Nice, quaint little spot. Took my puppy here today, hoping to run into a few other dogs. No luck with other dogs but she loved the water and climbing on the rocks. Huge park and such a variety of people. fishermen/women, people watchers, love birds, afternoon diners, walkers, joggers oh well might as well acknowledge the panhandlers too. lol I found a nice little fenced in area for her to run and play in. looks like it could have been for Bocci ball or something. Anywho. minus the little bit of trash. it was a decent spot we totally enjoyed it.

I can’t believe this park has only one other review. I’m guessing because it is sort of hidden and overshadowed by it’s neighboring Lighthouse Point Park. Well, East Shore Park is conveniently located off I-95, has ample free parking, has a nicely paved walkway by the water, is not overrun with people like at other parks/beaches, and has tons of grassy areas for picnics, playing with kids, dogs, etc. There are also several baseball fields, soccer fields and a seemingly unused indoor ice skating rink? In my opinion, lots of usable space that is unused by the city. My only complaints, albeit minor, are that some of the grassy areas were largely overgrown, like it went up my calves as I tried to make a shortcut across the park. I’m hoping that public works or the parks dept. cuts the grass in small sections and maybe just hasn’t gotten to all of it yet. Also, the nearby water/sewage treatment plant has quite an odor on some days. I actually thought I stepped in dog poop until I realized where the stench was coming from. Either way, my dog and I enjoyed a picturesque walk on a beautiful day and will be back to enjoy the end of summer and start of fall.

For jogging in spring or fall, this place is one of my favorites. Because it’s got all those big open fields, it always gets a lot of sun in the afternoon and the sunsets are pretty. There’s a big, round 1 mi loop and there’s always a few other people walking or running, and folks with dogs tend to keep them leashed. It’s not as crowded as West Haven, but it’s plenty social. Sometimes there’s a ton of people parked near the practice fields(but there’s always parking available if you go a bit further in) and sometimes you feel like you might get hit by a stray softball, but in general people respect each others use of the park and everyone is there to stretch their legs and get some fresh air. If the wind is in the wrong direction, though, the whole place stinks from the water treatment plant. Such is life.
