Contrast is a lovely boutique that is filled to the brim with beautiful, well made jewelry. I love coming here when I am looking for gifts for my friends, and can always find a great pair of earrings or a scarf for anyone. I wish they sold watches! The only complaint I really have, is I never feel welcome when I come in to shop. A few of the employees make me feel as though I’m doing a disservice by entering the shop and looking around. I think if they improved the morale of their employees, and maybe bumped up the music a bit, this would be my favorite jewelry place in Nevada County.

LOVE this boutique. I don’t know how I’ve overlooked this shop! Here for about four years, it is not on Broad Street, but the back one that runs parallel to it.
Full of accessories, you can find earrings, necklaces, bracelets and some rings here. None of that chintzy looks-like-Claire’s-to-me stuff. We’re talking labels from France, crystal necklaces, sterling silver pieces and one-​of-​a-​kind designs.
The best part is that it is NOT pricey. I bought a silver-​plated industrial-​style necklace with sparkling crystals, it was only $ 20! Affordable fun.
Service is very helpful and makes sure you find that certain je né sais quoi when looking for a gift or for yourself.

This place truly is as good as it gets for jewelry shopping. If you like the gorgeous line, La Vie Parisienne, then you must come here, Contrast has has the largest selection of La Vie that I have ever seen. Literally cases and cases. Same is true for Firefly. Gorgeous store. Unique line of other items. The owner travels the world for us! Friendly staff, not too pushy. (I can’t stand that). And great scarves. I bought 4!

Buuuut, that said, I’d be fair regardless. This place really *is* 5-​star-​worthy. Owned by a woman who picks up a lot of their product in Paris, the shop is full of jewelry ranging from the simple to the ornate, from contemporary design to antiqued finishes, and in all kinds of material: semiprecious gemstones, silver, enamel, you name it. I came in often when I was in Nevada City in September and could have spent hours if my boyfriend had not dragged me out. I picked up an antiqued watch on a long, thin chain for my best friend (she wears it constantly) and the boy bought me a gorgeously simple bracelet consisting of a bright yellow leather cord joined to a thick, curved piece of silver.
The best thing about this place, in addition to the beautiful stuff they carry, is how almost atrociously low-​priced everything is. And, of course, the wonderful employees.

Love, love, love this little gem of a store! The owner gets a lot of jewelry from France, as well as local artists, and super-​cool pieces from Mexico. There is something for everyone — from the bling-​bling to the understated organic look and everything in-between…you can spend an hour perusing the shelves — easy! Awesome selection — and unique pieces in every price range. I bought a gorgeous Missoni-​esque looking scarf here in beautiful warm, Fall-​like colors. I am a fan!

Ah the selection and the prices are great! I could live in there.

This is the location where Grey Goose used to be (I thought Gray Goose had closed, until I saw that it just moved to Broad Street.)
Contrast is full of all sorts of jewelry, plus some amazing scarves (I resisted the urge to buy them all!)
The employees here are really friendly, but they don’t follow you around trying to push you to buy certain things.
My friend found a very unique necklace made by a local artist. This artist had found a bunch of antique molds and uses those to make her jewelry.
I bought some small earrings for $ 30, but some awesome cutout earrings for only $ 9!
This place is great for finding unique and local jewelry!
