More like 10 stars. Best bartender of all time, Sage, recommended some tasty beers from their decent selection of taps. Food is good too. Fried cheese and wings and whatnot.

Chumleys is a better drinking bar than a bar & grill. I went in on a Saturday around noon. Everyone looked kind of disheveled. Service was fair, I mean it’s not like they were nice, but I was not completely ignored. This is what urked me a little though… I have eaten here before. A few times. I have had Burgers and Wings. Both of those were good. I will even say that the burger was memorably excellent, so I was very surprised with my last meal. I ordered two sandwiches because I had a coupon book coupon for a «buy one-get one» entrée. I ordered a BLT and a Ham & Swiss on rye. What made it so lousy, was the ingredients. I could not have made it any cheaper if I tried. Cheap, crummy bread, iceberg lettuce, and cheap Swiss cheese. I got a salad and pub chips for a side. Salad was iceberg lettuce about a half of a tomatoe and a handful of shredded cheddar cheese. Assembly time= 5 seconds. Cost to make= I am guessing 40 cents. The pub chips were not salted either. Not having salt on your chips, is like sleeping naked without a lady. And she only took off $ 6.00 when it should have been $ 6.99. So the point of my review is, it is a good drinking bar. The crowd plays heavier music, which is usually above par. If you get food, stick with hamburgers or wings. They have those down-pat. The sandwiches and salads were really disappointing. Also avoid the cross cut buffalo fries like you would avoid a scorpion. I love Franks red-hot, and usually like cross– cut fries, but the buffalo fries gave both me and my special lady, bellyaches.

Descriptive phrase: hidden neighborhood bar. Chumley’s Pub has been in the strip mall off National and Moorland in New Berlin forever. A coworker and I stopped in at lunch time to watch the Badgers basketball game a few weeks back. It was packed around the bar when we arrived, though they also have a seating area up front. We got the last two seats and ordered right away. Their kitchen is really just a grill and fryer behind the bar, and they were not prepared for the crowd. Waits got up to over 45 minutes for a burger. I ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich with tater tots($ 9.99). All CCB sandwiches forever have come with Swiss cheese, but for some reason Chumley’s adds an additional $ 0.50 to your bill automatically if your order it here. Why not just include that in the price of the sandwich, since it says it comes with Swiss already? Those things annoy me. Anyway, the sandwich(also with lettuce and tomato) was passable and the tots were good. It’s a really nice atmosphere and everyone was friendly, if service was pretty slow. I’d be back for a quick work lunch, but not for a nice meal.

This place came under new ownership in June, and it’s much better than it was before. All of the useless bartenders were cleared out, and the service has improved greatly because of it. The food quality has also gone up, which was a pleasant surprise. There is pride of ownership now, and it shows. The owner is on premises a lot of the time, and engages well with the customers, making sure everything is up to satisfaction. If you slammed this place before, it’s worth trying out again. It’s a much better place to get a drink with speedy service than other local places such as the Ale House or Cleveland Pub. I also like the daily specials they have too, and they are the only place in town that has a deal for checking in on FourSquare, and I always like a good deal. I’ll have to go up more regularly from now on, as there have been many positive changes, with a few more coming down the pipeline as well(so I’m told). Oh yeah, get the mozzarella sticks. They are wrapped in wonton shells and huge as hell!

We were there yesterday, 8÷11÷13 on a Sunday about 6 pm. My son is in the process of buying Groupon deals to try new places and they invited us. First of all its in New Berlin. This is a very nice town, new suburb, very nice and lots of shops and stores close by. Chumley’s is a small pub, food and bar. Its in a plaza and its not very big but cozy. When you walk in closer to the door there are like maybe 6 tables. You go further in and there is a small bar and some more tables along the wall. The music was good. I think it was maybe top 40s, not all country for sure, and I dont recall any rap. I am in my 40s and liked it. The décor is old but not dirty, which is the only reason I did not give it 5 stars but it was just fine, like an old local bar/pub. The food was excellent. We all got something different. I had grilled 5 cheese, my son had some type of grilled chicken and so did his GF and my husband had a double burger of some kind. It is a small menu. I recall fish, taco salad, burgers, sandwiches, onion rings etc and they have criss cross waffle fries. Everything was so fresh and so good. The gentleman was nice. There was an electronic dart board near the dining side so we played that while we waited. It was fun. We will be going back soon. The prices are good too, but the food was so good, fresh soft buns, fresh food, and just a good local grill/;pub. There were some guys at the bar, not rowdy, seemed like locals. Good atmosphere. Not sure what else was on the bar side as we did not go over there. My son did have an alcoholic drink from the bar and said it was good and cheap. So definitely recommend it.

