I’ve gotten take-out here for a long time since it’s my favorite Thai place. Everything I’ve gotten here has been great especially my favorite dish the drunken noodles. The interior is cute with a section were you can overlook York street while eating. The staff are attentive, though not always the warmest since their English does not seem to be the best. Overall a really great Thai place for takeout or eating inside. Pros: cheap, great food, downtown location Cons: servers can be a bit hard to understand but doesn’t really affect service

Great food. Had the papaya salad, tom kha soup, and steamed vegetables with peanut sauce. Delivery was quite fast. I do wish, however, that it would be possible to choose level of spiciness. The papaya salad had way more chile in it than I’m typically used to, despite lots of experience with thai food.

I ate there only once but the service was very good, and the food was very tasty ! I don’t eat asian food oftenly but the soup and the noodles that I took were very good ! Good points: the prices are very correct and there’s a discount for Yale students. When you take a look at the menu, you can see wich dishes are spicy(it’s written). For sure I’ll come back.

The food was delicious, I recommend trying the drunken noodles as well as the tom yum goong. The staff was very helpful as I had ordered a beef but was given a chicken and was immediately given a new meal.

Food is alright, but I think for the price, I would much rather go to Thai Taste instead. Service Normal service, nothing out of the ordinary Food Normal, I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here. I ordered eggplant basil before and chicken pad thai. Again, normal taste.

Not as good as pad Thai on chapel! We order gyoza appetizer which are dumplings and we got the chicken steamed. Tasted like Costco ling-ling potstickers. They didn’t even come in bamboo boxes like dim sum. So weird. I ordered pad se ew, it was bland. I didn’t even know how to fix it… More salt? More soy? My dad got the ginger beef. That was okay! But service was pretty bad. The lady was rude in the way she spoke and our dumplings didn’t come for the longest time when the restaurant was empty! When they came they were 1″ long! I mean how long does it take to steam those? I hope it was an off night because it’s very close to my work and I want to go again!

Just had a delivery from here. Vegetable Pad Thai, and Chicken Drunken Noodles. This was the best Thai food I have had in New Haven. Everything was well done, good spice, and very fresh. I have marked this restaurant as one of my favorites. Now I will have to try it in person. Soon!

The food here was so tasty. I ordered spicy fired rice, rad nah and fired calamari. All of them were so delicious. The service here was great too. I got my food quick too.

This is such a cute little restaurant, especially if you sit in the glass room. The pad Thai had almost no vegetables(mostly noodles) and the sea food medley had little seafood. The flavor of the food was good and the serving size was very appropriate.

Pick any other Thai place in New Haven. You will have better food. The service certainly made a valiant(though slow) effort but it is hard to hide bad food. First, we had the summer rolls. They weren’t big offenders, merely offering a bland taste but still being what was advertised. I think in a previous review, I’d mentioned the worst Pad Thai I’d ever had. Well, that bar has changed once again. A nice lady at another table had a pleasant-looking Pad Thai so myself and a colleague who was new to Thai food ordered that. The resulting dish was something I could only eat one bite of. Though it was chicken Pad Thai, it reeked of seafood and tasted only of that single note. She agreed– and even another friend was shocked at the quality. I will say they let us choose again, but I would still warn anyone that this Pad Thai is toxic. I’m told the salmon is good, especially with hot sauce. But spending almost an hour and a half searching for something resembling good Thai food shouldn’t be this hard. The re cooked food was entirely different. The Pad Thai– better. I had Pad See Eew instead and it was a decent dish. Though I wish I hadn’t come here and it feels a total waste– so many good options and I ended up here.

The best Thai food I’ve ever had(and I’ve had a lot). We got pad Thai, chicken fried rice, masaman curry, shrimp paradise, and Tom yum soup. All excellent! And good service too.

Love it! Tried the steam vegetables with peanut sauce and rice. Very healthy and filling. My favorite part about this place… the mai tais! Oh my goodness I can’t get over how delicious and strong these are. Let’s not forget that they are also cheap! I believe a mai tai(pretty big) was about $ 6 dollars! I had two which is probably why my memory on the price is foggy. Love strong drinks… definitely a bang for your buck. Atmosphere is cute and friendly. Food is well prepared and presented. Best date night ever!

