We’ve ate here once before. The food is pretty good, considering the continental theme they’re going for. They do have nice Italian dishes and appetizers that have really nice flavor. Pretty good wine list. The décor is a bit gaudy(very Little Italy). It works for them I guess . Ok so we went recently on a Sunday, walked in at 8:57 pm and the hostess told me they were closed. They had plenty of people at the bar and quite a few tables still about to have dinner(I could see through the glass divider people were awaiting dinner items and servers still carrying food out to tables). I really don’t know of any, any restaurant that can afford to turn away a customer. Clearly they weren’t ready to lock up. They could have still accommodated us for a few apps and drinks. I get it they want to get home ASAP but that’s just bad for business. We went down the road and left our $ 150 there worth of appetizers and drinks.

Went to Michael’s with my girlfriend while in town on business. Although I’d like to see the baby blue sign in the front torn down and burned, the food, service, and ambience inside the restaurant was unbelievable. We had a great meal and never found ourselves looking for the waiter. Definitely recommend! By the way, half off on bottles of wine on Tuesday!!! We turned up! Enjoy folks!

Yet another fantastic meal at Michaels on Main. I have yet to be disappointed with anything at this place. I now only look at the menu for appetizers because I get the veal chop every time. I dream about this veal chop. Today I had the pork belly appetizer special and holy cow! I wanted 4 more orders.

Great food. The sunset dinner is really amazing for the price. The selection and quality is fantastic. Also have been after«sunset» and it is great. What else to be said. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Celebrated my husband’s birthday. Came to this establishment because of the reviews. We began with a cocktail each and ordered our entrees. Cocktails were delish! I had the crème Brule and he had a chocolate raspberry. For entrees we both ordered the veal piccata and the meal was accompanied by a house salad, homemade mashed potatoes and veggies. Delicious. We had the canoli dip for dessert. Our server Miguel was attentive and knowledgeable about items on the menu. Very relaxing and although the place was filling up quickly we did not feel rushed. Definitely will go back. Highly recommended it.

Walked in to grab a quick bite at the bar and although seats were half empty, was told that they were somehow reserved for others ! Discussed the matter with a supposed owner, Tommy, who was inept and clueless to say the least and offering no real explanation. Horrible experience and utterly disgraceful on how they conduct their business. Will be sure to tell all to steer clear of this mediocre at best«place of business…»

Excellent food and service! We have eaten there atlas 10 times. The bartenders are great and they also have a sunset menu Monday-Thursday. Complimentary crostini and salad included with meals.

We celebrated my mom’s 70th birthday here. Loved the atmosphere — low-key and relaxing. The staff was very nice and didn’t rush us(there were 10 of us). The food was great and everyone was full by the time we were done with our main courses. The only 2 things that bothered me just a bit was the fact that the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail appetizers only came with 3 shrimp each! Definitely not worth it for the amount it cost. Also, when we asked for more bread, they only gave us ONE basket at a time… that’s certainly not going to be enough for a table of 10. They should’ve given us 2 baskets of bread when we asked for more. Still, that wouldn’t keep me from coming back(I’ll just know better for next time). We ordered a few desserts and my mom got the cheesecake. The staff brought it out with a candle and sang«Happy Birthday» really nicely — the whole restaurant actually joined in and clapped afterwards. We ordered their cannoli dip which did not disappoint as it seems to be their signature dessert. The cannoli chips were fresh and crispy and the«dip» was fresh and creamy. However, their bread pudding was AMAZING!!! I’m sure it depends on personal taste, but the bread pudding was warm, flavorful and felt like a hug! ;-) All in all, if you’re looking for a place to «turn-up», this is not it. This is an establishment that’s perfect for having great food in a relaxing atmosphere where you can actually have a conversation at the table. Would definitely return.

Small place, tables very close together, dinner was nothing spectacular. Parking can be an issue. Ordered the steak, felt like I was eating shoe leather, but then again that can happen anywhere!

Rockland is Saturated with Chain Restaurants. Most Non Chain Restaurants are Mediocre at Best. Michael’s Hits it Out of the Park Both with Food & Service. You Cant go wrong with the menu regulars. I find the Specials Always Enticing and Delicious. You Will See the Same Servers Every time You go Which is Always a Great Sign. I’m not big on décor though I can see why some do not like it. Bottom Line: Great Food Great Price. So if You are Going Out to Eat Soon, Make This Place Your Next Stop!

