This bike shop was absolutely amazing!!! I visited during a recent trip to fix a flat(which they did promptly) and then again that night only because I heard the monthly Bike Party ride would be leaving out of here. I wound up here a couple more times and they set me up with a fantastic bike to join another group ride to Mexico. The staff here is very knowledgeable, generous, and extremely friendly. I really enjoyed meeting and hanging out with with them, and even riding with some of the owners on the group rides. I strongly recommend everyone visit this shop, get something fixed, buy a bike, rent a bike, whatever. They are very solid people and I can’t wait to visit San Diego again to stop through!

I have owned premium bikes for decades but never had such a premium service before. My bike felt like out of the box new after Kate touched it. They put their heart and soul in to their work, keep it up.

I heard of this so-called pub from some friends working bike valet at this event I went to. I was curious and a few weeks later I went down to check it out. The location is way the fuck out there which makes it hard to get a pub crawl on. Their tap collection is, well, non-existant. For a place with a bitchin name as Hub and Spoke I was expecting a wall of trendy, happening beers. Instead it was filled with all sorts of tools and a grungy looking guy in the corner wielding a welder. With all these bike tools lying around you’d think they were a legitimate bike shop instead of a craftily disguised pub. Kate, I think that’s her name, was all covered in grease up to her elbows and despite sitting at the counter for 20 minutes refused to pour me a beer or give me a menu. When, after an exhaustive effort, she finally caved in I was poured a nauseating light yellow beer from a can with a four-inch cotton candy head. It had a minimal crisp nose, laced with a touch of apple and split pea soup. There was an absolutely disgusting musty flavor, with notes of shoe leather and plum. Possibly the worst beer I have ever had. These guys know their bikes, though. I would expect a shop that can build you a bike from scratch to have people on hand that are more intimate with these machines than a hormone enraged college thrasher. Sure, they are a ways of the regular path, but they are — in fact — right on the Bayshore Bikeway. Stop in. Say hi(don’t drink their beer, bring them some!). If there is a business bringing class to this neck of the woods, Hub and Spoke is it! If anything, stop in to look at the awesome bike collection hanging from the ceiling(insiders tip: it’s a damn sexy collection). Kate, Taylor, and Brian rock and what they bring to the local community is way different than your other local bike shops. Some other things: Do not repeatedly point to frames and ask if they ride like an S-Works. This is not the type of bike shop where you would be judged for having a nondescript haircut and/or a propensity to wear flip-flops. There will be annoying bicycle guys. There will be annoying bicycle girls. The cops have been here multiple times, but they’re cool. Do not think they’d go for the ol’ «the shop that was not reviewed appropriately on Unilocal and thus I didn’t know what I was getting into» defense. Support this place! They have my business!

Perfect in every way! This is the repair shop you want to bring your bike to! The team in the shop is welcoming and clearly loves what they are doing. Waking in you can feel the cycle culture and you just know you are in the right place. The work done was better than expected, faster than I could have hoped for and the entire experience was just fantastic. I brought in a 26 year old hand made Japanese racing bike that needed some love and care in order to make it safe for my son to ride and bring the next generation into the sport. I was told it would be done the next day, I got a call 5 hours later and all was complete. Excellent! Thanks Kate!!!

The team(Kate, Taylor, Brian) at Hub+Spoke are experts when it comes to all things bikes. But they are not only experts, they are passionate about their work and providing the best service and products. They are honest people who you can trust will take care of you and your bike. If you are looking for a bike mechanic, custom paint job or frame, or just a cool place to hang out(their place is absolutely gorgeous– it’s basically a bike art gallery) Hub + Spoke Cycleworksis the place to go! H+S helped me build the bike of my dreams! Thank you!

Dropped my bike off for a tune up Sunday morning, went for a short hike, by the time I got back to the car my bike was ready to be picked up. Very nice folks here who take care of their customers. I will be highly recommending them to everyone who needs any work done.

Hub and Spoke Cycle works did a fantastic job on my vintage Raleigh road bike. I had my the Raleigh re-chromed and from there Kate took over taking care of everything down to the details. These folks don’t simply maintain bicycles — they eat, sleep and live bikes! The trio of Brian, Kate and Taylor can do it all from design and fabrication, and paint to mechanics and upgrades. Within one hour of riding my newly restored Raleigh, a couple on their own bikes stopped me saying — «that’s a cool bike, let me look at that!» Getting this bike back — that I’ve had for over 40 years, I was glad I placed it in the capable hands of Kate and the team at Hub and Spoke Cycle works. Their knowledge, skill and passion are quite evident. I highly recommend them for anything to do with your bike.

Hell yeah, another group of guys trying to live the dream. I love that they actually learned to build frames traditional style and have a great selection of vintage frames. Great location, too, since everyone riding from Canada to Mexico goes right by that spot. I wish their sign were easier to see, maybe a rusty old beaten to hell wheel spinning on their street sign or something. Stop by and say«HI» even if you brought a patch kit. You never know when you might need a hand! Good luck you guys, I am happy to see another noncorporate shop!
