Excellent food, flawless execution, reasonably priced. The amount of perfection that goes into each bite is beyond our current human comprehension. This is a breath of fresh air for Nashville West. Skip the other same-olé same-olé’s in the area and go get you a Crunchy Garlic Chicken!

Came across this place after typing«soup» into the search bar on Unilocal. It was a freezing and dreary day in Nashville and my boyfriend and I both agreed that was the only food option given the conditions. Thankfully, Tom+Chee offered exactly the warm and comforting food options we were hoping for. They specialize in grilled cheese and tomato soups. While many of their options seemed a bit heavy and over the top(macaroni and cheese grilled cheese, BBQ potato chip grilled cheese), they have more modest selections as well. I got the turkey pesto grilled cheese and asked for wheat bread instead of white. I also had a cup of creamy tomato basil soup. The soup was hearty and comforting with a rich tomato flavor. The sandwich was a unique take on grilled cheese but, as others have said, the bread was literally dripping with grease making it tough to finish the whole thing. We passed on their signature dessert, the grilled cheese donut, for fear of instant heart attacks… but were intrigued nonetheless. The employees were all super friendly(more than you would expect at a fast food type establishment) and stopped by our table multiple times to check on us. They all wore gloves when serving and preparing food which I really appreciated. I was pleasantly surprised by this place: quick service, unique concept, maybe a little heavier/greasier than I would’ve wanted, but perfect for a cold day.

Ate here once, the food is good, not amazing, but good. Prices are little on the expensive side, but you have SEVERAL options of what kind of grilled cheese you would like. And I mean SEVERAL options! I would probably eat here again, but a place that would be my «go to» eatery.

Hubby and I visited for lunch on a Saturday. We really enjoyed the food and the great customer service we received. Place was busy but not crowded and we found a seat right away. When we arrived at our table it hadn’t been cleaned yet from the previous diners but we didn’t even care once we began eating. Hubby got the bacon and cheese grilled cheese sandwich and it was good. I ordered«The Jeff» which is one of the grilled cheese donuts and it was AMAZING!!! Go check out Tom+Chee!!!

Fast concept Ehhh alright sandwiches I was so excited to try this place. It’s tucked away right before entering Nashville west shopping center . It’s a brightly colored atmosphere. I was running errands so I decided to get my order to go. Upon walking in there’s a huge menu on the wall. The cashier gave me great recommendations since it was my first time trying it out. I decided to go with a half west philly & chicken & garlic with extra crunch. It didn’t take long for my order to come out . I tried the west philly first. The sandwich was full of toppings but the grilled cheeses lacked flavor. The chicken & steak weren’t seasoned at all. The bread was very greasy. Its was great to say I finally tried Tom + Chee out but I’ll probably pass on going again. It was reasonably priced & good for a quick lunch. It was something I could have def made at home with more flavor.

We were hungry for a quick something in between bouts of shopping, and in a rush. This was right close, so although I thought it was a most stupid theme for a menu, we tried it. We ordered one bowl of chunky tomato –basil, and one bowl of creamy tomato_-basil. When delivered, both were exactly the same. Screwed up order? Or what? Although there was a chance at pleasantness, the soup was highly acidic, not very chunky, or creamy. Service is pleasant, but the space is cold, hard surfaced and LOUD!!! Somethings like the special donuts at $ 5.00 were strange. Did not order or see the grilled cheese. Might go back for the soup only after a talk with the«chef»

Very tasty. The grilled cheese was done just right and the soup was amazing. I had the gluten free bread and it was some of the best GF I’ve had. He one complaint I have is the sandwich did have a bit more butter on it than I would prefer. I know grilled cheese aren’t supposed to be healthy but I needed a wet nap. Other than that a delicious choice in West Nashville.

