A group of 6 of us stopped here for breakfast, mostly because other places were packed and you really can’t screw up Mexican food(too badly). The parking lot was overflowing. It’s open seating, so basically a large group just has to wait and hope something opens up. I did try to recruit the help of a staff member, who didn’t seem terribly interested. We luckily were able to sit within 10 minutes, waited several minutes for a waitress to come, and once she did, she was nice and we placed our orders. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time. I ordered coffee and the migas a la Mexicana, which comes with refried beans. We also ordered a short stack of pancakes for the table. Either my coffee cup was dirty, or the coffee just had a bizarre taste to it, I don’t know. It was weak coffee, which is fairly typical for this type of establishment – no surprise there. The migas were okay, and featured some type of liquid cheese(as opposed to shredded cheese). It was pretty interesting. The corn tortillas came in perfectly round shapes and were not fried like normal(usually migas are made with fresh corn tortillas that are cut into strips and then fried). Didn’t really care for them, mostly because it seemed like the cook threw some corn tortillas chips into eggs and called it migas. The refried beans were very good. They tasted like charro beans that had been refried. YUM. The tortillas were so thick they were really not edible. The thickness ruined tacos. My husband did not care for the breakfast tacos he ordered at all. The potatoes were a good size, but GEEZ, put some salt or S O M E T H I N G on them. So so bland. A waste. The pancakes were very cakey and super thick. Couldn’t eat much of them. Prices seemed pretty normal. We probably wouldn’t go back. Strange how popular this place seems to be.

Excellent service and people. The breakfast food just isn’t good. The tortillas are too thick and the potatoes have zero flavor. The chorizo with egg had way more egg than chorizo. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars is because of the bomb salsa. The chips are definitely not made in house.

The food is only decent and the customer service, well to put it nicely it’s an experience in itself to say the least. I politely asked two different people to please notify the kitchen upon making and packaging my tacos, that it’s extremely important to label each taco so that I wouldn’t have to unroll the cheap easy to rip tidy foil wrapper it comes in, BUTOFCOURSEITWASNTDONE. I’ve gotta say that upon identifying each of these over the top greasy, distastefully made thick tortillas tacos that identifying the tacos from the get go would have helped me bc THEMUSHINTHETACOSWEREUNIDENTIFIABLESODEF A LOSELOSESITUATION! The customer service on the phone, or lack thereof bc while u can’t see the person u can hear in their voices the disdain and officiousness they had. The lady at the window, while apologetic for taking the order incorrectly l, looked as though she would have much rather have been at a club given her skimpy tacky unprofessional attire… The bf tacos i ordered weren’t for me so swallowing a wasted transaction of $ 21 .65 was even harder to absorb bc the office I was doing a favor for by buying their bf wasn’t going to be getting great food. There aren’t many other choices in town so honestly if u want good bf tacos, invest in the necessary ingredients to make the food urself!

The only reason I gave these rude people one star is because it doesn’t let you do zero. Every member of the staff is rude and short, and the owner is even worse. They ignore you and they don’t care about anyone but themselves. The only good thing about going here is that you don’t have to tip because they don’t tip anywhere that they go. Everyone at Los Gallos is rude and entitled and I will not be returning. I will go to el Nopalito up the road. There they are kind and always make conversation when you go get tacos to go in the morning.

Great authentic food! The enchiladas were my favorite. Local or a tourist, defiantly try this place out!

I don’t usually get authentic Tex-Mex breakfast where I’m from, so when I find it, I’m all in. While in New Braunfels for business, I couldn’t help but go here for real deal breakfast tacos. Two was all I could handle with out going into a food coma, not what I want for breakfast. The migas were real deal and the best taco I had. Seriously, three days in a row and I’d still go back for a fourth.

I judge a Mexican food place by three things. Tortillas, salsa, and service. The tortillas are so thick I thought I was eating in Greek restaurant. Pita bread is what I would call that. Delicious pita bread. They should try making gyros. The salsa is good, so are the chips. I was happy not to have to ask for chips and salsa in the morning. The service sucks. They are very busy, but so is Monterrey and they always make sure our coffee cups are full. We had to wave them down for it. Barely saw our waitress the whole time. If you got good service, think about why. Food is good, but their tag line should NOT be «best tacos in town.“It should warn you… Like«Los gallos… Where you only need one!» One cup of coffee no refills, one visit from the waitress, and definitely only one pita bread chorizo egg and cheese taco. Wait I take that back, they forgot the cheese. But I couldn’t tell them because they never stopped back til they gave us the check.

Nothing special. Yes the tacos are big and VERY filling, but the tortilla is too thick and the food was bland.

Not bad. They don’t make their own corn tortillas like other Mexican places do which is disappointing. Unfortunately due to the ridiculously oversized flour tortilla, your eating extra flour that could be going towards another taco. The barbacoa was good, huevos rancheros needed more salsa, there was barley any chicharron or chorizo on the other tacos we ordered but everything tasted good. Too much egg not enough meat but fine tasting breakfast tacos.

