This place was a real find. We called Best Heating and Cooling last summer when our upstairs air conditioning unit conked out. Since it was the original unit that was installed when the house was built back in 1983 and uses a refrigerant that has been banned by the EPA, most HVAC companies would have recommended replacing the whole AC system with an updated, more energy-efficient one. Russ, the owner of Best Heating and Cooling, informed us about a loophole in the law, however, which allows the R-22 refrigerant to be used to service existing air conditioners. He ordered and installed a new compressor that will add about 10 more years to the life of our AC system, at only about a third of the price of a completely new system. Russ also came over this past winter and fixed our equally ancient furnace when it wouldn’t turn off for some reason. He’s quick, relatively inexpensive, and very service-oriented.
