Great place. I got the burger, the patty was homemade and not a frozen one. The bun was made on from their on site bakery and was delicious. Service was great also. I bought a whole pie to bring home, I’m sure it will be just as good as everything else.

I was traveling around the country and I stumbled upon this little cozy restaurant. Simple, clean, rustic and traditional American food. The waitress were super friendly and very active(they must have refilled my coffee at least 6 times and I never had to ask). Nothing fancy but real Texan food. Stop and say hi!

Stopped in for lunch. Had the meatloaf, green beans and mashed potatoes off their lunch line. Food was good but the Apple was was fabulous! Price is very fair.

I want to like this place because it’s local and not a chain. But I can’t. It’s filthy. The bathrooms are filthy, the restaurant seating areas are dirty; I hate to think what the kitchen looks like!

I’m a go out to breakfast person — not much on lunch or dinner. Recently relocated and was having a time finding a non mediocre chain to attend for brekkie. First time here was exactly what I was looking for… Like L&T in Magnolia and The Nook in Tomball had a love child. Everything made perfectly to order and portions slightly differ each time so you know it’s made super fresh each and every time. Wait staff is friendly but not above snarking when needed and I *LOVE* that. Also like that hollering across the place isn’t frowned upon either because there’s lots of blind spot«hidey holes» and eye contact isn’t always possible. Only issue if that’s even the appropriate word is the coffee. I like deep rich bold coffee and theirs, sadly, hot water with a brown crayon dipped in it. There’s a LOT of regulars so I cannot fault the restaurant for providing what a majority ask for.

Walked in, acknowledged the guy at the counter, sat ourselves and waited. We waited and waited. Nothing. No one came to say hi at least. Nothing. So we left. Ridiculous service.

Stopped by Waverly House on our way back from the Sam Houston National Forest for lunch. The burgers are in one word: fantastic! They have a bakery on sight, so the sourdough bun was freshly made, the burger patty was also«handmade» not one of those frozen patties you get elsewhere. If you are in the area, it is worth visiting.

Ate here over the weekend. Fried chicken was awesome, staff was great, hubby had a piece of their coconut cream pie was the best, I know where I will go when I need a homemade pie for a special occasion

Had lunch here because of all the rave reviews. Was not impressed with the chicken fried steak or the pie. The steak had a really bad taste to it & the pie was way too sugary. The fried pickles were descent and the burger my daughter had was really good. But overall there are better places to eat in the area.

This is such a random place to stop at, but it’s one of the only restaurants when you get closer to Forest Glen Camps. I’m giving it 5 stars based on their burgers alone – I normally don’t eat burgers, but my friends and I had to grab something quick to go, and all ordered the burgers because that seemed like the safest bet. Best. burger. of my life. Why? Because of the BUN. It was a thick and chewy bun that tasted amazing with the burger patty(I don’t even remember what the patty tasted like – probably just your usual delicious burger patty, but it was really the bun that made it amazing). So yes, it’s in the middle of nowhere, but I will forever remember this place for its awesome burgers.

This place is great, it is by far the best place to eat in New Waverly. My favorite is the grilled pork chops. The mushroom burger is worth a try as well, come to think of it I have not had anything that i did not like there.

If you like fried food, chicken fried, onion rings, pickles, mushrooms, home cut fries, and fresh burgers and of course PIES! Make your way to this dive off 45 north of Houston and eat yourself into american food coma.

Best chicken fried chicken I have had in years. Green beans were melt in mouth perfect and not even greasy. The restaurant was quite busy with locals so food took a little while to come out — but service was friendly. Friends had the fried pickles and mushrooms — huge portions.

A wonderful road-trip surprise! Everything we tried was excellent. There were 4 – 5 different kinds of beans, and they were all distinctly flavored and excellently cooked. The fried chicken was buttermilk soaked and perfectly cooked. The chicken tenders were the same way. The cornbread was moist and just the right kind of non-sugary sweet. The smoked meats(chicken, pork, and beef BBQ) were super-flavorful and didn’t rely on an overwhelming sauce. They would have been delicious with no sauce at all. The mashed potatoes were excellent, as was the mac and cheese. It was, on paper, just like any other meat and three you might find in a small town, but every single element was exceptionally well executed. We happened to dine here the day before Easter, so the entire front of the restaurant was covered in pie orders waiting to be picked up. We managed to get a slice, and I can see why people come from all around to get these pies. Even with all that dessert action distracting the staff, the regular food was all perfect. The only flat spot in the entire meal was a not-super-fresh roll. It was fine, but could have been better. I can honestly say I’ve never had better meat-and-three food, and believe me, I’ve had my fair share! I’m just sad that I might not ever get to visit again, as the relatives we had in Houston just moved! It would be 4 hours out of our way after a 10 hour road trip just to eat at Waverly House again, and I’m still wondering if it wouldn’t be worth it.
