Scott Shapiro, MD

Dr. Shapiro is the most creative and supportive psychiatrist I have ever worked with (I’ve seen 10 or so over the years). He approaches problems with a can-​do attitude, trying new things until he gets it right. He treats the whole person, a rare attribute among his colleagues these days.

I have worked with Dr. Shapiro for several years, and have found him to be very caring, understanding, and extremely helpful. He is truly a professional who cares about his patients, and I highly recommend him.

I met Dr. Scott Shapiro a few years ago, when he was invited to join our supervision group at Cognitive Therapy Center of New York/​The Schema Institute. He has been a welcome addition to our group. Scott is a very knowledgable Schema Therapist. He is an excellent listener and very sharp. Scott always offers perceptive, well thought out comments during case presentations. He has been very generous in furthering our understanding of why certain psychotropic medications are chosen for patients, as well as explaining the contraindications for medications. Scott is very compassionate, sensitive and respectful. Due to these qualities, as well as his calm manner, I have referred to him many of my clients.
