One of the best corned beef sandwiches I have had in years. SO hard to find any place that makes real corned beef-sliced from a brisket and Cooper’s does it the right way. The size of the sandwich here rivals the Carnegie Deli and the quality is right up there. Bakery-fresh rye bread. A great pickle. Excellent Russian dressing. Go!

This place makes an awesome roast beef and cheese on rye bread! One of the BEST sandwich spots in town.

Seriously, this place is a hidden gem! The sandwiches are hearty and well priced. The brisket and pastrami were both outrageous! Some of the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve had plenty of both as I lived across the street from Katz’s Deli for many years. Pastrami is different than Katz’s, but equally delicious! Don’t let the location(s) scare you, it’s well worth the trip to either one.

The delicatessen sandwiches I fell in love with in childhood are back! I’ve only been to the Orange Street Cooper’s Deli and Liquors. So this is all I can review. I started returning to Coopers the past few years because the quality has returned to the old days. My all time favorites are the corned beef, the pastrami, the brisket(no gravy) and the combo(either pastrami/corned beef or brisket/pastrami). No, they’re not going straight«old world»; spicing, smoking or pickling on site. They use decent brand packaged meats, I believe the brand is Best. But the skill is in how they steam those bad-boys. I think he does his own brisket, though. Never had gravy on it, but you can get it on your brisket. I go for deli meat, bread. I don’t do reubens, add cheese, etc. I want to taste melt in your mouth slices on Pechter’s rye. Occasionally I switch up and get the corned beef sub style with fixings, but not cheese. They serve them and dress them any way you want. The cakes are fabulous. When I’m having a tough day I add a slice of coconut pineapple to my order. It’s in the hood, in need of repair. A microcosm of the community come in and out and everybody’s respectful. They get big phone orders; if you call in, like I prefer to do, be patient and speak clearly. They have a good track record with me. They have not messed up my order.

Part liquor store, part deli. Odd? Not at all! I think meat and liquor go hand-in-hand. The mound of meat on every sandwich is undeniably generous, to say the least. Prices are a bargain. Good luck finishing any of their sandwiches in one sitting. I’ve always had to break mine up into two or three meals, and surprisingly, regardless of the moisture of the meats and fillings, the sandwich still holds up and still tastes great even hours later. Sloppy, messy, and wet, just like it was when you first got it! I’ve had the hot pastrami, Reuben-style with Russian dressing and slaw. It was tasty and full of flavor, but it wasn’t amazing. I’m not certain if it was the Russian dressing, or the slaw, or the amount of slaw(grossly lacking in ratio to the mound of meat), or the way the pastrami was seasoned, but I just didn’t love it. I enjoyed it a lot and I will indeed buy it again, but when I’m hankering for pastrami, I can’t say their version of a Reuben is the one I crave for. Still, it’s a good quality sandwich and you really can’t beat the price. That hunky sandwich came out to eight bucks! I’ve also had the roast beef, smothered in gravy and cooked onions, by request. The meat was juicy and even more generous in quantity than the Reuben, but it was slightly bland for me. This may be a statement directed more towards the gravy than the roast beef, which shined in its natural flavors and juices. This was another sandwich I thoroughly enjoyed, but didn’t love. The service is courteous. The staff is helpful when assisting us in designing a sandwich. The business takes credit cards! Yay! I’m a fan!

Absolutely NOT what it use to be!!! Who wants to eat a sandwich from a place where all the employee look like there high??? Back in the dayz coopers use to be the shit now the quality of meat has changed the customer service is crappy and not to mention the feens outside begin for change. If u ask me coopers is out of the sandwich business this location and south orange ave. If u want a REALSANDWICH in the area go to sandwiches unlimited in Orange… y’all still get alot of meat but buy the time u pick the fat off it will look like some shit you made in your own kitchen.

It reminds me of one of those places where no matter how high end your life gets, you will always come back here to eat.
