, and quite close to the Thruway as well. 2. There’s a salad bar. 3. The open-faced reuben I got was far tastier than I had imagined. 4. The older woman who was our waitress was motherly in her concern for our well-being. Much appreciated. Bump Down: 1. The salad bar is weak. 2. The honey mustard and the BBQ sauce are both awful, which means chicken fingers(normally a solid diner order) isn’t a good call. Push: The crabmeat is featured on the vegetarian menu. I really just wanted to point that out. By my math, the Neptune deserves that extra star.

This place was similar to many diners in New York. Huge menu, cheap prices, mediocre quality food, and old. The chocolate milk had the chocolate sauce stained on the glass, assuming the waitress made it herself was nice. The cranberry juice was poured out of the machine into a kids like cup. The eggs and cheese on a hard roll was great, the home fries were blah, seemed like it was powdered at first and mixed with water.
