I have to eat gluten-free, and there is one person who works there who ACTUALLY knows what that means, so I’m VERY thankful for her. Problem is when she’s NOT there, it’s hit or miss. I have a bowl, no taco or bread-related soft wrap, and get the black beans and various trimmings. I ask them to use new gloves, fresh utensils, and to be aware of cross-contamination as they prepare. It’s what one would expect. Convenient, fast, and edible. This price is more than I would expect, but I guess $ 8 for a dish of food is not bad these days. I have not gotten sick there.

I’ve gone to Moe’s many times. I love their burritos, but sometimes I want something different. I have given their tacos a try twice and both times they were terrible. The first time around I used the Moe’s app to order ahead of time so I could just pick up my food and bring it back to work. I ordered two basic tacos, ground beef, veggies, and sour cream. By the time I opened up my food it was so soggy that I had no choice but to eat it straight from the tin foil. It was as if my tacos were never given a shell. The tacos also ate a hole through my bag which meant that half of my chips fell all over the floor. Yesterday I decided to try again, which was about two months after the first sloppy incident. I ordered tacos at the counter, drove the 5 minute ride home, and once again was extremely disappointed. I was unable to hold my tacos and had to eat them with a fork out of the tin foil again. Call me crazy, but three tacos and a side of queso should not equal close to $ 15 of slop to eat with a form. When I make tacos at home never EVER have I had this problem. It is as if the tacos need to be eaten right as your server finishes adding the last ingredients, before you would even pay. For a total of close to $ 30 I feel taken. Whether or not this is fast food, I expect my money to go toward something I will enjoy and want to eat. Never ever again. To corporate Moe’s, you need to find or make a superior taco shell that is NOT a chip.

I been facing this store 4x a week for months now. It’s time for me to go in what they have. Ok… Really… I rather go long wharf if I want a real burritos food.

This is amazing Mexican food. My whole family loves this place! Especially when I was craving it during my pregnancy.

Fast Food: Rating based on the basic understanding that this is fast food, and corporate. Hungry at a weird hour when all the good food trucks are closed, and you can’t drive to long warf to get a real taco at Ixtapa, and only have $ 4.25 in your pocket? $ 3.25 for a veg taco, with sour cream, guac, big bag of chips, and fresh salsa. Salty and spicy and yummy. I’m grading this compared to Taco Bell, and McDonalds, and Subway… Because it’s fast food. It’s decent fast food though. I’ve eaten here quite a bit when in a pinch and working. It’s like this… You don’t compare Legally Blonde and Apocalypse Now. They are both good movies, but, you don’t grade them against each other. STAY away from the queso cheese. It’s plastic and the most chemically toxic item in here, even compared with their cleaning products. I don’t want to describe what happened the one time I ate a container of this during a PMS whim. Indulge instead in a pork burrito, and guacamole, and like me, you can stow half for tomorrow’s lunch.

I’m leaving a review not because I dislike Moe’s, but because I came here and the place looked like it had not been cleaned in a week. The floor was so dirty, the trash was overflowing, and the tables were all caked and sticky with food. There was trash everywhere on the floor, particularly under one table near by where I was eating. Like I said, I like Moe’s, but the cleanliness was awful. There was plenty of people on staff, but maybe it was an off day. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, so maybe it will be better next time.

Good food. Love the homewrecker burritos with tofu. It’s a good place to get a vegan burrito. The salsa bar and free chips make Moe’s far better than Chipotle. They’re cheaper as well and have a lot more variety in their menu. They have a frequent customer program where you can get every 10th meal free and are an especially good deal on Moe Mondays.

Chipotle with culture is how I see this place. Fun music and comfy seating. Great boritoes and a nice Monday deal(Burrito chips and salsa + drink 6.99).

Fast, cheap, Chipotle like food in an off the beaten path location of New Haven for a Yale student. Pretty standard and I remember them marketing hard when I was in school three years ago but with the emergence of Chipotle I see it hard pressed to make your way here unless in the area. Really, a good solid burrito that I wouldn’t go out of my way for.

