Good tasting and well priced! The lamb gyro and side salad was fresh and delicious. There was a small mix up but they handled it immediately and I ended up getting free fries. This is a great place that I’ll definitely be visiting again.

My favorite local restaurant in Newark. Amazing gyros and such a friendly owner. My order is always correct and ready on time. Love the chicken gyro, Greek fries, and you cannot forget the skorpio sauce!

Newark OH might not be a foodie town, but this ‘dive’ had the best Gyro and falafel I’ve ever had. Good portion size and reasonably priced. Service was timely and the gentleman who helped me was genuinely friendly. Only drawback is there’s no indoor seating. And it’s not in my home town.

Good but they always overcharge. They charge more then the current menu prices. My total was supposed to be $ 25 from the current menu they gave me 2 weeks ago and they ended up charging me $ 32 for take out. Very very rude.

Everything we have had here has been delicious! The portions are very generous and the food is always fresh. Don’t forget to try the tzatziki served with fresh pita bread and the baklava. My husband is a huge fan of the dumpster gyro, if you have a big appetite it’s a definite winner as well! Be careful you don’t miss it because it’s in a small building that used to be a dairy aisle. There is no indoor seating but if it’s nice outside you can grab your lunch and take it up the street a little ways to sit on the courthouse square.

Gyro’s are authentic. Greek salad is to die for. The Greek fries are over the top. Picnic tables, walk up or drive up windows only. Great guys inside.

Got an extra large lamb gyro and fries, my friend got a dumpster gyro. Place is run by real greeks. The xl was really big, the dumpster is huge. Everything was ridiculously hot and only took 10 mins to whip up 3 meals. It’s carryout only. Place was consistently busy on Friday night via the drive thru for a reason. Would highly recommend for newark. Location seems a bit sketchy being close to the jail, but it offers fantastic people watching. Friendly people.

This is a carryout only(picnic table) place– not a restaurant. The gyros I’ve had are excellent and I get a craving for them. If I have weak willpower and decide on French fries then I tell them to hold the seasoning. they usually put some sort of, I don’t know paprika, on the fries? Just writing this review is making me want a gyro to munch on !

I had heard about this place and was excited to give it a try. It was not what expected. I never venture over to the east side of Newark, so I was a bit taken aback to discover that Skorpios was located in a very unpleasant, noisy, high traffic area and that the place is a walkup/drivethru restaurant. Foodwise, it was just«ok.» I ordered the falafel pita with fries and an order of eggplant dip. The falafel is not the best but also not the worst I have had. Overall the sandwich was not flavorful– it seemed to be lacking depth of flavor, as were the fries. Although they were coated in the red Greek seasoning, they lacked salt to bring out the flavor and were rather one-dimensional. The eggplant dip was the oddest thing I have seen! When I first tasted it I assumed I had been mistakenly given a dessert, for it tasted like peanut butter and jelly! Upon closer inspection, I could see the eggplant flesh and seeds so I figured I had received the correct thing. The eggplant purée was heavy on tahini(hence the peanut butter flavor) and it was covered in a thick layer of(supposedly) olive oil as well as a sweet brown sauce that I can only assume is some kind of pomegranate vinegar or watered down molasses. Weird, weird, weird! Overall, this was not the most horrible Greek-style food I have had, but I am not likely to make the special effort of visiting again. At least it provides some variety to the desolate Newark foodscape.
