May be a bit tricky to locate, but you’ll be glad you found it! Always a favorite for locals and visitors. FRESH seafood, outdoor dining — but with a large covered area for shade, BYOB. Husband goes for the lobster rolls. I go for the fresh green salad topped with perfectly grilled scallops.

My favorite menu items: whole belly clams, scallops, clam fritters, and the Captain’s Platter.

Good food, good prices but you have to be in the mood to do some of the work. Stake out an outdoor table(some covered, some not but all are outside) and line up. Place your order and bring it back to the table. It was a nice crowd and they had some live music when we were there. Everyone was having fun and enjoying the great weather. My favorites — Lobster Roll, Lobster Bisque, Onion Rings and Steamed Clams. That said, I don’t think there’s a single thing on the menu that a seafood lover wouldn’t enjoy.

Arrrrggg, I smell seafood by the pier and I want me some fresh, salty New England fishies. Okay, that was a bad imitation. Real bad. Originally planning on heading straight to Mystic from New London, we decided to visit the pier since there wasn’t enough time for a sit-down lunch at a restaurant. Luckily for us, there was a festival going on and there were food trucks – yaaasss! Captain Scott’s was part of my itinerary if time permitted us to have lunch at a sit-down restaurant, but it didn’t. I was excited when I saw Captain Scott’s food truck – was it fate that I wasn’t going to miss out after all? Going to Connecticut, I thought I was going to escape the robbery prices of a lobster roll in New York, but it looks like it wasn’t going to happen. Instead, I got a cup of the New England Clam Chowder, saving my appetite for our next stop in Mystic. The clam chowder was average… barely any pieces of clam meat, and instead, lots of veggies, particularly potatoes. It held me up for about another hour or so before I got hungry again. My friend got a few Clam Fritters and although they’re good as appetizers or something to snack on while you’re on-the-go, I’d say it was 90% dough and the rest were small pieces of meat. For a little over a dollar each, they weren’t cheap, though they make pretty good small bites.

Stumbled upon this place as it was on our way to the beach and boy am I glad we did! This place is right by the dock and there’s a fairly large pavilion where you can seat yourself after you order at the window. We came on a Sunday and they had live music going. It was fantastic! We ordered the clam chowder and did the combo platter(clam strips and fried oysters). Platters come with a generous portion of fries and small side of coleslaw. We didn’t care much for the clam chowder, it was quite runny and didn’t have a ton of flavor. We got the New England clam chowder, which we were told has a creamier base vs the Rhode Island chowder which is more clear. They didn’t skimp on the clams though. The platter was excellent! We were curious what the difference was between the clam fritters, whole belly clams and the clam strips. The fritters are quite large and are made with pieces of clam and dough and then fried. We didn’t see anyone really order the whole belly clams, and we were recommended to try the clam strips. Both the clam strips and fried oysters were AMAZING! Everything came out hot and fresh and had a ton of flavor, not fishy at all! They have a good variety of sauces to choose from as well. Saw a lot of people taking advantage of the BYOB option! Great to have on a hot day — saw a lot of people bring coolers and ice. There was an ice cream place right next to the main window that looked good but we were too full :) They also had a food truck right by the band, which offers a smaller menu and is cash only, if you want to order quickly. We waited about 25 mins on a Sunday afternoon(well worth the wait though)! Would definitely come back if I was in the area or even if not remotely near the area!

I love the food here, I always bring my family when they visit. Most of the food is fried, I always get the fried clams.

If you ever need to film a horror movie scene in a bathroom, the coed bathroom here is a good location. I was legitimately scared. It’s not dirty it’s just scary. Great lobster roll.

$ 16 for a large warm butter lobster roll? Can’t beat it! Not only is it priced extremely well, the lobster rolls are fully stuffed! Absolutely made fresh and served with cole slaw. Believe me, these rolls are bigger than almost other places and priced lower as well. Lines can be long so prepare for a wait! Worth every moment.

The wait was an hour long line on a Sunday evening but you can’t beat the price and the food was worth it.

Amazing seafood find!!! Lines were long, but the food was worth it! Food came out in a decent amount of time. While waiting, I was able to find a scenic seat with an amazing view of the docked boats and water… My lady and I ordered large hot and cold lobster rolls, French fries, and shrimp cocktails… Food tasted fresh and was absolutely delicious!!! Shrimps were huge, fries were crisp and the lobster rolls were scrumptious. I would def come here again!

