I am an Indian and love indian food. The food was very bland and tasted nothing like what good Indian food is supposed to taste like. We had ordered 4 vegetarian entrees: Vegetable Korma, Vegetable Jalfrezi, Kadai Paneer, and Paneer Makhni, none of them tasted good. Also Pudina Paratha was quite hard. Only positive was Onion Kulcha. Would not recommend to anyone.

The food is quite good in general. We were charged an 18% gratuity because we were a group of 8 at the buffet. A questionable practice at a buffet. Also, keep your eye on the check-the price on the menu and on the check might differ, not in you favor.

We were trying to find a good Indian restaurant close to home, rather than have to drive into Flushing all the time. This restaurant is close and is very good. We have now been twice and I am happy to say the food is consistently good, the service is excellent and the big plus(for now at least) is that it’s BYOB(the menu says it’s going to get a beer and wine license soon). Over the 2 visits we have had the vegetable samosas, chicken vindaloo, chicken biryani, masala aloo gobi, and saag paneer. Both times we came away very happy and very full! Outside of the great Indian restaurants in Flushing, this place is our local go to for Indian food.

What’s the best way to ensure you have the most attentive waiter? Be the only customer in the restaurant. Now I see why this place has such attractive groupon offers. It’s a ghost town in here. It actually makes me feel bad for them because the food was pretty good and the waiter was incredibly nice. He told us he came from the Westbury location to work at this one. They close between lunch and dinner so make sure they are open before you go. Check for a group too so you save yourself a couple of bucks. The serving sizes were medium but with nice presentation. We ordered papdum, naan, and they offered several different condiments. They additionally asked how spicy we wanted it. We should have said extra spicy because we said medium spice but it wasn’t that spicy but we are fans of spicy so to each their own. May be they thought we couldn’t handle it, who knows lol I got the butter chicken and basmati rice, very saucy and delicious clean nice chunks of chicken cooked very well. The rice was good too. No complaints there. The papadum was kind salty but I like salty stuff so that’s okay by me. My son got the curry goat and it was nice and tender and pretty flavorful but still not too spicy. The mango lassi was off the chain! The silverware was a little less than sparkling and some of it looked really old and in bad condition. No matter, I just asked for a replacement. The iced tea is unsweetened but they will offer you sugar on the side. It’s also kind of light. I prefer a darker tea. The seating area is a little tight particularly in the booths and it has a little roof offer it designed for you to get the ambiance of being outside in a little wooden hut. There is a multicolored screen with water going through it in the back but it’s covered by the buffet stations so it kind of defeats the purpose. I can only assume this place gets more business during their lunch buffet I mean otherwise how would they be able to stay open. I will come back for their buffet next time and find out.

Delhi 6 provides a unique twist on gorgeous Indian food with an awesome, awesome Nepalese chef. I was intrigued the last time I ate here by the Chinese soup that was part of the buffet. Well today, the chef had created a vegetarian Hot and Sour soup and some great vegetarian noodles that take you back to the north east part of India, specifically Assam or now Meghalaya and Nagaland. Same ingredients, same style, same flavor, same reaction from the millions and millions of satisfied foodies!!! Delhi 6 distinguishes itself from the standard Indian Hicksville and New Hyde Park cluster of restaurants with these specialties. Love the Black Dal — cooked overnight with the spices totally done and in; Love the Methi Paneer Matar — the fenugreek adding another lovely angle to the already superb cheese, peas and cashews in the cream sauce. The rice pudding was crazy good — not too sweet and just like grandma used to make it, cardamom, raisins and all! The tandoori chicken looked good as did the Goat Curry. The choice of fresh, hot bread brought in the basket to the table included the Naan and the Roti. I opted for the latter and it was very good. Love the $ 8.99 all you can eat Monday to Friday lunch buffet price. Catch a movie a 120 yards south of the restaurant after the food fest! Relaxed atmosphere with a nice gentleman named Raj from Hyderabad who really provided exceptional customer service and made an effort to get to know me. I got there at 2:15 pm, 45 minutes before they closed. Love it, love it, Love it!!! Overall in cricket terminology and expressions for those who know the game and have played it, Delhi 6 hits a 6(or a Grand Slam) every single time.

