Holiday Inn Manhattan 6th Ave – Chelsea

A very dirty hotel. The website shows it was recently remodeled, but the online pictures were nothing like the actual room I stayed in. There was literally poop on the towels in the bathroom, and there was hair in my bed when I pulled down my sheets that was not mine. The lobby was dirty as well. Overall, an unfortunate experience. I will never stay here again and I won’t recommend it to anyone.

Don’t get a front facing room on a low floor if you want to sleep. The drunks coming from the hotels roof top bar, stumbled out in to the street, fighting and yelling for hours.

This place was pretty nice. I reserved a king room with a view and was not disappointed. They put me on the top floor facing south. The view was amazing.
I showed up around 4 and got into the room right away. Like most NYC hotels, the room was pretty small. Not a lot of room at all. The room was very clean, you could smell it from housekeeping. Maybe needs to calm down with the lysol. No signs of bugs in the room at all. The shower was nice and hot, but the pipes had air in them. It felt like a hot tub jet more than a shower.
The hotel staff is very friendly. Check in was simple, was offered late checkout and got free access to the wifi. They greeted me every time I walked through the lobby. If I’m working in this part of town again, I will definitely stay here.

I stayed here one night and everything was AOK. Clean. Prompt service. Room was acceptable (very small, but its in the city!), water was hot. Quiet.

BEWARE — BED BUGS or FLEAS!
On September 20^th of 2015, I stayed one night in this hotel, because I had an important interview in the city the next day. At around 6 AM the next day, September 21, I woke up scratching my upper, left leg. When I looked down, I had three bites on my leg, and they itched like crazy. I immediately knew they were either fleas or bed bugs, because I had not been anywhere with mosquitoes (it was mid September in NYC), and it happened after I was in my room, in the bed. I panicked and searched online for bed bug cleaning companies so I could have my clothes properly cleaned while I was at my interview. A reputable company told me the hotel would most likely deny the fleas or bed bugs. They said the hotel would avoid taking responsibility until they absolutely had to do do.
I returned to the hotel after my interview to check-​out. I discussed the problem with the manager, Alex, and then he and a maintenance guy checked the bed and immediately said, «No, there are no bed bugs or fleas.» WTF? How in the world is it even possible that they could determine this so quickly? I checked out of the hotel and told them I would be disputing the charge with my credit card company.
The hotel went on to sell that same room that night to someone else. Simply unbelievable. DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL unless you have no other choice. Nightmare, but even more disappointing? That the hotel went on to sell this room, despite my complaint. Would you want to stay in a hotel with bed bugs or fleas? I think not.
Lastly, if you ask why they are not on some list, please realize they can only be on a list if they admit to the infraction and hotels do not want to admit to this kind of infraction unless they absolutely have to do so, because they want to avoid a loss in sales. Please, do not patronize this hotel unless you have no other choice. And, please, if you’ve also had this problem, at this hotel, please post a review. Maybe these reviews will help bring attention to this problem and cause the hotel to take proper responsibility.

We recently stayed at this Holiday Inn location for 2 nights and after this experience I have sworn off Holiday Inns! The room was worn (will try to post pics), price was high (well over $ 300 for nights we were there — esp for no breakfast being included) and service was terrible.
The absolute worst part was the fact that when I noted online the price for the second night of our stay, had dropped significantly since I had first made our reservation, they REFUSED to meet the lower price!
I first inquired at the front desk and was told that since it was only for part of our reservation (the second night), I would need to call the 800 customer service line for them to «adjust our reservation». Upon calling the 800 number, I explained the situation and was told the 800 number customer service rep would have to call the hotel directly to speak to them and they assigned me a «case number»! REALLY??! What the heck?!! I was placed on hold for a LONG time while they called the hotel. Once that conversation occurred, I was told the hotel front desk would contact me. Again… WHAT!!! How complicated IS it to drop my room rate??!
Eventually the front desk manager called to say «Sorry (NOT sorry)» but we were «locked into the rate agreed upon when the reservation was made» — oh and «no other institution would EVER agree to lower a rate once you were there»!! Ummmm… WRONG! I had another hotel chain (starts with H and ends with N — since I’m not certain I can say it outright)…do it when the same situation occurred — immediately upon request — none of this calling an 800# etc — and with a smile on their faces!!!
Apparently giving an IHG Rewards member what amounted to about a 4% savings on our total bill, was NOT worth it to them! A little goodwill would have gone a long ways — but that was not going to happen at this Chelsea Holiday Inn! Word to the wise — STAY AWAY!!! Apparently they don’t care much about their customers! Next time I’ll stay at one of their competitors — one that CARES about keeping their customers!
One minor annoyance during our stay. They only had ONE — count that ONE — ice machine working while we were there (in a hotel that has 25 or 26 floors) — AND the vending machine (with snacks) was on a different floor…

