Coffee and peanuts the basic needs in life they roast both beautifully and dried fruit and candles. The aromas will put you in a state. Can’t go wrong in this place they have k-cups and a bunch of roasts. Old school and good.

My family lived near Newark for all my years growing up, in the 1970’s and beyond. That was well before the rebirth of coffee on the east coast. Even then, we had a friend who knew that TM Ward was THE place to buy coffee. For years, we would put our order in with his to buy his personal blend of coffee. Fast forward to this century and I now live in Tampa. I was desperate for good coffee at reasonable prices. TM Ward fits that order perfectly! I order delicious beans both single origin varietals and nice blends, in whole bean, shipped to me in Tampa. And prices that are better than local even with shipping included. My favorite is Justice Samuel Alito’s custom blend. The story goes that while we was a federal judge in Newark, his clerks wanted to do something special so they had Ward’s create a blend just for him. Now we can benefit from their gift as well! Order $ 50 worth to get free shipping, and thank me later.

This little coffee shop is the sweetest spot in newark. It was here since the 1930s and is one of the oldest coffee shops in nj. When you walk in, you will see tons of beans and a whole shelf of various teas. There are little snacks as well, so you can spend some time buying coffee, teas, and various snacks. I love to get whatever is on brew, but like the jersey garden roast! If ever in newark, gotta check out this little gem.

I LOVE this place. And I don’t know why there isn’t constantly a line out the door for people who love good coffee. Adam D turned me onto this place and I will continue to go here whenever I can find a parking spot. They have a very nice selection of beans from around the world and will grind them for you if you need them to… or just do it yourself. I guarantee you aren’t going to beat the prices. If you like tea, dried fruit, candy, and nuts then yep, you can get all that here too. The ladies working behind the counter are all really friendly-especially after putting up with some of their customers… it’s amazing to me how rude some people can be, but these ladies just smile and carry on. If you want a recommendation — go with the Alito Blend coffee… it’s really delicious.

Every morning, either I or my boyfriend make TM Ward coffee(Andres Select specifically) for our daily caffeine fix, so we regularly stop by the store on Broad Street to refill our supply. This is a great little coffee shop in the city of Newark. You can grab a cup of coffee if you are on the go or during your lunch break. They also have iced coffee during the summer months. There is a serious selection of coffee roasts. I haven’t tried them all(yet), but I like the aforementioned Andres Select, Ethiopia Harrar, Chocolate Raspberry, and Chocolate Macadamia Nut. I’ve used the last two for making iced coffee at home. The staff will grind the beans for you, but you can also buy bags of pre-ground coffee or whole beans. In addition to coffee, TM Ward has a large selection of teas, nuts, dry snacks, and candies. I always end up picking up a snack to try whenever getting our coffee supply for the week. Note: The shop closes early at 4pm weekdays. Saturday hours fluctuate, so your best bet is to go during the work week. If you are in the area during the work week, consider stopping by for a cup of coffee!

I purchased Royal Hotel Blend and Columbian Portuguese(whole beans). I use a chemex… there was no «bloom» after the grind… so…Probably old beans… both blends tasteless… slightly bitter… tinge of «metallic» taste… disappointing…clearly…not the«roaster» that is portrayed by many of their ads… or reviews…

Terrific coffee roasters. They offer a large variety of roasts all reasonable prices without having to get it from a corporation. They sell coffee by the pound pre bagged and by the cup already brewed. There are also many different types of candies and dry snacks/nuts available. Its been a Newark staple for a long time.

I love coffee and was a little disappointed on the selection. I actually thought it would have a wider selection versus the Chatham location. The only pro is the selection of nuts and candy. Also parking was very difficult and took me about 20 minutes to find a spot. The ladies behind the counter weren’t as helpful. Felt like it was fend for yourself. I’d rather drive 30 minutes to the Chatham location than come back to this location. I also don’t get why they aren’t open on the weekends at least a Saturday for a few hours for people who work and don’t get out til 5.

One of thee very best smelling stores in the entire state of NJ. I haven’t been there in the last few months. I stay away cause last time I went in I ended up buying a pound of blueberry, cinnamon, french vanilla, columbian and regular café. I am a coffee drinker but I don’t make coffee at home often I go out and buy my coffee. I know I’m crazy but what do you expect when you have quick check 7 eleven Starbucks McDonald’s n subway where I can get a ready made cup. Oh yea back to Wards I stop in when I go get my mail from my p.o. box a nice cup of café a snack peanuts or candy. Nothing better for a big old kid than a place that smells so damn good. Roasted coffee roasted cashews walnuts pecans etc. A place where you can get a 20oz cup of french vanilla coffee a bag of cinnamon coffee and some peach rings. Don’t get me wrong for all you tea drinkers Wards sell different variety of teas too. Oh how I love me some Wards. They have been my favorite store for 30+ years.

