I will keep this review rather short. The Sushi is always top notch and at a reasonable price. The service is usually quite quick and very rarely slow unless in peak hours which makes sense. The employees though just almost always seem to be in a bad mood and agitated which is offputting.

Great food! The worst service I have ever had. On one occasion, my friend ordered a cherry coke and upon asking for another, they informed her that there were no free refills and had actually charged her for a Shirley temple. For takeout orders, they won’t allow you to have any extra sauce for your order without nickel and dime-ing you at $ 1 per half-filled container. When placing two to-go orders, they allowed us ONE sauce for BOTH orders, making us pay more money for any additional sauces despite having made two orders and not one. I really wish the service matched the food.

I would give this place 5 stars — the food(we had sushi) was pretty fantastical service was good! I was rubbed the wrong way a bit bc there was an open booth me and my mom asked to sit in and the lady up front wouldn’t let us sit. she said ‘it’s someone’s’ and no one sat or was sitting there :/rude.

If you are craving hibachi and don’t want to spend too much money, i would recommend coming here during lunch! You get the same amount of food but for a way cheaper price. holla! I usually order chicken or steak, but when i’m feeling fancy i’ll go with the chicken/shrimp or steak/shrimp combo. Watching our food being prepared right in front of us really brings a whole new definition to foodgasm. For me, watching the chef chop up the onions and mixed in the all the secret sauces to the rice makes me really appreciate my food even more. The whole process is an ART. Why pay to go to the MoMA when you can just go get hibachi? The best part about hibachi, for me, is the YUMYUMSAUCE. Can i just swim in a pool of yum yum sauce? omg, i don’t know what they put in that sauce, but please keep on supplying that sauce to me. I can put yum yum sauce on ANYTHING. Mix it with the rice and you have a lil taste of heaven.

Good, generous portions of Hibachi food, but then who pays the higher prices for a Hibachi meal just for the food? The culinary show happening right before you and the freshness of the food being prepared in front of you… that’s what increases the prices for a Hibachi meal, right? I know getting the food right is the most important part of any restaurant and I think Tokyo does fine in this regard. They have a very tasty salad, good portion sizes of meat or fish, and a very yummy fried rice. But, their chefs really need to engage more with the customers while preparing their food. Our chef did a 5 second volcano thing, but that was about all the tricks he had up his sleeve. Also, service was a tad too slow in my view, but the staff’s friendliness almost made up for it. I’m a big fan of udon noodles and katsu preparations, plan to try those next time. All in all, a very decent Japanese place.

I ate here last night with a group of friends. This was my first time visiting Tokyo Japanese Steak House for Hibachi. They had a jazz trio set up in their piano bar, which was a nice touch. This did not make up for the terrible service, mediocre food, and disgusting restroom facilities. We did not receive our drinks until 20 minutes after we had ordered them, and even then, we were not given refills. I substituted steamed rice for fried rice, and this did not come out until well after my steak and veggies had been served. To this, the hibachi chef commented«I don’t know what’s up — he(the waiter) makes 15 an hour!» The bathroom was grubby and moldy. I’d rather go to Shogun in Cool Springs /Franklin. Will not be back here ever.

If you love hibachi & great lunch specials this is the place to be ! The place has been in green hills for awhile, it’s a tad bit outdated. I work in the area so whenever I’m craving sushi I come here. They have a two or three roll special. I typically order the spicy salmon roll or tuna roll. Fills me up & miso soup is delicious! They also have hibachi lunch specials. I’ve only been to Tokyo twice for dinner after a movie. They get pretty busy! The staff is really friendly; service goes a long way with me. I def recommend Tokyo if you don’t mind the green hills traffic lol and don’t want to pay Kobe prices !

There aren’t many options around green hills so this is still my go to hibachi. Don’t expect friendly service because you won’t get it but that’s more of funny to me than offensive. Pretty standard hibachi but my issue is that the shrimp and chicken are almost over cooked. Best bet is steak medium rare.