The food is okay for fast food and it’s pretty cheap compared to others. I would pick Chipotle over this place but that’s not saying much.

Blander than chipotle, but go for the Moe Monday deal. Queso was alright. The salsa bar was a great touch!

Moe Monday is so worth it. $ 6 burrito hell yes. With a drink for $ 8, even better. Normal price other days put it around $ 11. Yes they are fresh, and your burrito or taco or rice bowl is what you make it. If you put meat and beans and rice and lettuce in a burrito with nothing to add flavor, it will be bland. If you add pico or cilantro or bacon or jalepeno’s, or one of the 5 salsas from the salsa bar it will have flavor. The whole point of this place is fresh options in your Tex-Mex. Options, as in they didn’t decide for you to put narsty corn in your burrito, or make it impossible to avoid avocado. You order what you want, and only what you want. This also makes it very allergy-friendly. There is a teeny tiny sticker chart that tells the allergy info. Ask if you aren’t sure, the staff is helpful in the New Haven store. Personally the green tomatillo salsa is amazing, and it goes right on my burrito when I sit down. If you know what you like, this place is great, if you don’t know what you want and get sucked in, it will be what ever you designed it to be. Be resourceful, its good quality ingredients, try out the options. Also, iced tea is legit, you can mix unsweetened, sweet tea, and green. Lemon slices available and sweeteners available. If you like what you like, you will like Moe’s. If you don’t know what you want… Unilocal help you.

By far the best salsa in town! Quick and no line. Lots of seating space, slightly dark. Lots of options and no extra charge for guac. Bike park right outside

This is your typical chain burrito place. Really people pick your poison here. Many of my friends and I argue which one is better. Moe’s or Chipotle. I like both for different reasons. For Moe’s — these are the 3 main reasons. 1) Guacamole is not an extra change on their standard popular burrito — Homewrecker! 2) Chips are always free. 3) Moe’s hot sauce! On the burrito and even when I just get a salad I just put that on it with no dressing and its delisch!

I was glad that the food was fresh, but nothing special. I ordered a steak burrito that was boring and bland. The location was also difficult to visit. The whole area has metered parking. The food was not good enough to pay extra to park.

Meh. I mean, I get it, I can see the bar filled with fresh ingredients and I can watch them slop it onto whatever I want but the end result just tasted so… meh. I saw the fresh but didn’t taste the fresh. The guacamole tasted like the plastic bag it was squeezed out of. WIth the imminent opening of a Chipotle in New Haven I doubt I’ll be making a trip to Moe’s again in the future.

I have been a fan of Moe’s since my first meal there nearly 10 years ago. This location is prefect for those who work downtown or on North Campus/Science Hill. Its probably not worth the trek from the Med School campus. The seating area and bathrooms are always clean and the staff is friendly, although they seem to cycle quite a bit. Although, it does seem to have an odd smell most of the time, and its not from the food. This is my favorite to place to dine, hands down.

This place is basically Chipotle, but a little less polished. On the plus side, they offer tofu for their burritos, tacos and even a stir-fry bowl. Chipotle could learn a lesson or two. Now, if only Moe’s offered seitan and tempeh, then we’d be in vegan heaven. I had a burrito custom made with black beans, tofu, guacamole, green chilis, rice, lettuce and onions($ 7.40 with tax). It came with white corn chips and a variety of free salsas. The burrito was fairly large and I loved that they offered a wholegrain wrap, rather than just crappy white flour tortillas. I think the burrito itself didn’t come together spectacularly, but it was more than edible and tasted much better once I poured some green and red salsas on it. The chips were great: perfectly thin and crisp and they didn’t feel heavy or oily at all. All in all, Moe’s is a decent spot for a biggish, inexpensive meal. As I stated earlier, if they had seitan, tempeh and maybe some interesting vegan desserts, I’d probably come back more often.
