It has become pretty much tradition for my friends and I to rush into the station, grab a footlong and run to catch the train to GCT before a night of drinking on Friday. Service varies alot but for the most part has been really friendly in my experience! They do not use the pre-served cartons of food that some Subways use but rather use a scoop so that’s nice. Other than that, it is Subway and you know what to expect.

Fast trainstation service at a reasonable price. The staff are friendly once you get them to smile!

Wed, August 5, 2015 at 4:30PM. 50 cents for ice? When I asked filed water, the person said they have no water. When asked for ice, this person said it’s 50 cents. 50 cents for ice at Subway?

Wow. There are precious few places besides restaurants in new haven station where I’d say: byo. Bring your own food. If you get soup at subway, bring your own spoon(none) crackers(nope) salt and pepper?(Nada). Hmmmm

For a train station Subway, it isn’t terrible(or terribly overpriced — STAMFORD I’M LOOKINGATYOU.) It’s a bit rich to assume people are bound strictly for New York when embarking here, if I’m getting on a Northeast Regional to Washington DC, then yeah — I’m bringing food. Amtrak has the café car, but at least this Subway participates in $ 5 footlong pricing. Yeah, if you’re taking Metro North, you should suck it up until you get to the city, but hey… sometimes a $ 5 footlong hits the spot. It’s definitely cramped, but like I said, I’ve seen worse.

Some of you Unilocalers are a funny bunch. You’re on your way to NYC or coming from NYC, and you’re eating at this Subway? WTF? NYC has unlimited food options. Many consider it to be the food capital of the nation. You can find all different sorts of good food there. And you’re eating at this Subway? That’s not rich. That’s reality and the majority of people who use this station. My advice is either grab something nice in NYC before your train leaves or hold your appetite until your train arrives in NYC. Even Grand Central Terminal has better food options than this New Haven train terminal. Some of the food selections on the lower level of GCT aren’t bad. If you do this, your stomach and overall well being will thank me. The only thing I’ll grab at this Subway is sometimes a soda. It tastes like a soda.

I was really hungry and didn’t have anywhere else to go. I’ll usually just suffer rather than get crappy food. But I thought: «Hey, Subway can’t be that bad, right… I had it once five or so years back.» So, I went and ordered their one of their numerous cheap sandwiches, with all of the usual veggies. Well, that may have been the worst sandwich I’ve had in my life. The bread tasted a bit stale(I remember this from Subway before), the veggies tasted old, oh… and the chicken was bad also. This is in the NH Amtrak Station, which at night is full of drug addicts, tranny prostitutes, and crazy homeless people who will do everything but not talk to you, even if you don’t listen. That’s the atmosphere. But in general this is how I feel about all Subway restaurants!

Sufficient train station Subway shop. It’s really small so you can’t have more than two(maybe three?) people with their bags inside. There was no line when I was there. I got a salad off the menu that the guy working has clearly never made before since he had to look up at the picture to see what it was. Service was prompt and polite. Overall, my salad was good for a to-go transit salad. Lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, grilled chicken and cranberry vinaigrette. Nothing elaborate but healthy and the vinaigrette was light and tasty. They have bottled water behind the counter, not in the soda fridge.