Recently moved into the neighborhood and have been driving past this place on the way to work everyday! It’s in a pretty convenient location with plenty of parking and ample seating inside. The café area itself is decent sized and is very open, which makes the crowded space feel bigger. The staff is very courteous and dealt with my problems kindly and immediately. I had ordered online, which I assume is a new thing, and the online ordering template is just broken. The menu items don’t match up with what is placed inside of your cart and mobile ordering just doesn’t even work at all. That’s the only reason this place is getting 4 stars instead of 5. If my next online ordering experience is better, I will certainly upgrade it to 5 stars. The manager was very kind and remade my sandwich and let me keep the mistake sandwich since he was previously aware of the mistakes online ordering has caused. He was very genuine and kind with a great smile. Excellent customer service skills! We ordered a BBQ + Bacon Double on white(bacon, cheese, BBQ chips and added hot sweet mustard) and a custom chee with roasted chicken, pepper jack, cheddar, and honey mustard and made it a double. We were overall extremely pleased with the food. The bread is perfectly grilled and these cheese is plentiful and melty. Also, tons of bacon and chips on the BBQ + Bacon Chee, which is a definite plus. They load it up with the toppings and cheese but the bread still manages to hold its shape when being eaten. Major plus! The only complaint about the food is that the roasted chicken is under seasoned or not seasoned at all. It was very bland but didn’t necessarily detract from the sandwich. Definite recommendation for lunch or dinner. It’s pretty affordable. We got two double decker chees, one being custom and one being specialty, for only $ 20. The sandwiches were huge and loaded with toppings, so I was not displeased with the price. Give this place a try!

We’d been meaning to get here since it opened and finally made it for lunch today(Sunday). The pros: the price is right. the grilled cheese donuts are fantastic. Grilled cheese was good. The cons: the soup(I got classic tomato) was totally underwhelming. Campbell’s from a can would have been better. Also, there wasn’t really very much cheese on my grilled cheese. We’ll probably be back, it’s convenient and cheap(and tasty) but I’ll skip the soup and add extra cheese next time.

IMPORTANT: Nashvillians, if you are comparing this place to The Grilled Cheeserie in your mind, stop right now. It is not in the same category as its rolling competitor. A «fancy grilled cheese»(as advertised — their words, not mine) sounded amazing on a cold, rainy afternoon, but there was nothing fancy here by any definition. I am genuinely confused at the glowing reviews and hype surrounding this place. Is it because of Shark Tank? Are people too scared of and/or hypnotized by Barbara Corcoran to realize what they are eating? The list of options looked promising, good variety and some unique pairings. The seasonal soup was a Yazoo chili — I love that they’ve incorporated something local. However, I was surprised that a place called Tom + Chee did not have a soup + sandwich combo option. I ordered the pesto turkey with a side of mac & chee, my husband created his own with lots of cheese and bacon and a side of chunky tomato soup. Both sandwiches were on what I can only describe as thick Texas Toast marinated in butter. I’m talking more grease than a cheap delivery pizza. The(dark meat? I hope?) turkey was sloppily diced into unrecognizable oblivion, with a few random large chunks. After the first few bites I scraped a good deal of the mystery meat off. I think the pesto was ok, but all I could taste was butter and salt, so it’s hard to say. The mac and cheese was fine but had little flavor. The soup was extremely salty. I would like to say that hopefully this was an off day and they can redeem themselves, but I will not be returning to find out. I’ll stick to my own kitchen or the Grilled Cheeserie when I need cheese and soup.

I like the idea of this place and I wish them the best. But my experience was lacking in a few important areas. First, the restaurant positions itself as a chic-gourmet«fancy grilled cheese» establishment, but the ingredients tasted cheaply sourced. «Fancy» doesn’t just mean you serve uncommon ingredients, it also implies that those ingredients possess requisite quality. Cheap Texas toast, bland cheese and salty tomato soup don’t live up to the bill. Second, the bread was so buttery my hands were greasy for hours afterward. It was an unpleasant taste, but the feeling on my hands was worse. Finally, the atmosphere didn’t match the restaurant’s product offering. When I think about grilled cheese and hot soup, I think about a warm, inviting ambiance. Tom and Chee’s environment lacked personality or warmth. I wish the restaurant the best of luck, but it wasn’t good enough to motivate me to stop making my own, less greasy grilled cheese sandwiches.