I am by no means an expert in Thai food, but my date recommended this restaurant, and I had a great experience. We came during off hours and the windowed dining area was mostly empty. The staff was very attentive since we were pretty much the only people there. For an appetizer we had the Crab Rangoon, which was excellent. For our entrees, we split the West Chapple Duck and the soft-shelled crab dish. The duck was very well prepared. It was very tender but not dripping with grease and duck tends to. The sauce was flavorful but not spicy at all despite what was indicated on the menu. The crab was very good as well. The crab meat alone is almost too salty, but when combined with the sauce, it works wonderfully. The portions were massive and neither dish was finished completely. I would definitely return to try more dishes.

Bangkok Gardens’ drunken noodle is a a little mushy and there is slightly less chicken of slightly lower quality compared to the same dish at Thai Taste and Pad Thai. On the other hand, it’s cheaper with the Yale discount, and is an even larger portion. This is a more than passable meal for two for the grand total of $ 6.70. It seems hard to believe that this restaurant can survive on those prices, but who knows? Definitely okay for when you’re feeling frugal.

Everyone I know in the area seems to love this place and thinks it’s the best Thai food in the area, so that’s what brought me here. Visually, it’s for sure the nicest place of the bunch. I’ve ordered pad thai here twice(I find it’s the easiest dish to compare among places), and both times were good/average. I found it to be more on the bland side, but satisfactory nonetheless. Also, it ended up costing around $ 8(regardless of which meat option you choose) which is cheap compared to other places I’ve been to where pad thai is around $ 10-$ 15. Service is friendly. I might go back to try some curries or other items on the menu, but my favorite Thai restaurant out of the ones I’ve tried so far is the one labeled«Pad Thai,» which happens to be across the street from another restaurant called Thai Taste on Chapel Street.

The place has made a full 360 turn in service and food. The service has gotten faster and it shows they care about the customers unless like last time our server was more worried about being on the phone more than serving us. It also looks like they got a new chef or the old chef improved because food tasted really good it had flavors which was lacking last time and also my pad Thai was just all sugar this time.

One of the nicer, fancier Thai restaurants in this great New Haven area for food. Then again, there isn’t anything that special about Bangkok Gardens with the plethora of choices that surround it. The service is great for larger student groups and the prices are reasonable. I’m not sure they deserve a full 4 stars, but definitely not a 3 star. It may not be one of the places I’ll revisit whenever I head back to New Haven, but as a student I know I would love to go whenever I could. With that in mind, need a quiet nice lunch or dinner? Come here for a solid experience.

7 $ for a complete, delicious lunch! Very good service and pleasant atmosphere! I was there for lunch on a Sunday and really want to come back! The location is just a few steps from the Green and Yale, the service is quick and very polite, the food absolutely gorgeous!

I’d give Bangkok Gardens a 4.5 star if I could. It deff deserves much more than its current rating. While at Yale for a week long training, I came here for lunch twice. I could totally see myself becoming a regular if I lived in New Haven. First of all, I really like the ambience. The brick walls, bright colors and glass ceilings in the sunroom instantly lighten my mood and lift my spirit. Sitting next to the window and looking at people walking by during lunch hour is so relaxing and peaceful. Secondly, the price is very reasonable. They even have lunch specials on weekends and I couldn’t believe duck is among the choices of meat for their lunch specials. That’s unheard of in the place i currently live in. Thirdly, food is delicious. I’ve had Thai basil and ginger. Both were great! I especially loved the ginger with duck, yum! The Thai tea bubble tea was also very well made, a must order for me. Overall, I think Bangkok Gardens is totally a solid lunch spot on Yale campus. Not to mention it’s just around the corner of the Yale art gallery — one of my favorite places to visit. I really wish we had something like this in the city I currently live in. Even if we did, it would probably not be the same without the New England charm.

I’ve been to Bangkok Gardens quite frequently with large(15 – 18 people) parties and they’ve always done a superb job about getting everyone’s food and drink orders out quickly and correctly. Add to that the fact that they offer well-made Thai cuisine, are reasonably priced, and have a beautiful glass-enclosed main dining room, and it easily becomes one of the best options in New Haven for bigger groups. Their lunch specials(salad, rice, and entrée for around $ 10) are also a great deal, and the service is speedy enough that you can stop in over a lunch break and never worry that your food won’t be out in time.
