The best authentic Mexican food in New Rochelle! Owners are very nice and attentive. Only downside in my opinion is the loud the music &TV. It won’t stop me from returning!

This is a place with authentic Mexican food, good service, good food, I just to visit el sombrero at least twice a week, I know the owner for many years, however my wife noticed Benny the owner alters the prices, be aware if you go there check price against menu he tags additional 3 or 4 dls per item, We been there couple of times in the last couple of months and he does this all the time. Benny if you are not making enough profit change the prices in the menu, And don’t think customers don’t check their bill, I been checking mine, I will eventually stop coming to your place this is not good work ethic.

I tried this place last night and it was really good. Their tacos were delicious and the michelada I had was great! The service was great I honestly think my food was out in about 10 minutes! I kept saying how good and fast their service was.

This is by far my favorite place to come. I live in the bronx and drive up here at least two to three times a week. Carnitas tacos, fish tacos, shrimp tacos, steak tacos, soups, tamales, burritos its literally all amazing.

I’d been living here a few months when I told a friend about this place. She looked in one night and said, «we need to check that out.» Great intuition! We did and had a great time. Great vibe. Flags and posters all over. On one wall a poster of Pope John Paul. On another wall Tipos de Beso(types of kissing). We grooved on tacos, tostadas and left very happy. I’ve been a few times since. The music is almost too loud but not quite. Five or six tables. A great lunch counter, perfect for a quick quesadilla and a michelada, that refreshing Bloody Mary type drink made with beer. What prompted this review? I usually eat vegetarian but on this particular night I was felt like having fish. I think once in a while is OK. I ordered the red snapper. My friend and original adventurous companion had the Mariscado, a delicious mix of shellfish, squid and octopus. My fish was perfect. Big. Fresh. Beautiful. Cooked perfectly. I had to post pictures. If you want real, great Mexican food at a fair price and local flavor in every way go to this little gem.

I love this place. I no longer live in New Rochelle but when i did this was my go to place for mexican food. First of all, easily the best michelada’s in NY and they sell them to go which is awesome. The food is awesome, the camarones empanizados ala diabla(breaded shrimp in a hot sauce) are amazing, these are my favorite, right next to the tacos. I have pretty much tried all the tacos and they are all great. The service is great, usually the owner is there and hes extremely friendly. Cant wait to be back in NY to stop and grab some lunch and a michelada to go.
