Food is decent … Typical diner food. having been here multiple times Wait staff SUCKS and takes forever except for the two younger girls.

The«Big Breakfast» gives you eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, AND pancakes or french toast, all for $ 7. Hard to beat that. Service was slow but we weren’t in a hurry. Blinds were all closed — weird, we thought maybe they were closed when we drove in. Bottom line, it’s good cheap diner food. You’re here to eat, not for the atmosphere.

Small hidden diner near Gateway community college. Been coming here since I was little, food is pretty good and staff if friendly. Prices have gone up and it seems very tight in some of the seating areas.

This is the first time I have never left a tip. My coffee was cold my French toast was supposed to be on Texas toast was brought to me on regular white slices. Soggy and not flavorful. A little cinnamon and sugar would have helped. The staff was incredibly loud. And our food arrived separately. I loved hearing how the woman who cashes people out is mad at her brother for stealing rings and such from her. Totally disappointed. I know Codys is a dicey greasy spoon but this by far was the worst visit.

Place wasn’t bad. Food was good. Service was ok. Not a bad experience. I’m not from around here so just got a recommendation from Google. Would def come by again if in the area

I think what time you come in to Cody’s/what day can really affect your experience. I have been twice for breakfast on Sunday, and I’ve really enjoyed Cody’s both times. The polarizing reviews of this place kept me away for longer than it should have, which is a shame because I live in the neighborhood. Both times I have been, the service has been friendly and mostly attentive. Once we have ordered, the food comes out FAST(I don’t think I waited more than 10 minutes). The food has been delicious for what it is — greasy diner food. I’ve tasted the turkey club sandwich, which had surprisingly quality turkey on it; a steak and cheese omelet; and the steak bomb breakfast sandwich. In both cases, the steak was perfectly seasoned and not overly greasy. I definitely recommend stopping by Cody’s when you want some satisfying food that is cheap and fast. I’ll be back soon.

I love this place, so all the haters can check their attitudes. No, the food is not mind blowingly good, but it is incredibly cheap and tasty and served quite quickly. The place is a bit small, but its size gives it a cozy kind of charm. Cody’s Breakfast is definitely the best deal in the place where you can get a couple eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, and either french toast or pancakes for $ 7. Try finding that deal elsewhere. I’ve always found the staff to be polite and friendly and most of all hard working. There are often only 3 or 4 people working(including kitchen, cashier, and waitress) to serve the whole restaurant, and I’ve never waited longer than 10 – 15 minutes for my food, whether the place is full or I’m the only one in there.

I love this place. It’s a classic«greasy spoon». Very good food, generally good service and a place where the neighborhood regulars and people passing through can relax and have a casual bite to eat.

I was totally insulted by the price of their eggs. I went in this evening and ordered 4 eggs and a side of bacon nothing else. They charged me over $ 9.00. A complete rip off.

Left the operating room at 11:00PM and was starving. Had a huge, awesome prime rib AUJUS sandwich, advertised as one of their house specialties, with sautéed onions, mushrooms, L & T(they weren’t necessary) and jalapeños. Will definitely come back and get the exact same thing. Who doesn’t love au jus? Can’t comment on any of their other food. Comfortable late night New Haven vibe too.

Was staying in town about a stone throws away from this diner. That made it very convenient for breakfast, so we went in what ended being every morning. Each time I was greeted, and my servers were attentive, and very nice. The food was really good. It’s hard to mess up a breakfast, so I judge it by how«home cooking» it is, and I felt more like I was eating at home than in a restaurant. Prices were fair, and the food came out quickly enough. Made my week in town start off each day with full belly, cup of coffee and some friendly people.

Food is typical of late-night diners, i.e., greasy and not so good(2 stars; admittedly, I haven’t found too many diners that I like), though it will keep you going on a cold night. Being open 24⁄7 also helps, as my husband and I came into New Haven on the overnight train and needed somewhere to eat and do stuff from 4am until things started opening later in the day. Waitresses left us alone for the most part, but did offer coffee refills every so often. In other words, they did just enough to make sure that we were okay, which was fine by us.

