I had to get a zipper replaced on my fairly expensive Harley Davidson motorcycle jacket and Ludwig’s was definitely up to the task. Their expertise is apparent and the workmanship was top notch.

Very helpful and friendly staff. I commissioned a small, simple piece, and was told that they’d have a final price estimate for me within a day, but that it may take up to a week to finish due to the holiday rush and office closure in observance of Christmas. Not 24 hours later I had a call from Zach letting me know that not only did he have an estimate for me, but he’d finished the piece as well. It turned out just as I’d hoped, and for a very fair price. I’ll happily be back to have more work done soon!

My wife commissioned a wallet for my birthday. After talking to the guy that does the tooling, she paid upfront in full. She was assured by the manager and new owner that day that the 2 weeks until my birthday were ample time to complete the project. She called the day before b-​day and they told her it hadn’t been started yet and would need a week to finish up. She was not happy but thought it was worth it for custom work. That week went by and then most of another. They finally called Thursday of the 4^th week and said she could pick it up on Friday anytime. She sent me to pick it up and not knowing what it was I didn’t look at it till I got home. I have seen better quality work done at Busseys Flea Market. It was far from the custom wallet she was told we were getting when she ordered it. It was really a $ 20 blank wallet that was unstitched, tooled and restitched back together. When my wife called to complain on this poor product, she was told by the owner thats what she ordered and there were NO REFUNDS for commissioned pieces. There was no convincing her of a discount or refund of any kind or even an apology for the work being 2 weeks late. DONT EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!!! Negative stars if I could.

Walking into Ludwig’s is like stepping in the dressing room of Gunsmoke/​Bonanza, and would make any cowgirl/​cowboy giddy as ever!
Ludwig’s offers many expertly crafted leather pieces from belts to old fashioned gun holsters. I cannot wait to bring my Dad in here, he will go nuts! I would definitely come here for a memorable Father’s Day gift! They have a nice factory that you can look in on with many sewing machines and old school tools, can you imagine how hard they must work to make such detailed pieces… sheesh!
Customer service is exceptional, we were shown many beautiful handcrafted wallets and purses. The aroma is intoxicating too, currently they’re in the running for the best smelling store in New Braunfels (vote away!).
Please pop into Ludwig’s Leather if you’re downtown or visiting for an amazing visual experience, New Braunfel’s is super lucky to have such a place to share! Leather crafting is a dying art but Ludwig’s is keeping it nice and fresh!

I purchase a purse and asked if they could adjust it to a longer strap. No problem –they customized it for my needs, no extra charge. The closure on the purse broke. No problem– I returned it and it was fiixed and even better that before with an new decorative clasp. This place has a hometown feel and people that care to make it right.

If the smell of genuine leather, and a shop full of hand made surprises from hand painted hand made ladies belts to custom tablet covers around every corner and display case gets you excited, or you need a shop for gift ideas, then you havent lived until you stop in for what I would call «Good olé’ fashion service with hill country charm. This place is worth the stop! They have a huge inventory of hand made leather items you would never find in a local western wear. For gun owners, I must say… you have now found the shop who will build anything you can come up with as well as many many choses in stock. OH! pocket knife lovers will be extremly pleased as well. Not many retail shops of any type where the owner if not busy with customers, gladly introduces himself and genuinly welcomes your thoughts. Outstanding customer service by entire staff. This will quickly become one of your must stops when in the New Braunfels for you and your entire family.
