Stopped in this joint on my way to a YEE, and decided to see what this place was about. I was starvin’ Marvin, and needed some nourishment. So what better to fill my tummy with than a scrumptious bagel with lox and veggie cream cheese, and a slice of wonderful carrot cake??? The sammich was the absolute shizzle-dizzle. Loved it. Tore it UP. Tore it DOWN. I just tore that bih all around. The carrot cake was so dense, moist, and decadent. The red velvet cookie that I had, on the other hand? Eh. I think it may have just been a bad cookie day. Considering that most places nowadays don’t make hard cookies any more, I would go out on a limb and just say that maybe they held those cookies in stock too long. Aside from that, the staff was amazingly friendly and helpful. LOVE them. I’m back any time I’m there.

The employees there are SO rude and inefficient. You will see about a half dozen people behind the counter but maybe one is helping customers. They hire urban people who have a complex about waiting on other people. This whole place is SO dysfunctional.

Nice n clean. Friendly team. As I say a please and a Thank You will get you first class service. The only set back and it is not the fault of the crew, is the constant amount of homeless people comming asking for money. The dont want food but money. Dont let this stop you from getting that pippin hot cup of coffee.

My first reaction: OMG where us this from?! I have not actually gone here but recently my marketing director has been bringing in a lot of yummy goodies & she last purchased cookies from this bakery. When I walked in the office and saw the cookies at reception I thought they were cute because they had smiley faces on them. I said ah I’ll try one later. Then I got hungry and grabbed one after that one cookie I finished a whole container by my self. The cookies were called little Chinese cookies and they were so delicious! I’ve heard many great things about this bakery. While I can’t comment on pricing, customer service or cleanliness at this time I can say that the cookies I tried were delicious and I do intend on purchasing from here in the near future. I would recommend others to try this place out as well.

The young woman at Zaro’s at Newark Penn Station turned my relatively stressful and busy morning into a great one. I can never say enough about how kindness and great spirit has an effect on ppl. I was in such a rush on way to train, I’m remiss in not capturing her name, but to those from Zaro’s who read these reviews, she deserves something for her great attitude she shows to customers.

I got a soft pretzel and honestly by far the worst possible thing I’ve ever had. Not only was the outside hard(excusable) but it was all crumbly, dry and disgusting. Maybe they gave me a week old pretzel or I’m not sure they understand what a soft pretzel is. I’ve always found most of their baked items reasonable, its never been a «wow» anything, this pretzel just put them in the avoid category.

We were heading out to the World Trade Center and needed a quick breakfast. I didn’t realize that the PATH won’t allow you to eat on the train but my group of 14 was able to get a muffin, bagel or pastry to go within 10 minutes. There was a homeless/panhandler begging for money, and the staff did their best to tell the woman to go away. I guess it was on deaf ears because the beggar kept pestering us. I would stop here again. The coffee was hot and decent, and my bagel was nice and full of cream cheese goodness.

Out of all of the options at Newark’s Penn Station, this is definitely one of the best ones(unless you want a once frozen donut from Dunkin Donuts!). Lots of choices for breakfast and lunch, and the desserts always look super impressive. I knew I would need a snack for the 6+ hour train trip back to Richmond, and since I packed some fruit for the road, decided to splurge on a(gigantic) red velvet cookie with white chocolate chips baked in. It was pretty good — parts on the outside seemed a bit too crunchy(almost made me wonder how long the cookie had been sitting out) but the inside of the cookies with pretty soft and chewy. The service, though, was fantastic. Really friendly staff working!

Ordered 140 small black and white cookies for wedding favors. The order was in full, on time, and at a very reasonable price. Would certainly do business with them again and really want to try some holiday themed treats. Also, the black and white cookies are AMAZING

Zaro Zaro where would I be without my Zaro. Its pretty much perfect. all around. In the mornings when your rushing through Penn Station and being bumped and pushed all around racing to work, Zaro’s is a welcomed brake. The staff is warm and welcoming and quickly remembers your favorite order. They ask about your morning and wish you a happy day. The food can sometimes take a moment to be ready — and they are always eager to hold mini conversations with you. The food. Its moderately expensive for breakfast — but its worth it and pretty much the only type of its kind in the Penn Station. Their breakfast sandwiches on croissants taste fresh instead and look great behind their glass case. Its all about the experience with this place. You want a perfect pastry and a warm sandwich in the mornings. a friendly smile and warm hello to start your crazy busy day. And then the afternoon– hell the scent of their popcorn fills he entire train station.