I hardly ever post reviews, but this place infuriated me. The portions are half the size of what they used to be(I have been here several times in the past few years), and they wouldn’t honor my friend’s groupon because one waiter said I could order an appetizer instead of an entrée and the other said he wouldn’t honor it. It’s really bad customer service to have to argue about having your groupon honored, and a real disappointment for what would otherwise have been a decent meal.

This place was pretty good I enjoyed the chicken vindaloo and the garlic naan was finessed. Will be coming back for sure.

If you like baby roaches crawling on your appetizer plate, then this is your kind of place!!! Disgusting!!! Also we were asked to leave for a half hour so the men could eat at 4 o’ clock. Really. There was no sign anywhere that they were not closed for business. Ugh!

Lunch Buffet $ 8.95, oh yeah! I decided to try Delhi 6 for a father son lunch this afternoon. I’ve seen the signs for the buffet lunch special and I was anxious to give it a try. My son and I walked in the door around 12:30 on a Friday afternoon. The restaurant was empty, only two other diners in the restaurant at the time. We were seated immediately in one of the three booths in a little covered portico in the restaurant. I like the décor, nicely done. However under the portico you can clearly hear the conversations of the tables next to you which can be a distraction at times. The temperature in the restaurant was on the cool side so we had to leave our jackets on. I’m not sure if the heat wasn’t working or what. I overheard the other party complain to the wait staff about the heat but I didn’t hear any explanation. After being seated we immediately went over to the buffet to begin our feast! While on the buffet line the waiter asked me if we preferred the garlic Nan or the plain Nan. So we began our selections, all of the basics were there, tandoori chicken, jeera rice(cooked with cumin seeds), Matar Mushrooms(cooked with green peas), Palak Cholley(a.k.a. Spinach and chick peas), and most importantly, the finally, rice pudding! All of the dishes were very flavorful. My favorites were the Chicken Makhni(chicken in a tomato based gravy) and the Goat Curry. The only unpleasant part of the meal is that the food was served luke warm and not piping hot. I’m guessing the lack of heat in the restaurant may have played a part in that. The Nan arrived midway through our meal after we had already finished our first plates. I think the waiter forgot about us because a table walked in after us and was brought out their Nan immediately. That being said I really enjoyed the Nan. It was light and flavorful and really complimented the meal well. We ordered the plain this time but I think next time we’ll try the garlic Nan. Yes, I said next time. This place is definitely worthy of another try. Although they were still a little rough around the edges with the service and the atmosphere in the restaurant this place has delicious food. I really enjoyed all of the items on the buffet. The rice pudding was the perfect ending to the meal. For $ 8.95 on weekdays this is a bargain you shouldn’t miss out on(if you’re as big of fan as I am for Indian food)

Went there for lunch buffet, food was really tasty. However, the rice was really dry and appeared to may have been leftover. Went there for dinner and the food was amazing! Ordered chicken vindaloo and goat curry. Rice was better this time. Both dishes were very flavorful. Wished they had more people dining in the evening.

I think this place is great! Clean, friendly service. I am a huge fan of bhindi masala – okra in masala sauce – and they make it well, with little chunks of onions and tomatoes. Also had chicken tikka masala, very tender and the saag paneer – mustard greens with cubed soft cheese – delicious. Overall great dining experience. Will come again for sure. Also for dessert rice pudding – kheer – yum!!!

Best Indian restaurant in the area. I’m not Indian but I’ve been eating Indian food over 35 years. This is good stuff. Plus management is very nice.

Came again for the 10.99 lunch buffet with my dad and this time I got my gf to come along. This is the only place I ever want Indian! The buffet is a great deal especially if your unsure if you would like something. With the buffet no harm no foul so try a little bit of everything

This was a very tasty find! My husband and I are new to the area and have been trying to find a good Indian spot with food that actually packs a punch. We stumbled on this place via Unilocal and decided to give it a go and to our surprise, it was delicious! I ordered the chicken vindaloo(extra spicy) and my husband had the chicken curry. Both dishes were super tender and flavorful. I also had some garlic naan which was to die for! Definitely fresh and toasty! Overall — it was a great find with new repeat customers! I only gave it 4 stars because the wait for the food is quite long — but it seems that the dishes are made to order.

