I ordered fried rice it was so good, but keep in mind the place is very small and the ventilation is not good, so if u want to dine in please have a seat outside the reassurance. One more thing they accept only cash. Food quality is really good.

I’ve been here countless times throughout my four years of living in New Haven as I lived literally five minutes from Pad Thai. Even now, I keep going and will be my go-to place when I revisit New Haven. I usually go for the pad thai, drunken noodle, or the homestyle duck as my entrée, and they’re all fantastic.(Their drunken noodle has been getting spicier recently, so you might want to mention to go down on the spice if you don’t like the heat.) There’s a pretty good lunch set here with soup and salad that comes in a bento-like box. They also have the regular dinner entreés for cheaper in smaller portions. There’s a student discount here as well, so it’s one of the cheaper Thai places for students. Any time something has gone wrong or wasn’t exactly satisfying, they’ve brought out a new dish, declined that I pay for the meal, or gave me a thai iced tea on the way out. It’s a small, open layout venue, so it’s easy to flag down the waiter/waitress. One tip they don’t advertise is that if you get the thai iced tea for take out, it’s only $ 1. Definitely go for it, it’s really sweet and goes well with some of their spicier dishes.

The drunken noodle is very good! I get takeout from here on the regular, and occasionally dine in. I love the atmosphere in the restaurant. It smells wonderful and is very comfortable and cozy. The lunch box special with green curry is also very good– the curry and rice are both very aromatic. 4 stars only because it’s good but I didn’t find it super exceptional. Also, I have yet to venture outside of my regular orders and try any of the specials

HANDSDOWNBESTPADTHAI I HAVEEVERHAD. Their pineapple fried rice is pretty amazing too. Lunch prices are very very affordable and dinner price is pretty cheap, too. It’s easy and quick bite, where you can go for a casual meal with friends. Don’t expect much décor or great ambience. The server here is very, very nice. I’m surprised by the service every time. Great food, great people. It’s a pretty small space and gets full during dinner times. JUSTAMAZINGFOOD.

Attractive, clean, delicious. Reasonable prices. Loved the vegetarian pad Thai. Parking can be an issue; plan for that. Busy at lunch!

Ordered take out through the Unilocal, and it was ready in ten minutes. The drunken noodles were fantastic here. It was not so heavy on basil like Thai Taste was. Pad Thai was lighter than I am used to, but it was yummy! I was thankful that it was not overly sweet. We definitely will try this place again.

Originally 5 stars: Some of the most delicious thai food in New Haven. Especially for delivery, this is amazing. The drunken noodles are so good, the massuman curry, mai tai appetizer. EDIT2 stars: I ordered two more times from this restaurant. The same dishes: The drunken noodles were dry with no flavor, the massuman curry was watery like a thin soup and lacked any flavor. Inconsistency will keep me from ordering take out from here again.

Very very delightful little nugget close to Yale! All the entries are filling, the soups are flavorful, and the prices are right! I’m coming back for sure :)

A delightful little spot to enjoy freshly cooked Pad Thai noodles or whatever else you choose. My teenage daughter is an East Coast Pad Thai aficionado and she loves it here! Prices reasonable, service fast and with a smile. This is not a fancy place, but the food tastes like a friend is a making it for you in their kitchen. Every time we come we see families with babies, couples old and young, and grandparents with their grandkids. There are portraits of Thai royalty on the walls and old family photos. very charming. I tried the Drunken noodles yesterday and they were wonderful… this is our favorite«off the beaten track» spot to rest and enjoy an honest-home cooked and delicious meal after shopping on Chapel and Broadway. A true gem!

You seriously cannot find better Thai food in New Haven than this place. Went on a taste test of pretty much all the Thai restaurants in New Haven when I first moved to the city, and hands down this is the best. Been coming here for over 3 years now! If you are looking for amazing Thai food, come here!!!

This is my 3 time at Pad Thai, and they never fail to satisfy. I came with my mom at the beginning of the school year and they were really busy. The food took a long time to come, but they were understaffed and I understood that. all other times I came, the service was great and the food came at a timely manner. I love their tom yum soup and drunken noodles. And they give out a student discount. one of my favorite places to go to when I’m craving some cheap Thai food.

