Great English style brewery house with English style ales. I personally like the red ale. Just enough hops not to be overpowering.

I love this place! They’ve got great beers, the staff is very friendly and knowledgable, and they have food trucks and live entertainment weekly. They don’t have food, but you can bring your own or order delivery from on the restaurants near by. It’s a great mellow place to grab a beer and hangout with friends, or make some new ones. The patio area is dog friendly, a big plus for me and my little dog. I highly recommend buying one of their refillable growlers and getting some beer to take home.

Phenomenal… both the service and the beer. Highly recommend the scotch ale. Enjoy!!! Furthermore, a good find in a place you wouldn’t expect:) be aware it is not on a main drag, per se, but that’s part of what makes it unique !

The chocolate stout is to die for! My husband loves the Sierra Lightning. They hold great events and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable about their product. Another great place to watch football. You can also bring in food.

The beer I had and the beer my wife had were nothing special, but that might have been because the person behind the bar had less then zero personality. As a guy who was a bartender in New York, and Los Angeles, I expect a person with a personality behind a bar. Even if the are just poring a beer, there is no excuse for not being friendly, even if the person does not have much of a personality.

Our favorite for local craft beer in Nevada City. Location is great with plenty of nearby food, and can even stop by after shopping at SPD to enjoy a tasty beer

The best beer you can imagine. While they have competitors/rivals in the micro brew space they really don’t. They make small batch huge taste libations. When in Nevada county this is a must. They offer growlers and bottles to go. I had their Kotsch which is a rye beer. Great light summer beverage. I also had a Lucky Joe which was a bit darker but just as thirst quenching.

Micro brew that is actually very drinkable. Not the overly hop or trend beer a lot of places serve. It’s what I want for a beer experience. Sell some pint glasses and swag with your name on it. Us out of town people want to show off to our friends we were here!

Beautiful sign, floor and bar. Not my favorite beer selection but was still good. I actually have a friend who enjoys lagers the most and this seems to be a lager house. I still would have given a four except there was no food available at all and no food truck either. Still very much quality craft beers… just not my personal favorite flavors.

The Blak(black lager) was the perfect beer with which to start my day. Super refreshing and tasty and drinkable. The guy working the bar was probably the nicest dude I’ve ever encountered in any business in the last five years of my life. Seriously. No one’s that friendly anymore. We only had one beer, but he made our experience so much better. I don’t know when I’ll be back this way, but I’m looking forward to coming back to Ol’ Republic.

Probably some of the worst micro brew I’ve ever had the dis– pleasure of tasting and i travel all over ca, or, wa, nv and az seeking out good beer and breweries. I tried an ipa, a stout and an ale. All 3 had a horrible after taste and totally made my stomach churn for the rest of the night. Yuk! Go across the street to jernigan’ s. They have way better beer and better atmosphere, plus great food. Or go to knee deep brewery in auburn for some of the best beer on the west coast! Ol republic sucks!!!

This is the most fun place to spend an evening in town! I never miss a Friday game night with the buds with the absolutely best beer ever, each type of which has won some kind of award or other. The atmosphere is super fun and very safe; there aren’t any gross drunks around, just a bunch of hip people gathering around to have a good time and enjoy a great beer. The Brewery hosts all kinds of fun events, such as a giant Halloween party and Saint Patrick’s Day party. It’s also hella fun to go to the Brewery to watch big sports games. The Brewery is close to other restaurants and you can order out from them and bring food to the Brewery to enjoy with your beer. There’s all kinds of seating(inside, outside), games available to play(seriously! board games!) and kids can even come and get a soda.

I absolutely love Ol’ Republic and am so happy to see something like this in Nevada City(and especially that has stuck around). They have great beer at their taproom location, I’ve seen it all over town on tap and my brother even got a couple of kegs of it for his wedding. I love the taproom location, especially the patio. Dogs are welcome(although I never have mine with me when I travel up here). You can sample any of the beers that they have on tap, which changes occasionally, and you can get flights. They have stainless steel growlers in two sizes and I never forget mine when I come up(although the beer never makes it back to Reno!) They have quite the sanitation process when you get them filled, so sit down and have a beer while you wait. Also, around the holidays, they offer discounted fills on your growlers. The wait time can be over an hour during this time, so be prepared! You bring your own food or order from near by restaurants and eat in the taproom or on the patio. Plus, they have occasional taco nights, sushi nights, the Honest Pie truck, and stuff like that were the food comes to the taproom. They just announced that they are bottling their beer as well. I’ll be up there in a few weeks and am going to make sure to grab some!

This place rocks! Cool place, cool bartender, cold beer! They have stainless steel growlers in 1 and 2 liter sizes. The California Common and Hells beer hit the mark! BYOF ‘Bring Your Own Food’ is all good. Miner Moes Pizza goes well with a cold draft from this place. When in the area… check this place out!

This place is not bad. Beer: the beer is okay, and has improved since it opened. Some of the beers feel a bit thin, not sure why. And some have a bit of a strange aftertaste, common among several. But none were really bad, and a couple are reasonably good. Snacks: as others have noted, there is no food here, which is fine. They do offer free salty snacks. Sometimes they have good ones, sometimes not so good. I can’t complain too much, as they are free. Atmosphere: this is the biggest problem with the place. It is in a walk-in basement, which is not necessarily a problem. But all the hard surfaces make the room very loud. They need to put up some stuff that will cut down the echoes a bit, as it is sometimes hard to talk. Also, much of the seating, especially the benches, is not very comfortable. There is some seating outside, but they tolerate smokers and smoke can drift across the other seats, and the ones away from the smokers tend to fill up. I can ride my bike here, but there is no bike rack. This could be easily fixed. Price: slightly on the high side for what you get, especially the growlers. Please improve the quality and make it worth it. Recommendations for the owners: — You take your beer seriously and have improved since you opened, keep it up. — Please fix the interior and make it a place I want to hang. It is just too noisy and uncomfortable now, so I usually go elsewhere. — Please also have the smokers take a walk if they want to smoke. Seating outside is limited, and this is another reason why I typically will go elsewhere. — Please add bike parking, it would give me another reason to go here. — The whole Argall St. area is becoming a little destination, especially for locals. It is a great alternative to downtown, with two bars, at least three restaurants, and a movie theater. If the business owners work together, you can make this a real attraction.

Great quality brewery! I’ve only been here a few times but I always have a good time. I like all the beers and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Although they do not have a kitchen I think it’s awesome that you can bring in your own food. They often host different food nights like BBQ, Tacos, ect. Don’t bother going down the hill to the Auburn brewery, this one is SO much better!!!
