Newark Summerfest 2011

Newpark Summerfest 2011 is happening july 9-​july 10^th in the new park mall area where the farmers market and the food mafia usually is.
highlights:
–food trucks (mogo, whole bowl, twisted chill, tikkabytes, house of siam, grillstars, fivetenburger, a cupcate truck.)
–car and truck show
–kid park (has an horse ride also)
–live band on stage
–traditional bbq (sf bbq, frank’s bbq, «asian» q)
sf bbq had lines, prices here a dollar cheaper than at alameda fest.
–art and trade vendors
–beer (small pours)
food notes:
–lots of parking
–newark p.d. and private security very visible.
–definitely the kids will enjoy the paid for rides.
–only a few traditional food vendors present.

after lunch at the grill stars bbq truck (which was delicious) i had frozen yogurt from twisted chills truck. it was a flat $ 5 charge for as much yogurt as you could fit in the cup and unlimited toppings! what a steal! i had the vanilla and chocolate brownie frozen yogurt with heath bar, toasted cocnut, and chocolate sauce. the yogurt was the best ive had in a long time, and the toasted coconut was a new topping to me and was so good! Great customer service and scrumptious frozen yogurt… i will definitely be back!
