Vino Volo

As others have stated, this place has a decent wine and craft beer selection, with wines starting out at $ 10/​glass and craft beers (Flying Red) starting at $ 6/​bottle.
Know that, you cannot just approach the bar and order from a server. Instead, you must use their iPad ordering system which is being installed in most restaurants at EWR airport. This iPad is great, as it allows you to order food or drinks, keep track of your flight’s departure time and also surf the web, the problem is that, the iPad app they’re using is not at all intuitive or user friendly, and at least 2 of the iPads on the evening I was here were malfunctioning, so the staff would need to give a temporary replacement from behind the bar to those patrons.
The iPads ask you to first enter your flight information before you can order food or drink. Great idea in concept as they’re trying to help you track your flight and departure time, but if you don’t initially understand why they’re asking for that info, it can be a bit offputting; Though you can get around that step and place orders without entering your flight details the process to do that isn’t intuitive at all. After entering your flight info, you are then shown a menu that asks you to select which category you want to order from (wines by the glass or bottle, cheeses, cocktails, food, beers, etc.). Once you’ve selected everything you wish to order, you swipe your credit card on a device at the top of the iPad. This sends the order to a computer behind the bar and cues the barman to pour your drink or get your food order, and he then delivers it to your table or seat at the bar. Auto gratuity is included.
Again, I think they need to work on the iPad app to make it much more user friendly. Also, while it’s nice to be able to search the web and read the news using those iPads after you’ve placed your order and while you’re eating/​drinking here, it also takes away from the interpersonal communication and interaction with other patrons, which is half the fun of coming to a bar in an airport at times. I personally had to help 2 patrons place their orders as they didn’t understand how the thing worked, and at least a few commented that it was an odd experience with all patrons keeping to themselves, entrenched in the content on the iPads rather than interacting with those seated around them. I selected one of the $ 11 glasses of wine, and when ordering, it gave me the option of getting an additional ½ glass for only $ 2 more, so the pricing is fair IMO.

The only negative thing for me to say is that this place no longer exists at the Newark Airport in Terminal C under this name. In the location that housed Vino Volo is now a restaurant named Oeno. Submitted a review of the new place on Unilocal.

Decent wine selection. The food is on par in terms of price for airport food and it was pretty good. I had ordered a glass of pinot with my brie, fig jam sandwich. It’s a nice place to eat while you wait for your flight.

It’s probably the best bar in the airport.
I tried pork tacos and their dessert. Very tasty! You don’t need to wait long for you food.

Great selection of wines and good small meals. I had the Syrah flight and they were all very good. The waiter was very knowledgable and helpful in making my choice. I wish the loyalty program was more reasonable and had better incentives.

Try the Alexander Valley Cabernet if u like lots of flavor. The lamb meatballs are great. They should improve the chicken salad. Grill it fresh so it’s warm would be a huge improvement. Ill give them a 4 if the salad was better .
Also the service is top notch!

There’s not many places to go sit and relax while in the Newark airport. Newark is definitely not the world’s greatest airport, so this little wine bar is an oasis while you are waiting to get in route to your next destination. With quick, on the ball and friendly staff as well as a lovely list of wines coupled with super comfy leather chairs, I am so happy that I found this place to chill in.

Pissed off after my experience a Gallagher’s, my favorite Tumi sales gal sent me over to Vino Volo for a drink. What a fabulous store. The bartender greeted me like an old friend and the entire staff were equally friendly! The food menu looked good. I’ll be a regular there!

Great place to try wines from around the world. They have Vino Volos in a lot of the major airports. Some have space to set up the laptop & free Wifi; perfect for those of us who travel for business. This one, unfortunately, does not. But the wines are very good & you can taste 3 for around $ 15 or so. The wine list is changed regularly. The good is generally very good. Try the tomato soup. Use the app to find the location. Scan your receipts & earn points.
Since I travel for business, I usually make a point of trying wine from the region where I’m headed.

I need more time to drink, I tried this bar ones and here I’m a client came over and over because I do like their wines.
I usually order Pork tacos and cheese plate with fig jam, cranberries and nuts it was quite tasty and brisk.
Sometimes, I take a bottle with me when I’m leaving, I think the price wasn’t that match when we are talking about good wine.

Vino Volo is a tiny wine bar located in terminal C, just across from Gate C73, in the Newark airport.
The place is small and cozy and plays nice music, the kind of place that let’s you forget you’re actually at an airport.
Vino Volo has a very good wine selection offered at decent prices. They also serve some gourmet appetizers and plates, although portions are small.
This is indeed a comfortable place that offers interesting wines, however I wouldn’t suggest it if your goal is firstly having a meal and secondly accompanying it with a good wine. This is a place to have a glass of wine and a snack.

