My friend recommended Andy and this salon so I tried it out. While the staff was extremely warm and nice– the service was poor.
He conceded he cannot style and blow dry with a brush. Never before have I experienced a stylist who couldn’t do that. I was left with 85% dried hair that was slowly taking the form of a mop. The second I left the salon I put my hair in a ponytail and stuffed it in my hat
I gave him the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe the cut could still good. I had to re-​wash my hair that night because I actually would feel embarrassed in public with his blow dry. Unfortunately the cut is terrible and I will be wearing my hair in a small ponytail until it grows out a bit.
The $ 50 haircut was worth $ 20.

I’ve been getting my hair cut from Jamie for quite a while now — he’s great! I’ve always been pleased with my cut, and he’s great to talk to, and listens to what you want. Everyone else at the salon is also always nice and friendly.

Jamie is a great stylist and great guy. A rock star stylist, and an actual rock star. You will leave with a great style and a new friend. A New Haven institution that comes highly recommended if you are in town.

This is the best salon in New Haven but it’s a bit of a hidden gem since it’s on a back alley. Jamie regularly cuts my hair and he always does a fantastic job. He’s very experienced and has a great sense of style. He listens but he’s also got great suggestions if you’re not sure what you want.

i recently had a color and cut by christy, and my hair came out fantastic! christy always does an amazing job — i’ve been going to her for six years and have never been disappointed.
andy, the owner of the salon, always has great conversation and makes you feel welcome. tina, who works at the front desk most days, is absolutely lovely and is super nice and friendly. this is the best salon in new haven!

I did not have a good experience here. Griffin’s (sp.?) technique was haphazard, and she gave me a very uneven haircut. It’s like she wasn’t even paying attention. Far too expensive for an unskilled haircut.
