Mother Earth has a small shop in front and a backroom«mining» area where kids can explore for rocks in their cave. My 8-year old daughter and her friend loved their mining experience and came out with some neat rocks, minerals, sharks teeth and an arrowhead. It probably helped that they got to wear mining helmets with lights on the front, which made them really feel like miners. What each kid gets from their mining will be different based on what they find during the short time that they can go mine for whatever they can dig up. After they came out of the mine, one of the staff sat down with them to explain the name and some details about each rock, mineral, etc. The kids were very interested and it was a fun time while being educational. The walls are decorated to look like a old time mining hut, which adds to the experience. After the mining, we shopped a bit around the store where there are unusual rocks, geodes, jewelry made from stones, etc. It’s a New Age feel, but in a good way. The prices are reasonable, and I thought the mining was worth it. It may be a short time, but I thought it was a value for the rocks that are found and the information. We went based on the recommendation of a friend who went with her 11 year old son, so it appeals to different kids.

When you gotta go to the weird girl’s bday party in 4th grade, it better be at Mother Earth. This place is the place to stop when making the trek up Route 7 to Canada, yes it goes all the way up there, and these are the best rocks on said route! Its the place to make a 4 graders mind EXPLODE Go in the back room and dig for GEODE Some rocks are metaphysical and wistful they even got some pyramids and crystals I come up from Brookyln and eat some Rickyl’s waffles then, you know what? walk to mother earff and dig for FOSSILS!@ This place is great, one of brookfields few non furniture or lake based attractions.
