Market Place Cinema 12

$ 4 matinée, free popcorn, nice theater, good sound, free mints at the exit, what’s not to like?

My wife and l loved going to this theatre a year ago, but now it is AWFUL! Apparently they have new management. I believed that they are called City Base Cinema. I can’t wait till the Alamo Drafthouse comes in and takes this place over. We used to love this place back in the day because the price for the movie tickets were so affordable and the service was great. Now, tickets are still affordable, but after walking in, I feel as if I’m at the airport getting checked out by TSA! They have a staff member immediately after the ticket booth who always probes through my wife’s purse. She HATES it when people go through her purse, Im sure other ladies feel the same. I wonder if he would check me out if I was wearing a coat? Next thing you know I’ll be getting padded down to see if I have a snickers bar in my back pocket. After the inspection, we proceed to the concessions. The supposed «free» popcorn with every ticket purchase tastes awful, no butter, no salt, NOTHING, the bag is usually half to 2/​3s full and they are always out. Last time we had to wait 20 minutes for bag of terrible tasting popcorn. I guess they can afford to give away free popcorn when they sell you a hot bottle of water for $ 5 and a small bag of chips for $ 4.25. How about some clean restrooms? From now on, we will be going to creekside. A little more expensive tickets but no inspection and great tasting popcorn, snacks, and ice cream, not to mention the AWESOME $ 1 hotdogs!

Great for matinée movies with the kids!!:)… So sad it’s closed!

This theater is great if you enjoy paying money for an out of focus movie powered by Delby (intentional) Sound. It’s especially good if you don’t like seeing the movie at all, but would rather listen to others cell phone conversations, crying babies and toddlers in a horror flick, or just casual conversations of wannabe gangstas. Don’t bother complaining to the manager either, because unless you plan on taking away the Teen Beat magazine she’s reading, you wont get any attention.
Make the drive to Alamo Drafthouse in San Antonio. Best movie experience out there and they bring a wide variety of beer to your seat. They also do not tolerate rude behavior in the theater.

Cinema 12 is the only movie theater in New Braunfels. I try to avoid it as much as possible because the place is being ran by 17 year olds! No really, it is! New Braunfels is such a small town that this is one of the «hang out» spots for teenagers. By hang out I mean this is a drop off location for parents wanting to get rid of their little ones for a couple of hours! Avoid going during weekends or for opening night to ANY family, teenage movie! You won’t find a seat, parking or even tickets. This is a great place to catch a matinée, before 5 pm and for a lower price at $ 5! The perks of this is you will also avoid the crowds :)