Walking in, they have a sign that says to wait to be seated. As you stand there for 10 mins, someone walks over and asks you to choose a seat by mumbling a couple table numbers and you stand there confused. Hot sauce was okay. Nothing kept in the plastic condiment containers scream fresh and homemade. Chips come in a microbowl with chips overflowing. We didn’t get utensils until after our order was on the table. Food wasn’t very good Due to other reviews, maybe just caught this place on a bad day?

Great food. Great service. Authentic. Ranchero sauce on eggs was perfect. #14 combo plate 1 was fantastic. We will always stop here. Tacos are huge.

No Frills café with Big Thrills on food and service. very pleasant family restaurant. For $ 20 including taxes, we had four tacos, two beers, chips and salsa and a large soda. table service was excellent, very friendly. tacos are HUGE so we unfortunately were unable to eat but 2⁄3 of each one. Will happily return.

This place used to be the best place to get breakfast tacos in all of new Braunfels now they’ve got some major customer service issues as well as increased prices they have decreased quality. They now nickel and dime you for everything if you get a meal that comes with a taco but you’d like a fajita taco instead they charge you the full price of a fajita taco and call it «up charge» what’s more is they added this extra charge to my meal and never gave me a taco at all fajita or not.

You must get the ginormous breakfast tacos! My family loves them. They don’t skimp out on ingredients. My favorite is potato and egg. I know it’s plain but it is always so perfect. Their tortillas are huge and soft. They get you in and out as fast as they can and the people are pretty swell.

Disappointed as I was hoping to find something good from all the comments. Drive up was packed with vehicles picking up orders. Got hopeful seeing all the customers. Got inside, was quaint and clean. Waitresses were very nice and pleasant. We ordered, I got 6 tacos as I was very hungry. They are big tacos as the tortillas are larger than other restaurants, and they were fresh made. That’s as good as it got. Unfortunately they don’t fill the tortillas up. Cut off the extra tortilla left overs and had a full plate of tortillas but nothing to put in it. Chorizo and eggs were very runny, no chorizo to be found in the tacos. I ordered tripas(as I am old school and wise about tacos) as it was a nice surprise to see them on the menu. They tasted as if they had just been washed off with soap? And there was no spices on them. No flavor. The other tacos were barbacoa, they were good and hot but not much flavor either. No onions or cilantro came with them or were offered.(For those who know, it’s like ketchup for your fries, a staple) My order came out a full 15 – 20 minutes before my wife’s and kids order. And the patties on the breakfast plate were burned. How do I know? Because the waitress said so, took it away and replaced it… with one that looked exactly the same. Go here to get the tortillas, they are fresh, but not sure what else to try? Maybe a plate next time instead of tacos. The locals seem to love it, maybe growing up with it, you get used to having it and crave it? Have had much better in SA and Austin. The people here, were very nice tho!

After having a HORRIBLY messed up order and the worst customer service, at a different taco place *ahem down the street,* my boyfriend and I got a refund, and drove the short 30 seconds to Los Gallos. We had a huge order to-go for 7 people, with each person getting 2 – 3 tacos each.(At this point, we had no idea how big the tacos were). The lady at the register was very patient and friendly with us while we went through our order and even repeated the order 2 times to make sure everything was correct! The wait for our tacos to-go wasn’t very long. Probably about 7 – 10 minuutes. When we got home and unwrapped the tacos, everyone was surprised by how big they were, expecting street-style sized tacos. You really get your money’s worth here for the amount of filling and the size of the taco. But be warned, it’s hard to devour more than 1 taco, even if you’re hungry!(I don’t know how I managed to eat 3 tacos.) The only negative thing I have to say about this place is that the barbacoa has little chunks of fat in it. Other than that, everything else was really good and we even ended up coming back the next day for more tacos lol. I will definitely be back here because of the pleasant customer service and the great food!

I’ve been in town for about three weeks now and have been here a total of 6 times! All for breakfast so I can’t speak about any other meals besides breakfast. First off, these tacos are not street size tacos with the small tortillas. They are pretty much like small burritos made with some FRESH out the over tortillas. I’ve sampled almost all the breakfast tacos they offer and my favorites are the chorizo and the barbacoa. The salsa could use some revamping, not spicy whatsoever! Each taco is very affordable about 1.50! I have a huge appetite and two usually do the job.

Went in to order breakfast tacos and received the best service imaginable. The girl who took our order had a smile on her face the entire time. The restaurant looks small from the outside but is rather spacious inside. We ordered breakfast tacos and they precisely matched their price because of how big they are, almost a super taco. Everything was great but all of our tortillas kept on breaking and not from sogginess. They have a nice drive-thru, we’ll be back to try other dishes.