We arrived too early to check in, but the clerk was very nice and took care of our luggage right away and told us exactly when our room would be ready.
Check in was easy. No issues.
We had amazing views from our 24^th-​floor room.
Rooms are small here, but that is to be expected in Manhattan. Bathroom was tiny.
Fitness center was small but ample. Treadmill needs some maintenance.
Neighborhood is great. Lots of restaurants. Centrally located to Midtown and Chelsea and The Village. We walked everywhere. Easy, easy, easy.
I would stay here again.

Clean, great location, and incredibly friendly and helpful staff. We had a great view of the Empire State Building from the 20^th floor!

Booked the room with the city view for a 4 night stay, Staff including Concierge was excellent! The double is good for 3 adults. Clean room & Yes the room was small but this is NYC. Great location as you are just steps away from Penn Station & Madison Square Garden. A few great restaurants nearby. They do have a restaurant which looked like it had decent food as they were busy & the Happy Hour was also good. Offsite parking was $ 33 a day for a sedan. We will be back.

Great location, especially if you love to walk – 0.2 mi to F.I.T., 0.3 mi to Eataly, 0.5 mi to Macy’s and Penn Station, 0.7 mi to High Line Park, 1.5 to MOMA, Bryant Park is within a mile, 1.0 mi to Chelsea Market, Little Italy 2.1 mi away. You could even walk to the Brooklyn Bridge which is 3 mi away. We caught the sub to the bridge and walked back to the hotel catching Little Italy and some lunch along the way. Weekends are a little tricky on the Sub because of a transfer from the D line to the A line.
There is something for everyone all within a mile – boutique kitchen, home décor, clothing stores; the usuals – Trader Joes, Whole Foods, Michaels and Blink’s arts and crafts, even the most beautiful Home Depot (at least the façade – didn’t enter); antique stores, a flea market, an animé store for the young ones, and on and on and on…
Small but clean rooms, not much storage space so if you are traveling with 4 people, a couple will have to live out of their suitcases. If you are traveling with people who like to leave their toiletries and toiletry bags out, you may be in trouble. There is no refrigerator or safe. They do have free wi-​fi. No free breakfast, but a good coffee shop on the block and close to a great doughnut shop (D.Plant). The restaurant on site was pretty good – we ate the burger and fries (loved the crispy light fries!!) and a waldorf salad, so I’m assuming they have a good breakfast menu as well. They will hold your bags if you get in early and you can ask for a small extension of a couple of hours at check-​in time and they will try to accomodate you – not sure if being a club member is required. If you are lucky (I’m sure you can ask) you will get a room with a view of the Freedom Tower-​what a sight! Great staff!

Super small rooms for a family of 4! We were only given three towels per day and we had 4 people. Therefore I had to ask for an extra towel 3 times. The 3^rd time, I asked them to tell housekeeping to leave 4 towels per day. I had to ask for toilet paper TWICE! (I have never had to ask for toilet paper! Housekeeping was not filling it!) One day the room was not cleaned at all for no reason. Housekeeping was also not changing the garbage in the room so I had to change it and leave it all in the bathroom. The fan in the bathroom had a malfunction and black stuff started shooting out of the fan so we had to stop using that. The last night we were there, our key cards did not work and they appeared to have been deactivated for some reason. The internet was HORRIBLE! Real spotty, in and out, and took forever to open pages. The biggest incident was I came back to the hotel with dessert and they would not give me a spoon to eat it! The bar told me to get it from the front desk. The front desk told me to get it from the bar. I returned to the person at the bar only to be told «We don’t just give out spoons!» I got very upset as I was a paying guest of 8 nights and could not get a spoon! I guess they thought I was going to steal it! Finally the bell hop, who was the nicest employee came up and said they would bring one up from room service! Ridiculous!

We picked this hotel as it’s in walking distance of Penn Central train station and we got a good rate. Turned out to be an ideal location for our other activities as we were able to take the bus nearby to various museums. This hotel is very busy but the front desk handled everything well with a smile and everyone was very helpful and on top of their jobs. Room was clean (although quite small) and quiet and with a great view of the city (e.g., the Chrysler building). Restaurant had great breakfast and appears to turn into a bar club late evening and has lunch too. If you are a wheelchair user be sure to ensure it’s wheelchair accessible first as the rooms, including the bathrooms, are quite small.