I just read all the Unilocal reviews for Michael’s on Main and what’s clear is most people love Michael’s but a few people have had bad experiences they felt a need to write about. Yes, it’s true, the guests at Michael’s are mostly over 40. If that bothers you, Michael’s isn’t for you. It’s not a 20 something hangout. There are very few mediocre reviews of Michael’s and the main reason is Michael’s on Main isn’t a mediocre restaurant. The first few times my wife and I tried to get into Michael’s on a weekend it was packed. We didn’t have reservations and there were no seats at the bar. We were determined to get in though. We came back on a weeknight. Success. In the last 2 months, we’ve been back to Michael’s at least a dozen times. I guess we like it, right? Here’s why we like Michael’s. The food is outstanding; the portions are large; the lighting levels aren’t high; the staff is wonderful(we usually sit at the bar); Michael, the owner, is always in the dining room or bar and has a warm, inviting presence; the cost is reasonable; the décor is pleasant; the chairs are comfortable; the restaurant is clean; the bar selections are interesting; the specials are amazing; and the other guests seem like nice people. Ps Denise, the weekend bartender is so nice. We love her. Michael takes good care of us and, as we work our way through the entire menu, night by night, we haven’t found anything that disappoints. Everything, and I truly mean everything, has been delicious. The other night, my mouth started watering when I read the specials menu. 21 day aged Bone in Rib Eye Steak for $ 26.00.(includes salad) I was all set to order the steak… until I saw a server carrying out the most delicious looking Pork Osso Buco over Risotto. It was a verbal special. I ordered the Pork and wasn’t disappointed. Picture attached. We strongly recommend Michael’s on Main.

This review is based on the poor customer service given by both the waitstaff as well as the owner. Last Friday, my boyfriend and I decided to celebrate our anniversary at Michael’s on Main. We were greeted by the owner and it seemed to be a great night in the making. We’re both 23 and were the youngest diners in there at 6:30 pm on a Friday. I ordered a glass of wine when we were first seated and was not asked to show ID. So now our waitress has assumed I am of age to drink, which should also mean I deserve the same service given to older diners that night. We started off with the crab cakes, delicious. Our waitress lacked the sparkle that she showed to the other tables she waited on. For entrees I ordered a salmon dish with mussels and clams, my boyfriend ordered the shrimp imperial. Both meals were wonderful until I found bones in my salmon. I notified the waitress and with NO apology given she told me she’d let the chef know after blankly staring at me. No apology, and the owner did not bother to come over. What bothers me the most was that the table next to us ordered the same salmon dish as me, which they also had an issue with. They also had the same waitress, when they told her about their problem with the meal, the owner came over and apologized. My boyfriend and I ordered dessert, the cannoli dip which was divine. When the waitress brought our dessert over, there was still NO apology. When she took the dessert away, NO apology, when we were given the bill NO apology still regarding my salmon. On the bill we were charged for each item which slightly bothered me, but the principle of it all is the lack of apology. After paying our bill I asked the hostess to speak to the owner, he then came over asked how or meal was. I told him about my salmon and how I told the waitress and never received an apology. He said«well it’s fish sometimes we can’t get all the bones out, but that’s unusual with salmon. I’ll write you a gift certificate.» STILLNOAPOLOGY and now I’m expected to come in again? The gift certificate came off as shut up and get out of here. The food served here is far better than the waitstaff. As a paying customer my boyfriend and I felt that we did not receive the same service that other diners were given due to our age. What a shame.

Came here for dinner and drinks. Food was average for a restaurant that claims to be higher end but they clearly cater to an older crowd. My order of filet mignon tips had to be sent back twice, once overcooked and once not cooked, with a half-hearted apology from the waitress. On observation, she profusely apologized to the elderly couple for simply being out of tartufo — they didn’t even do anything wrong! While this couple got here at the same time, they were served their entire meal before we even received salads! Furthermore, an unfinished half beer was taken without asking by some hapless bus girl. To sum it all up: A place for octogenarians with deep pockets who like service with a bullshit smile. Don’t come if you’re under eighty.

Last night I finally got to experience the restaurant everyone is talking about! There is a reason why everyone is raving! The experience was nothing short of amazing! We started with some drinks and appetizers. The clams oreganato was delicious and the tuna tar tar was fresh and beautifully presented. The Caesar salad was one if the most delicious we have eaten. The intermezzo ice between courses was such a classy touch. Everyone at the table loved their food! Tilapia francese, bourbon ribeye, wedge salad, and my absolute favorite… the Chilean Seabass Oreganato. Finally, the service was impeccable. The owner came to our table several times to check on us. Our waitress, Loreinnie, was delightful, knowledgeable, extremely attentive, and accommodating. Silverware was changed out between courses and every aspect had extreme attention to detail. Kudos to Michael’s on Main. We will definitely be back!