Stumbled across this place randomly while running errands. Was not let down. It was cold, I was hungry, and there is nothing more appetizing or appealing than a grilled cheese with a little tomato soup to go along. These guys have so many options, but I went with the Pep+Che and creamy tomato basil soup. The sandwich was perfectly grilled and cheesy, and the cup of soup was wonderful and warm. Perfect for dipping my sandwich in. What I like as that even though j got a cup of soup, they do offer a smaller«dipping» size, because who didn’t want to dip a wonderful grilled cheese in some hot tomato soup. I can’t wait to give this place anther try and even give the dessert Grilled Donuts a try! They look great, yet possibly a little too sweet for my normal liking!

I’m going to give it 4 for now, even though I was completely underwhelmed with the creamy tomato soup. Tasted like a jar of tomato sauce– period. Maybe I’m just used to the Food Co and Bread & Co tomato soups, but this did not meet the mark. Another disclaimer is that this is no Grilled Cheeserie. This is more of a middle of the road concept, nothing gourmet to it. No pear and Brie, avocado, you get the point. I ordered the ham and chee to kind of get a feeling for the place. Hard to screw up ham, pickles and American cheese. It was tasty. Would be great hangover food and reminded me of Waffle House– but in a good way. I would stick with a classic grilled cheese here based on my sandwich, but I do want to venture out and try more on the menu. Plenty of seating and the employee at the register was friendly. Will be back and report my next visit.

This place was pretty good. I got the Mac and cheese grilled cheese and my boyfriend got the BLT and chee. The sandwiches were good, but really heavy. They were very greasy. Like the bread itself was super greasy. I could only eat half of mine. He ate his whole sandwich, but ended up with some wicked heart burn later. Next time I would probably not get the Mac and cheese sandwich. It was good, but I think it really added to the grease factor. I didn’t bother taking the other half home because I didn’t think it would heat up well at home. We got a s’mores donut to split for dessert. This was the real star of the meal. A glazed donut with graham cracker, chocolate and marshmallow marscapone. I could have eaten a whole bowl that that marscapone. For the record. It was really good. Save room for dessert! Overall, I think they need to work on the greasy factor. It’s a little much. I’ve seen other people on Unilocal complaining about the same thing. It was decent enough that I would go back for another try.

As someone who doesn’t watch Shark Tank I hadn’t heard about Tom+Chee until recently. After having eaten there I see what the big deal is about! Granted, the menu is a tad myopic being all about Tomato Soup or Cheese Related sandwiches, but they certainly find a way to make it work. I had the crunchy grilled cheese Italian which was VERY good, and it was a good size for the price. For dessert the better half and I shared a Choco Bacon Bliss Grilled Cheese Donut. With no expectation for what it would taste like I would say it was. Different. Especially the inclusion of the cheese(Mozzarella) on something so sweet. But the use of the word different here is not meant to be negative. I would absolutely love to try one of the other Grilled Cheese donuts. I absolutely recommend anyone try out this new place with its unique set of cheese(and tomato soup) related products.

Ever since I saw this Shark Tank episode a year ago, I have been dying to try Tom + Chee. I was sooooo excited when I found out there was a location opening in Nashville, and I finally got the chance to try it today. I had avidly studied the menu for weeks prior to my first visit, and I was sure I was going to get the Pep + Chee, but when I arrived they had a special… the Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese. I had to get it. My husband got the turkey and pesto grilled cheese and we split the smores donut. I tried the turkey pesto, and it was fantabulous! Perfect taste and texture. The buffalo chicken grilled cheese had a wonderful taste too. The celery/carrot/purple cabbage slaw was a little too crunchy for me. I am the person who gets wings and doesn’t touch the celery on the side. I didn’t see the«slaw» in the description, and I ended up picking it off. The food, atmosphere and service were really good, especially for a new store that just opened. I will definitely be back, although, I will definitely be trying other things on the menu. I’m so glad this establishment has finally made it to Nashville!