Arrived here at around 3pm on Sunday after going to Ocean Beach Park just 10 minutes away. Parking is a little tight but we were able to find a spot next to the seating area. Line looked long, but it actually went by quickly. The wait to pick up the food was expected. The portions were generous, the seafood was fresh. Everything we ordered was good: Fish and chips, Shrimp Po’boy, Hot Lobster Roll, Onion Rings, and two create-a-combos(calamari, clam strips, shrimp, and scallops). Nice little spot next to the water. Live band was playing. Especially enjoyed the food court type of setup in which you just order, wait for your number to be called, and pick a picnic table to sit. Simple and easy!

I just love this place. The portions are enormous, the lobster rolls are flavorful. The bread is not to hard or too soft. The lobster bisque is a little on the sweeter side but still full of lobster meat. The lobster salad is delicious with just the right amount of lobster and the fries are perfect. I come back every year with my husband . It’s been three years now and I never regret I took my dad’s sleeping pills for a while then ran out. it. I recommend coming on a weekday as this my packed and you have plenty of outdoor seating. Also you can byob and a table cloth, have yourself a little picnic. You can also bring your dog. We decided to sit closest to the parking lot since our puppy has anxiety and tends to bark. Lastly, the staff is so pleasant. They are very kind and that is a huge plus in my book. Did I mention, the scenery is perfect? It’s truly a hidden gem.

I feel like the people who commented well here have never eaten seafood anywhere else BUTHERE. 1. Clamless clam chowder. I suggest a rename to Potato Chowder. 2. Clamless clam fritter. Perhaps a rename to Dough Fritter. 3. Butterless lobster roll. No rename necessary. It’s just a sad day when one can’t handle enough melted butter. Worst part… ALLOFTHISAFTERWAITINGIN A GLACIALLINEFOR45MINS!!!

After a few hours at the beach my boyfriend and I decided to pack up and find a place to eat somewhere in the neighborhood. I was in the mood for seafood so I checked Unilocal, and this establishment based on reviews and location caught my eye. So we decided to give it a try and I’m so glad we did! The restaurant is tucked away in a industrial park setting and the area can seem somewhat sketchy at first. But once you’re in the parking lot you are immediately drawn to the crowd of people(who seem to frequent the restaurant) waiting to order, the water, boats, and the tunes of a band playing on select days/evenings. Once there we stood in line for about 15 minutes before we placed our order(worth the wait). Being a seafood lover I was in heaven checking out the menu, there was so much to choose from! I opted for a small lobster roll($ 11.95) with butter and my boyfriend and I shared the calamari platter with fries. When the food arrived I was impressed by the amount of lobster in the roll and the amount of calamari in the platter. I was even more impressed when I took a bite. The roll had the right amount of butter and the calamari was flavored well and cooked perfectly. I cannot wait to go back to try something else. The atmosphere is great, the people are laid back and friendly and the food from what I tried is really good. You can’t go wrong!

Oh lobster… My husband calls you Tiny Dump Trucks, but alas you are so delicious! Coated in butter, you sing my name! Your delicate meats and tiny claws are so wonderful. You are perfectly paired with breads, and who can disagree that above crab, you are the delicious king of the ocean?! When I moved to the east coast, I braced my husband for my delight for crab and lobster. He’s not a fan of either, so he will order the fish and chips while I dive into my crustaceans. Captain Scotts was actually my first lobster when I arrived here, and as of yet has been the best. Parking is ample, but finding the place can be somewhat difficult. Tucked behind a residential area and some piers, this is indeed a hidden gem. Prices are moderate for the serving, and service is prompt. There are many available tables, both full sun and covered, and are adjoined by an ice cream parlor for after meal sweets. I was pleased with the lobster roll, both juicy and well cooked, and my husband loved his fish and chips with tartar sauce. Great start to the New England cuisine, and setting the lobster bar high!

We eagerly came here for a lobster roll. The hot lobster roll is the way to go, as there is less filler than the cold, but a small($ 11.95) was pretty small. Way too small for the price. Also, the lobster was a bit chewy. Keeping one more extra star, though, for the dock-y ambiance and BYOB.

WOW! This place is perrrfect when the weather is warm. I ordered the hot lobster roll, this was a must order! It was so goood and melted in my mouth. I had a bowl of lobster bisque, which was good. There was only one piece of lobster in there though and I fixed that by adding some lobster from my lobster roll. Lastly I had the whole belly clam. These were good, but not a must have, so I would just order it as a side next time. Don’t forget to stop by the ice cream booth to your left for the best creamsicle float!