One of the better airport concessions. Pretty good selection of wines at semi-​reasonable prices. There always seems to be room in the seating area and the service is nice by Newark Airport standards.
I did not try the food but I am willing to upgrade my review (or downgrade) after trying some if the menu items.

Having eaten elsewhere, but having more time to kill, I ventured in here and sat at the inviting bar. Perusing the wine list, I knew quickly I wanted to be taken to Italy via wine flight.
I was whisked away quite nicely. Loved all three of the red wines. Service was very friendly. It was just what this gal needed before boarding a 6-​hour flight!

If you are in the hellhole that is Newark, Vino Volo is your oasis. The staff is very nice and attentive, and will make recommendations if you’re on the fence about which wine to order. The food is the standard Vino Volo fare, which personally I find quite tasty. My chicken sandwich arrived at my face within mere minutes of me ordering it.
My only beef with this location is that it can get cramped and crowded, but I blame that more on Newark than on VV. [*Shakes fist at Newark Airport.*]

Vino Volo is a magical place in the Newark Airport. After entering, an aura of invisibility cloaked me which enabled the waitstaff to ignore me with impunity. I sat patiently reading for 15 – 20 minutes without as much as a nod from any of the wait staff.
Finally, my patience (and invisibility) wearing thin, I flagged down an amiable waiter and placed my order for a glass of wine and taco appetizer. Within a few minutes my Zinfandel arrived. It tasted diluted.
After another 20 minutes I had to flag down the waiter again to enquire about my food order. He returned a few minutes later and said, «I just put that order in for you.» What? Seriously? No apology? No, let me offer you another glass of wine? Nothing.
5 minutes later, the taco arrived… lukewarm. It tasted fine. Nothing special.
Fortunately, I had time to kill due to a flight delay. Not everyone who eats at an airport restaurant has that luxury. I’d suggest skipping Vino Volo, and heading someplace that understands customer service.

These spots are great places to grab a bite and a glass of wine at the airport. I had a wonderful charcuterie plate and salad before a long flight. The Newark location is perfect for a business traveller with many seats near power outlets. Good service and comfortable seating make this location a 5 star airport dining option.

This is about as cool as an airport gets. With Natalie Merchant and Don Henley on a kick ass stereo, fine wines by the glass and reasonably priced food. I got a Pinot Grigio ($ 8) and a small bowl of olives ($ 3). Worthy.
Rather than hitting the McDonald’s at Newark, come with your book and snuggle up with a glass of wine.
Very comfortable leather seats, its also a good place for a snooze.

We had a 2:30 flight, so thought we’d grab a quick bite at the airport prior to boarding. We settle on This place after not seeing a Mexican place in our terminal (there is one, just not an obvious name). We both like wine, so thought this would be cool.
The good:
* Wins choices are by the glass of per flight (tasting). That is pretty cool, thought I don’t believe you get a much in alight as per glass. I got a flight of Pinot Noirs. It was cool to see how varied the same wine can be from different vineyards and from different parts of the world
* Wine is a decent way to make flying less stressful.
The bad:
* Very small portions. You may also want to grab a little something extra for your flight.
* Pricey, especially for the amount of food you get.
* Service is very average.

The food at Vino Volo wasn’t great, but it was far better than any of the other dining options at the Newark Liberty Airport. If Vino Volo was located outside of the airport I would drop my review to three stars because the prices were a tad high considering the quality of the food (or lack of). When you consider that the airport kiosks charge $ 2.50 for a bottle of water $ 10 almost seems like a bargain for a glass of prosecco.
The wine menu was several pages long and offered an impressive selection of wines by the glass, flight, or bottle; ranging from light bodied Pinots to full bodied, bold Cabernets and interesting blends. The selection of wines would appease most wine connoisseurs without overwhelming a wine novice. Most of the wines ranged from $ 10 – 25 per glass.
I ordered the croque-​monsieur sandwich and a glass of prosecco. Considering airport prices my sandwich was reasonably priced at $ 13 and came with a generous heaping of kettle cooked chips. The meal arrived minutes after I ordered which would have been good if I was in a rush. Either the kitchen was on their «a-​game» or the food was pre-​made. (I’m going with the latter.) The kettle chips were not hot and did not taste freshly made. My sandwich was fine, but kind of bland in comparison to other croque-​monsieur sandwiches I have had in the past.
If I came across another Vino Volo at the airport I would definitely stop in for a glass of wine, but I might skip the food for some cheese and charcuterie instead.
