The best. I usually order an Americano or black coffee. With the level of quality of their beans, I don’t like to mess with it often. The atmosphere is homey and the staff are great!

I wish I could impart through diction just how intelligent, warm, inviting, and savvy Foxhound is, but I’m just going to fall short. Suffice it to say, they keep surprising me. The most recent example are pour-overs. I’ve been to the highest rated coffee-bars in Santa Monica, Seattle, Portland, and the city. None of them have wowed me more with their pour-over selection and quality than FH. I agree with a previous reviewer. The owner is a coffee savant, not to mention an all around lovely person. I’m drinking the most unique Guatemalan I’ve ever tasted right now. Bravo Foxhound!

The best tasting coffee in town! I must admit to not having tried all 12 coffee shops in Nevada City yet, but I’ve already found my favorite spot. Plus Mr. Max is a supremely friendly and professional barista. My usual is an Americano or an iced coffee in the summer.

No drip coffee, no 16 ounce coffee. Kinda boring inside and unfriendly. Americano was delicious!

After coming to the area recently from Portland, OR, I have been jonesing for good coffee. This is it! Small batch roasted so it’s super fresh! My only regret is that they’re not on my way to work!

Really hard to find the place since there is no obvious sign. Parking was way too difficult and a «large» black coffee was $ 3.00 for 16 oz… the largest. But it’s not the workers fault, they were friendly.

Nope. Not good. Ordered 2 cappuccinos — with whole milk — and they tasted like they were made with water. I mean, of course they were, but steamed water instead of milk. Maybe they were out of whole and used non-fat? Ew. Either way, neither was finishable. Gotta steam that milk correctly — and warn your customers if you’re unable to serve what they ordered — and paid for.

I agree with a previous reviewer, 5 stars aren’t enough! The best coffee on the area, by a long shot(hehe, pun intended). I’ve never experienced so many flavor complexities so fully in my coffee before, both in what I order there, and in the beans I take home and brew. Stephen is a master of the beans in my book. Definitely don’t miss out on this establishment, and don’t forget to take some beans home with you– but, I must warn you, it will spoil you for your grocery store coffee beans! They just won’t be enough for you after Foxhound!

If I could give a 10 star rating I would! Reasonably priced and the coffee is AMAZING! The owner is a coffee savant. Friendly staff and nice surroundings make this little gem a keeper. We drive 25 min to get this coffee. Worth every mile!

This place is fantastic. The staff is super nice, the atmosphere is great, the coffee is marvelous. If I’m not sure what I want, they can tell me exactly The place itself is beautiful, fun, comfy, and let’s take a moment to appreciate the tardis they have in it!!! I’ve never gotten food there before, but i don’t doubt that it would be just as good. The staff is super friendly, they keep things casual, and make you feel welcome(which is always nice). This place is well worth the price people!(Which isn’t too steep. Perfect for what you get!) This place is gold!

I’m a local Nevada City resident so I know all the coffee places in town. Didn’t think we needed yet another one, but this is different. If you hate the Starbucks cookie cutter motif, this place is the polar opposite. Funky tables, quirky menu, great coffee and espresso, shady deck outside, mellow atmosphere. This is the Zen place to enjoy all things coffee. Oh and I forgot to mention the collection of late 60s vinyl albums. Holding Sgt Pepper in my hands again brought a rush of nostalgia to my heart. Come here for a quiet cuppa Joe in a beautiful setting.

Great coffee. Nicely done low fat 12 oz latte. Nice that the roast their own beans, too. Will visit again when in the area.

Steffen is the master, and his staff are all friendly and knowledgeable. This is the best coffee spot in Nevada City and County for the real coffee lover. All you locals need to come over and check this out.