Surprising to find such a great bakery in Penn Station Newark! Prompt very friendly service, delicious coffee, & a nice selection of tasty & attractive treats. I had to hold myself back from getting a box of pastries for clients I was visiting in DC — but it would have been annoying to carry them. Newark Penn Station has certainly gotten nicer!

Amazing desserts — Croissants, Danishes, cupcakes, pastries n more… You could start with their cheese Danish and chocolate croissant! The onion pocket was pretty good too!

Not bad. They roast the bagel well. Cream cheese options are plain, vegetable and scallion. I had scallion and it was tasty. Good customer service.

It’s average, for what you’d expect in Newark train station(that should tell you enough!) not too shabby. I needed a quick sandwich to grab in between trains, but didn’t want a nasty burger or fries. The sandwich shop next to the liquor store had a line and slow unresponsive employees, so I went across the hall to Zaros. Here I ordered a veggie panini, they heated it up in the giant toaster and it was pretty good. Had melted cheese, lots of zucchini chunks, some eggplant and tomatoes. Overall pretty good, but the panini plus an Honest Tea cost $ 10, so kind of a rip off.

The oatmeal here is sssoooo addictive. I have no idea what they put in it but it taste so good! I usually get it when ever I’m in newark pen station. Which I think is the only zeros that sell it since I’ve been to zarros in NYC and they haven’t idea what I was talking about.

I can’t complain. I needed lunch after getting off the train at Newark Penn station, and hoped for something reasonably healthy. The tuna garden salad fit the bill, although I probably ruined everything by also getting an almond horn. The tuna salad was nice — a really generous serving of tuna, cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, red peppers, and really delicious croutons on a bed of crisp, good-looking lettuce. Everything was tasty and fresh, which is hard in a prepared salad. Then I went for the almond horn, which weighed about 15 pounds(ok, more like 1, but it was very heavy!). It was good — chewy on the inside, crispy on the outside, with that shiny non-chocolatey chocolate on the ends, which were unfortunately a little overcooked. I would have preferred an even stronger almond flavor, but it was still pretty darn enjoyable.

I usually hit this spot in Newark Penn Station in the morning when I want a hot cup of Lavazaa coffe. They have bagels that are quite good. Best thing in Penn Station Newark, which is Dante’s Inferno on a good day.

Overpriced bagels, usual zaro fare. Note: The egg/cheese sandwich is easily the worst egg and cheese sandwich I have ever had in my entire life. Easily.

Stopped in on my wait between the PATH and train departure. This spot is conveniently located at Newark penn station which connects the light rail, bolt and njtransit buses and the njtransit and PATH trains. If you’re not in the mood for fast/processed food, this spot is pretty good. A small coffee and sandwich come to $ 5 or so(more if you get fancy stuff or paninis). Coffee was hot, but the French vanilla didnt pack much caffeine to last the trip. It also wasn’t manhattan hot(you know what I mean … At least your throat does) which was also good. Would try the bagels out next time as they had a good variety. This spot also has a lot of variety — from your normal morning baked goods(cookies, brownies, donuts etc) to sandwiches(egg and cheese, various paninis), salads as well as baked goods to go(last minute gifts!?). Service was quick and not too pushy, which was good. Overall, good for a quick bite or baked goods between commute stops if you’re at Newark penn. I wouldn’t go out of my way for a bite here though.

Stopped by to grab a quick breakfast while waiting for the train. They carry good variety of bakery goods right from bagels, turnovers, muffins etc. I tried the Croissant with egg and chesse which was good. Service was good.