Tom and Chee is a great place to go for lunch. The selection of grilled cheese is large and I recommend looking at the menu before going. I got The Flying Pig and it was delicious and my mother-in-law got the special of the day… I think it was chicken ranch grilled cheese. Next time, I hope to try a doughnut grilled cheese! They looked delish! ***For parents with small children: there is plenty of room to take a stroller in and to maneuver it around.

I came here for lunch around 1230 — 1pm on a tuesday(just to give you reference as to how many people were here). I would say approximately 80−90% of the tables were filled with customers! I was actually really surprised on a random day there would be that many. There wasn’t a line, so that was a good thing. The menu is pretty intense, so make sure you read it well before you get up and order. I ordered a crunchy chicken thing, aka chicken on a grilled cheese with pepperjack and chips. I normally dont like anything spicy, but decided to keep the pepperjack in there. You actually can’t taste it! It was warm and delicious and crunchy and melty. The only downside I would say is that it is a bit saltier than I normally like my food to be, but I’m very sensitive to salt levels in my food(i like never put salt in my food). It was also a tad bit greasy; whenever I picked it up with my hands, the leftover grease residue would stay on my fingers throughout the meal. My cousin got a normal turkey melty sandwich but she added chips for that extra crunch. Dont forget about the extras you can add onto your sandwich! Things i want to order next: OFF their DESSERTMENU!!! they have donut melts or whatever, and smore melts. They get the order out to you FAST! and they’re super friendly about accommodating anything you need. I would definitely check this place out if you like melted sandwiches! The prices aren’t too bad. its approximately around $ 5 – 7 for a sandwich without any extras.

zOMG… take my cholesterol and launch it into the stratosphere. They have donuts. With cheese. Like, melted cheese and chocolate sauce, whipped cream and stuff. But lets start with lunch before we head down total health disaster land. My family had been ruthlessly hoovering around this location as soon as we saw signs go up. A whole STORE that makes grilled cheese and is putting up action figures in the window? Done and done. We ended up getting in on their ‘soft open’ day but you would never know the place wasn’t ready for launch. There were sooo many people working, it was nutty. The cashier had someone helping her, but the biggest slow down was me and my daughter(and the other customers, to be fair) who were staring at the unfamiliar menu totally dazzed by all the options. They have some suggestions, but you can also add any bizarre combination of things to make your own single or double decker grilled cheese sandwich. The grilled cheese of it all is awesome. Fresh crunchy bread, melty cheese and great add ons. I ended up getting a roasted chicken, tomato, cheddar and smoked gouda cheese and it was heavenly. Just enough butter to be bad but super crunchy and delicious. The chicken looked(and tasted) like actual chicken and the portions were more than enough to take half home but not like Cheesecake Factory vomit inducing. Mini got grilled cheese with BBQ potato chips inside of it and devoured it and threw in an extra side of mac and cheese for good measure. Alas, her eyes were too big for her stomach and she has yet to eat the mac and cheese. They also will put mac and cheese on your sandwich if that kind of thing floats your boat. The place is super clean, folks are very friendly and price is just right. I didn’t try the ‘tom’ part of tom and chee, but the buffalo chicken soup they had that day seemed to be selling pretty well and there were no unhappy campers in sight. You can believe that these folks could crush all subway and sandwich competition and the fact that they sell beer will up their appeal for grabbing a bite with the kiddos. Ample parking is the current situation, but I’d hate to be the tenants going in next to this place. Its gonna be mobbed fast. If you get there early, you can grab a spot on the patio and they bring your food to you.