All the people are really nice !!! I will always come back here. The front desk people are so helpful. Cesar was the guy who helped us a lot. Very recommended.

Very nice ambiance, helpful staff, nice on premises restaurant and room service. The rooms are cozy and small, bathroom was tiny, tv was great… flat screen over 200 channels plus hbo. Free reliable wifi and ethernet cords for direct connections too. Plenty of electrical outlets even on the lamps. Housekeeping daily and vending machines on several floors. Great city views on high floors. Overall very nice experience!

I booked a standard room. They only had one room left and it was a smoking room. I didn’t want it. They would not grant a refund for an advanced reservation. Since when is a standard room a smoking room. Management was also obnoxious.

Perfect location near metro stations n°23, 26 and Penn Station.
If you can be in the room 2504 (last floor) you will have a beautiful view on the Financial District. The sunrises and sunsets are wonderful.
The front desk may give you small bottles of water and keep your luggages.
The Room is cosy and the bed ok.

The front desk service at this location is professional and yet not fake with you. They are direct and helpful. Probably the best I’ve had in a long time.
Manny, on the over nights, went above and beyond. He explained to us the added features this hotel has, such as the business center to print out our boarding passes. And was exceptionally helpful in the morning when our shuttle service didn’t show up.
The hotel itself is in a perfect location to walk to the biggest attractions NYC has.

and got a great deal for around 200 $ a night. Keep in mind hotels in New York will tax you about 40 – 50 $ a day. So it was around 250 $ a night during July which is a pricey month. I would not recommend using priceline or hotwire because you will not be eligible for hotel reward points if you do so. I had to learn the hard way after spending 3000 $…
Ok now to the actual hotel. Holiday Inn is nothing fancy… really just a normal hotel. It is in a nice area in Chelsea and conveniently located near the subway systems. If you do stay I would recommend getting a room in in the back of the hotel because the views form the front side is just the ugly building in front of the hotel.
If you are on the back of the hotel from probably floors 18 – 25 you will be able to get a great view of the empire state building. In my whole two week stay there though the empire state building never changed their building light colors at night so it got boring after awhile. And keep in mind there are only 2 tiny elevators in the hotel that takes forever.
The rooms are incredibly small. but now if your in new york you probably wont be staying in your room the whole time so that isnt really an issue. They do have 3 drawers for your clothes and a small closet with 5 hangers. The room itself is tiny, with only a little room to walk around. The rest room has a giant door which makes it hard to close it when your on the inside. there is only a shower and no tube in my room. And they do have a hair dryer in the restroom so you dont need to bring one. There is a TV with cable and a small desk with bed side lamps.
Now for the housekeeping servies, the whole two weeks I was there they only changed the sheet twice. I know because I made little marks on the sheets and pillows. They do not change your sheets everyday they just make your bed. The towels are occasionally replaced. I would not use the two towels on top o the shower because who knows how long they have been there. They do not always replace the shampoo, soap and conditioner either. They do throw out the trash everyday though.
If you can get a good deal I would recommend coming to the holiday inn. But seriously my friend paid only 20 $ more than me a night and went to the hilton inn down the street. The hilton is on another level and class of hotel compared to the holiday inn. You can tell just by entering their lobby and many younger hip people seem to stay at the hilton. If the prices are the same or similar. I would recommend going to the hilton instead.

I stayed here for the past 6 nights for business; I didn’t select the hotel, as my company chose it, but wow — I was super happy with it!
The location is wonderful. The entire time I was there, I didn’t take the subway at all — and only a cab once (it was late at night). Located between 6^th and 7^th Avenues on 26^th Street, you’re about a 10-​minute (max) walk from Penn Station, about a 10 minute walk from Macy’s and Herald Square, and only about 5 minutes from Madison Square Park, a nice place to people watch and take a cup of coffee.
The staff were extremely helpful. My key kept desensitizing itself (happens when it’s near your credits cards or mobiles) and they were always accommodating in resetting it. My TV acted up once during my stay and within about 20 minutes, the repairman came to fix it.
Yes, the rooms are on the small side — but this is New York City — not the suburbs. I found the space plenty large. I would have appreciated a slightly larger bathroom sink, but that’s just me being picky.
Wonderful stay and highly recommend!