For the immediate area this indian food is very good and i wish this place wasnt empty all the time because for a few mile radius this is as good as it will get. The chicken is sooo soft no knife is needed. Reccomedations: for appetizers try the creamy grilled mushrooms that are out f this world good and try the haryali kebab which brings the softest chicken u will ever get Main course all ive had is the chicken mahkni and its alright the indian restaurants in bellerose and queens make it better but for this direct area this is a good bet

The advertisement for a $ 8.99 lunch buffet($ 10.99 on weekends) caught my eye months ago as I was driving along Hillside Ave and since then I’ve bookmarked this place hoping to try it out. The buffet selection isn’t too wide, but all the classics are there — Lamb Vindaloo, Chicken Makhni, Palak Paneer(spinach, cheese & tofu), Aloo Gobi, etc. You can also order naan, which they will serve to you hot and is included in the lunch special. Those are some great offerings for a very reasonable price. While there are a few mainstays, the buffet menu is subject to change. So if you are expecting a particular dish, it’s possible that it may not be there that day. Such was so, the second time I visited this place, craving some chana masala. Unfortunately, it was not available that day and my craving went unsatisfied. The food is also a bit on the salty side(which some may consider flavorful so it’s really a matter of preference). But some fresh veggies — carrots, lettuce, chic peas — can help balance that out. The décor is a bit confusing and but it’s a quiet place to enjoy lunch on weekdays. Overall, I give this place a solid 3.5 TIP: If you come on a Tuesday afternoon, you can also catch a movie next door for their Super Tuesday price of $ 6.

With an unlit awning, nondescript location by a 99 cents store, and(once you get inside inside) ill-fitting fluorescent lava wall decòr, Delhi 6 does little to grab one’s attention, but my fiancé and I came in because of the single attempt at public advertisement that was made — a signpost that promised an affordable Indian food buffet. For $ 11 on weekends and $ 9 per person on weekdays, customers are welcome to stuff themselves silly on a small assortment of savory entrees. Though the offerings vary slightly from visit to visit, there are some dependable mainstays. During both of our visits, there was always a tray of fluffy biryani rice, a meat-based vindaloo, and salad and saucy condiments to round out the meal. Vegetarians and omnivores are equally welcome here at this seemingly humble buffet bar, with plenty of flavorfully dressed meats and veggies. My personal favorite was the creamy black lentils, or dahl, which were simmered overnight and made the perfect accompaniment to the free basket of naan that was brought to our table with our all-you-can-eat meal. Table service is exactly right — quiet, polite, and nearly unseen, as they clear used plates and refill water carafes without being asked. If you come on the right day, you can enjoy dessert with your buffet as they occasionally offer a cold, creamy rice pudding alongside its more savory neighbors. The menu boasts a greater variety of intriguing a la carte offerings(for significantly more than the buffet price, of course), but the lunchtime buffet was a lovely, cost-effective way to partake of a variety of their strongest dishes. There was never a wait nor a crowd on either of our visits and we walked out stuffed each time we went, for little over $ 10 a person.

Came for the weekday lunch buffet(only $ 8.95)…you get what you pay for. Wasn’t a fan of many of the dishes. A lot of the meat had significant fat/tendon — to be honest, I haven’t had too much experience with Indian cuisine, but this was a first. That being said, my favorite was the tandoori chicken, though I’ve had better at lunch buffets. Make sure to ask for the free Naan(garlic or regular), which seemed to be made fresh based on the timing. Would I come back? I would probably first try to look for an alternative if I had an Indian buffet craving.

Went back to Delhi 6 for dinner recently and unfortunately had to drop my rating a little. The samosa chat appetizer was OK, but my chicken tikka masala and husband’s chicken vindaloo were both suffering from a very strong tomato flavor – almost ketchupy. The vindaloo was not spicy at all and the chicken was not as tender as I am used to getting from our regular Indian restaurant.

Went here initially with a Groupon for lunch. We couldn’t have the buffet, so we ordered off the menu. We had chickpeas with spinach and paneer in a cashew sauce. Both were delicious and plentiful. Service was good. The restaurant is modestly decorated and small. Returned for the lunch buffet a week later. It was also very good, with many choices. We will be returning again for dinner this week.