Used to be OK. Went in today for my regular food item. Nacho burger. Not good. The nachos were stale and the chili was just runny red sauce with beans. Mentioned this to the cook/waiter and he could care less. Done with this place.

Flew in from DC yesterday and have already come back for a second visit. And we’ll be back tonight after the concert! Great service, great food, great beer selection and great prices. If you wrote a prior review and weren’t impressed I implore you to try it again. 20 hours from home and they make you feel like a regular.

We were in the area applying for an apartment and decided to stop in and try a future local joint. We were disappointed. We walked in and had to ask if we just sit wherever. The server that answered as pretty rude and looked annoyed to have to answer me. We were in a bit of a rush, so we were not very happy how slow the service was. No one came to see us for at least 5 minutes, which seemed like forever. There looked to only be one server and one cook/bartender on staff. The food took a long time to come out, and did not turn out to be very good. The waffle fries were tasty tho. The burger was greasy, small and of fast food quality, without the perk of it being fast. I might go back there for drinks some day, but probably not for food again.

Skip this place. We went on a Saturday night for their trivia game. Very poor service and the few appetizers we ordered were barely edible. The jalapeño poppers were still frozen in the center. The nachos were the worst I’ve had with a crappy sweet chili sauce over them. It took at least 40 minutes to get the nachos, and only after we flagged down a waitress to ask where our food was. She claimed there was a «tornado» in the kitchen. The place wasn’t even that busy. The only plus was the drinks were generous and prices were cheap enough. Go for a couple drinks then go to Webb’s next door for your food. You’ll be better off and receive better service.

Good craft beer tap selection. Salad was good with homemade croutons. I like that they had homemade options like soup, chili and jumbalaya. Service was slow on a Friday night. Bartender is very friendly to all. Fish fry was good.

We had some scrips(gift certificates) so we decided to give this place a try. I was here years back and didn’t care for it but then again when it’s paid for, why not! Pulled up, the place was completely dead, I wasn’t even sure it was really open. Went inside, front section was closed, some old country music was blaring over the speakers(Patsy Cline, I think) There was 2 men sitting at the bar and that was it. The bartender /waitress was very friendly. The menu seemed to have a good amount of food. Ordered some burgers and a chicken sandwich, fries were $ 2 extra — seriously for some waffle fries with your sandwich. It took about 40 minutes to get our food and I am not exaggerating. We were the only 3 in there who ordered food and the 2 people at the bar. The bartender /waitress spent so much time talking with them, I think she wasn’t paying attention on cooking the food. Burgers were sub par, dry and not much flavor. Chicken breast was some pre-marinated cook from frozen looking thing that got lost in the bun since the bun was twice the size of the piece of chicken(that cost $ 8.50 mind WITHOUT fries) So after eating a lot of bun we were finished and left. Will not return, have no desire. Only plus to this experience was the bartender /waitress who was VERY friendly.

This bar is in a strip mall. Normally that is automatically a no no for me. But in this case I was dragged there for chili by an ex. So I had no choice. The place itself is not that big. It doesn’t really ever seem busy. I think I’d classify it as divey with a casual feel and clean bathrooms. They serve food. The chili is very good. The chili fries are even better. It’s pretty much standard pub food. Prices are reasonable in my opinion. Drink value depends on who’s bar tending. Sometimes really strong, sometimes really weak. Service, for being a relatively empty bar, is generally slower with the one bartender on staff usually hanging with their bread and butter regulars. Which I expect in a non-busy bar. So If you’re out in New Berlin on Moorland, do stop in and try the chili and food. Maybe you’ll get lucky and get a good cocktail too.