Pad Thai is my favorite Thai restaurant in New Haven. The food is cheaper than other nearby restaurants, the service is far superior, and the food is great! The waitress who is always working is so sweet and friendly! She handles all of the tables in the restaurant on her own and does a fantastic job! The women who work at Thai Taste across the street have always been unfriendly and rude to me, so I’d rather go here any day. Favorite dish is the spicy noodles.

Pad Thai is hands down my favorite Thai place in New Haven. With 4 Thai restaurants within one block it can be difficult to decide which one to go to. I have tried most of them and Pad Thai is definitely the best. The owners are so friendly and accommodating and the service is impeccable. They can turnover a table in under 30 minutes. The food is amazing regardless of what you order, but my favorite item on the menu is the fried wontons! There are few things I’ve eaten as miraculous as their fried wontons. Definitely make it a point to visit pad Thai next time you find yourself on Chapel Street!

I was skeptical to try this place with all the mixed reviews. I was staying at the hotel across the street so it was hard not to try. I think the food is very good just like what I had when I used to live in Thailand. It tasted authentic to me, not overly sweet like other thai places in the US and the price is reasonable($ 6.99) I ordered stir fried spicy squid with green beans for lunch and I would definitely go back to this place when I am in town. Highly recommended if you feel like authentic Thai food!

I strongly recommend a drunken noodle and green curry in this restaurant. That is so nice! I think that this is the best oriental food restaurant in Yale. The waitress who is in the restaurant is very nice and has professional mind. In my case, the drunken noodle, green curry, and coconut shrimp is the best in here.

The drunken noodle was good, and maybe very good. The room isn’t quite as nice(or spacious) as Thai Taste’s, but the food is comparable. I liked that the noodle dish wasn’t soupy like Bangkok Garden’s. None of these thai places offer amazing or inventive food, but Pad Thai does as good a job as any with the staples. I’ll be back.

got takeout from here the other night — pad thai and chicken satay. pad thai: at first glance I was skeptical. It looked pretty plain and not like most American pad thai where the noodles have a reddish tint to them from the spices/etc. And at first bite it wasn’t really like the average pad thai. But then it started tasting super familiar, and I realized that this was AUTHENTIC pad thai, just like the kind I got on the street in Bangkok. A very exciting find. chicken satay: pretty standard. peanut sauce was great. it’s a lot of chicken for about $ 5 and could be a meal on it’s own. I don’t think the food is necessarily the best Thai food ever, and I don’t think everyone will appreciate it because it’s probably not the type of Thai food they are used to in the US. Keep in mind that pad thai is really a street food/fast food thing, and I think the version here really holds true to that. Also, looking at the rest of the menu, it seems like the rest of their offerings are pretty authentic — there must have been 5 or 6 different types of salad and a bunch of different soups(staples in Thailand), whereas these choices are usually very limited in other Thai restaurants. The place is small, but they do take reservations if you plan on coming at peak meal times. I’d recommend going for an early dinner, because around 6pm on a Friday it was completely packed.

I find that this restaurant has been underrated. They have really good ingredient and service. Yale kids could also get 10% discount. Will come back again!

The food was good but not as good as bangkok or thai taste across the street. Unlike other thai restaurants, the entrees do not have the little tinge of sweetness that one would usually find in a basil fried rice or drunken noodles. Satay chicken starter was bland. It tasted and looked like it was reheated. It definitely did not look and taste fresh. Spicy noodles stood out of all the entrees i tried here. Definitely try it if you happen to go here. The service was good. The ambience was quiet and the price was affordable.

Despite the name of the restaurant being Pad Thai, the pad thai is only average — I prefer the drunken noodle. Pretty standard Thai fare, the noodle dishes are probably your best bet here. Good place to get Thai tea as well. It’s a small space that’s well-heated and cozy, so a good place to take refuge in the New Haven winter.