In New Haven this week picking up truck parts. Was told to check out Cody’s for breakfast because they had great food. I’ll give them that — the food was good. My boyfriend and I both enjoyed it. But that’s about the only thing we enjoyed. The moment we walked in all 8 booths were taken. We sat at the counter and immediately asked if we could switch to a booth when one opened up. An older woman(server, NOT the cashier woman) — who didn’t even take our order — told us what booths we her’s. Our server, young girl, very nice, had another two booths. Well the one that opened wasn’t her’s, but it was DIRECTLY next to it. I moved all my own items, cleaned the table myself, etc. After I sat down(mind you, our food is already almost ready) this much older woman with white/blonde hair comes over to me and the first thing she says is «you can’t sit here.» Reason why? «You didn’t tell me you were moving.» Oh, I would have loved to have told you — if you were ANYWHERE in sight when we walked into the establishment. Anyways, this crochety old woman proceeded to go on and on about how we couldn’t sit there.(We didn’t move, mind you) Coming from someone who has worked in every aspect of the restaurant industry for 12+ years now, first off, it’s not that hard to take a tables that is RIGHT next to your precious sections. Also, you CANNOT go up to a guest and tell them where they can or can’t sit. You also CANNOT ask them to get up from a seat. I don’t know if she is just employed there or owns it(LORDHELPTHEM if she is the owner) but it was THE most unprofessional experience of my entire life. Maybe I hold other restaurants to too high of a standard because I run one myself, but this woman confirmed that I will never step foot inside this place again. Management — if you’re reading this, maybe you should remind your staff what they can and cannot say to guests — people that are paying your bills. Stay far away from this place — well atleast as long as that awful woman is there.

24 – 7 greasy spoon diner. I liked going for the nostalgic atmosphere, as it feels like a retro place that would be fun to hang out in. Food was good, and would probably taste better after a long night out. I’m too much of an old geezer to stay out late these days, so someone else can verify if this place is good after a night like that. Bring cash, as that’s what they accept. If you don’t have any, there is an ATM in the building that you can use.

Quaint diner. I was in CT for two nights and both nights I went to this diner! Our server is really the reason that I gave this place 4 stars(her name was Shade) and their banana pancakes! It’s a diner, so in comparison to other diners their prices are BEYOND reasonable, and the food and the service is fast and friendly

Not a bad place. It’s pretty small, has parking and two TVs that were set to Food Network the last time I went there. Wheelchair accessible and seat-yourself. I got the Cody Dog(a hotdog with bacon and cheese) and it was alright. There wasn’t a lot of snap to the dog. The cheese is a typical nacho sauce, really thick and heavy. Wouldn’t get it again. I got the cheese on the side, and they gave me a huge cereal bowl of it with a spoon and charged $ 1.50. Which was sort of weird. The onion rings weren’t the best I’ve had, but I would order them over the fries. My fiancée got a plain cheeseburger with mayo and ketchup, and fries. The burger wasn’t bad. It had a very light charbroiled taste and the cheese was almost melted all the way. A little greasy but not terrible. I wasn’t a fan of the fries, but she liked them and if you’re into the crinkle-cut, slightly mushy variety, you will too. Expect a diner when you eat here, not a five, or even three, star restaurant. The food is unhealthy to say the least, and not that impressive. But it’s cheap, nearby and has a comfortable atmosphere. Not a bad late night hangout spot or a place for a quick lunch. The sandwiches looked pretty good, and when I go back, I’ll be trying one.

Local, late night/open 24 hours, quintessential diner. I’ve only been here twice, but its kind of what you expect for a diner in New Haven. Old school décor(but they do have large flat screen TV’s on the wall) and somewhat sketchy drunk patrons getting their grub on. Great for people watching… especially after 11pm! Their food is very reasonable and pretty tasty for a greasy spoon, as another Unilocaler called it. They have a late night menu(2 pages) for the late night eaters. I had a bacon and egg sandwich on a bagel with a side of corned beef hash. The egg sandwich came on a choice of either a hard roll, english muffin or bagel. The bagel was surprising thin, but very soft and had a nice consistency overall. I had expected a thick, chewy bagel and it was not… but it was perfect for the base of my egg sandwich. Hash was tasty… a little on the fatty side but that’s probably where most of the flavor came from. No complaints for a less than $ 10 late night munchy. My companion had a chicken souvlaki on pita bread that included a side of(crinkle cut) french fries. She enjoyed it and it looked pretty yummy. Waitress was nice and food came out quick.

I’ve been here a few times, which was a few times too many. I really wish this place were better; I live so close and it’s open 24 hours. The food has been OK(2 stars, even on a diner-food scale), but the thing that really sinks Cody’s in my mind is the service. Vignette 1: My wife and in-laws went for a late lunch(~3pm) and took a booth. Shortly thereafter a huge group of schoolkids show up. The waitress wouldn’t even take our orders until after all of those kids had their food, EVENTHOUGHTHEYSHOWEDUPAFTERUS. Vignette 2: I stopped in to get a take-out lunch. I ordered my food and when it came out, the cashier had disappeared. I waited another 5 minutes for her to return, as did another table that wanted to pay and leave. The waitress told us she would lose her job if she took our money. So both the other table and I ended up leaving cash(meaning I left more of a tip than was warranted). Of course when I got home(2 blocks away), the food was cold. Vignette 3: The same cashier told my father in-law that the credit card reader was acting really slow, and suggested he walk to an ATM to get cash.