Newark wake up, this coffee smells like the inside of a port-o-potty. There is a deli next door to this place with much better coffee than the surrounding spots. I’m only giving this place two stars, one for their chocolate selections and another for their nut selection. Don’t understand how people can drink this coffee.

First, they are incredibly nice and friendly. They stayed open late just for us and were incredibly helpful. Their array of dried fruits, nuts, snacks etc. is unmatched and all reasonably priced. Now the coffee… I bought the Peru, Kona, Portuguese Espresso and Ethiopia Harrar. The bad news: They were ALL very over roasted. Which meant that they all tasted the same: Like a roaster. Now, I wouldn’t be overly upset about this, however the Kona is $ 32 a pound, that’s a lot to pay for coffee that tastes little different than its cheaper counter parts. It’s the equivalent of ordering kobe beef blackened, it’s just not worth the money. So in the end, the coffee was a huge disappointment(If they start looking into some light and medium roasts, this might change) but it’s an overall well run business.

Well run family business. They have every flavor of coffee imaginable. They even half an unroasted detox coffee which I use before the summer. If you dont want to wait for your coffee to grind they have several house blends prepackaged. You could also swing by for a cup of coffee(which they’ll grind for you if you like). Plenty of homemade candy and nuts to take home.

Delicious coffee! They usually have a large variety of freshly brewed coffees, including flavored coffees. My favorite is the Judge Alito. The coffee is very reasonably priced, definitely cheaper than Dunkin or Starbuck’s. They also have a variety of tasty chocolates and nuts-also reasonably priced.

The aroma of this place says it all. Notes of roasted coffee beans are flying around all over the place in this lovely coffee shop. Besides amazing coffee, here, you will also find tea, nuts, dried fruits, and candy. I come here mainly for ground coffee and I am always excited to try new blends from their vast selection. Do not be overwhelmed with the extensive variety of products. I recommend taking the time to read the little signs and labels that are there to help you make the best choice. If you have any questions regarding the coarseness of the coffee you need, the two darling women at the front counter will tell you which grind to choose to suit your particular coffee-brewing method. This is an amazing coffee shop and their French Roast is my favorite.

I must apologize to Ward’s I have been buying and drinking their coffee for 20 years and have not review this wonderful little shop. The service is always excellent the prices are very good especially when you consider that you actually get a pound not like the cans in the supermarket that only 10 and 11 ounces. The list of coffee is endless. I have often given friends coffee that they enjoyed at my home as a gift when I was visiting them. If you are in the area of Newark City Hall or the Federal Building stop in and have a cup or take some home you will not regret it.

I’ve been popping in to TM Ward sporadically over the last 10 years or so.(it’s west of Route 21, I usually stay on the Ironbound side of 21). They have some great tasting coffees and a nice selection of nuts and candies. Definitely prefer giving my business to Ward’s over DD or Starbucks. Prices are great too! I just wish I could get here more often.

This place has got to be one of Newark’s best kept secrets. Awesome, global selection of coffee beans to take home and throw in your grinder. They also have a really neat selection of candies and dried fruit. Ground coffee, tea and espresso are also available, along with a really friendly staff and very reasonable prices.

I walked from the PSEG building, passed the Purdential Center, around City Hall, alongside a fried chicken place and got to TM Ward. You feel like you were drop kicked back in time, to a world where all you need to survive is fresh coffee, chocolate covered anything and roasted peanuts. You don’t feel like you are in downtown Newark anymore. Their prices are great($ 7−12/lb coffee & teas) they are will grind up the coffee for you. They also have 5 or 6 fresh brewed coffee flavors so you could have a taste before committing. Try the dried okra, crunchy and sweet; and the candied cashews, sweeeeeet. Feel free to ask the staff about their recommendations, I like the Jaimacan me crazzy blend(i think it’s called) rich but not overwhelming. If you are sick of crappy deli coffee(or love the deli coffee in Newark, because chances are it comes from TM ward, they even have the ‘restaurant’ blend available for purchase) then stop by!