Worst customer service I’ve experienced at a restaurant. I didn’t even get a chance to try the food, the poor service was enough evidence of the food’s quality. Go to Cheesecake Factory if you’re looking for somewhere friendly and amazing to eat! This place doesn’t even deserve a star. The general manager is a joke! I Will never come to this disgusting place again!

okay so. I came here to enjoy some hibachi and wasn’t even greated at the door. I got an awful look with an AWFUL attitude. Got sat and asked for a water with a lemon. We all did.(4 of us) the waiter brought us 3 lemons and we simply asked for 1 more. The waiter then got an attitude and said that this restaurant doesn’t «waste» lemons. He went on and on about it. Probably one of the worst servers I have EVER encountered. EXTREMELYRUDE. His name was Jack. he also gave me an attitude when I was putting in my order. I will not be coming back.

I’ve been looking for a good Hibachi restaurant in Nashville for some time now, and this is probably the best in the area, though it still has some major flaws. The food is actually really great — traditional hibachi style rice and huge plates of food. The salmon and chicken hibachi dishes looked amazing and were generously portioned. The appetizers were nice and we all had a good time passing each dish around. I had the tempura udon, which was pretty average, but again, more food than I’d expected for the price. The atmosphere is a bit run down, and I honestly would not choose this place for any special occasion because of it. In addition, the wait staff was an absolute mess. That being said, we didn’t sit at the grill, as if that’s an excuse for our food coming at completely different times(like 30 minutes apart!). The whole place was empty and there were easily enough servers to keep us satisfied, but we just ran into problem after problem with them and ended up being stuck there for over two hours. We did have around ten people in our party, but there is just absolutely no excuse for that much of a gaffe in service. I’m only ever coming back here because the alternate hibachi restaurants are much, much worse.

If you’re looking for hibachi in Green Hills, then Tokyo is your place to go. This place has all your hibachi must haves… joking chefs, a zillion pictures on the walls of celebs with the owners and some semi private rooms for you and your posse to hang out and bask in soy goodness. The food is solid if not inspired and normally would have merited 4 stars except for the prices which are way too high. These folks have phoned it in a bit having cornered the Green Hills hibachi market. Parking is a nightmare on their wonky lot and for the prices they are asking, the seafood should be way higher quality. If you’re in the mood for sushi, head downtown for better fish and if you’re in the mood for hibachi, head to Kyoto in Bellevue. Just a couple suggestions. Mileage may vary.

Let’s start by saying that I love hibachi. Seriously, I don’t understand how people do not like the food. It’s delicious. Tokyo’s food does not disappoint. Their show, however, is a little weak– I find that the chefs do not engage with the tables as much as they could. There is the usual onion volcano, but I’ve noticed that they tend to rush through this, and at times, I have even missed it because it was so quick. The service is generally pretty good. All in all, I’ll continue going back for the tasty hibachi.

Overpriced and mediocre. I went with friends for hibachi and got the chicken and steak, which ended up being around $ 25 for a bunch of grilled meat that was not great. The salad dressing makes the whole thing watery, the fried rice is pretty much just rice and soy sauce, and my «vegetables» were mostly onions with a few mushrooms tossed in. Would not go again.

One of the best sushi places! Especially price wise. They dragon roll is very-very tasty! On Thursdays they have a live band and it Friday after 7 a pianist. It’s very relaxing and he plays modern radio hits.

I am not a big fan of Hibachi… but this place impressed me. Yes there is the standard Hibachi tricks(volcano mountain) and flipping of the egg. What really impressed was how delicious the food tasted. I’m sick and tired of those playing that just add way too much soy sauce into everything and pretend everything is better. Or those places where the butter looks way too orange for its own good. This place actually looked clean and the food tasted pretty good. The sushi(and Hibachi places aren’t usually the experts of sushi) is one of the best sushi I have ever had. Oh and it really accommodated my friend for his 31st birthday. I mean, if Taylor Swift went here… it clearly has to be pretty good… then again maybe she moved to New York for a reason.
