This is a pretty neat place, although I personally found the hype to be a little strong. Parking is difficult, the waits are long, and the service — to the extent you need service — is fairly slow. At any rate, it’s a cool concept and the pancakes are pretty decent. But if all you want are pancakes, cook them at home or go to the pancake pantry for the same wait/price. This is the sort of place you go for the novelty, not the food quality alone.

If pfunky means dirty, it is. Floors, griddles, bathrooms, and there was even sugar crystals growing in the syrup containers. I choose the chicken salad. From the bite I ate, hopefully the gross amount of salt will kill any organisms picked up there.

Was not impressed at all! It was not very clean, plates came out dirty. The griddle was not up to my standards. The food was not good or well presented! Will not be back

Pancakes are delicious but I avoid this place on the weekends as I’m not a fan of 1+ hour waits. The potatoes and pancakes are very good. Service was friendly. My main complaint is how dirty the place is. Various splatters on the windows and walls and just an overall grimy feeling to the place. Makes it not very appetizing to cook your own food in a dirty area.

A really unique and fun idea to cook your own pancakes on a hot plate in the center of your table. They bring you different batters and you can pick from a variety of toppings to mix in. So why only three stars? Well, the service was only ok, nothing special. The«all you can eat» pancakes does not include«all you can eat» toppings. I paid over $ 6 a person and each were brought a small cup of topping. My blueberries were frozen and were only enough to make about three small pancakes. After that you are forced to buy additional toppings or eat plain pancakes. All in all, the food was good, service was ok, and the atmosphere was fun. The all you can eat pancakes ad was a bit misleading and the frozen fruit was enough to drop my score. Not worth the money

We had SO much fun and SO much food at Pfunky Griddle! My mom was in town visiting from Atlanta so we got up early on Saturday and made it to the Pfunky Griddle by 8:30am. I was determined to get up early and try out one of Nashville’s fun breakfast places! We didn’t have to wait and we were seat immediately. I was glad we did this as there was already a line forming when we left an hour later. Unfortunately, as there were just 2 of us we were seated at a large table with another group at the other end, but, sometimes that happens. In order to hear my mom over the noise I moved to the chair at the end of the table which just made me feel like I was constantly in the way. Not super comfortable seating. My only other complaint was that the coffee drinks we ordered took over 10min to come out. I understand that they were backed up and it was Saturday morning but it was still kind of frustrating. In fact I had to take my drink ‘to go’ because I couldn’t get it all down before the end of the meal. I had DIY pancakes and she had DIY French toast. We were both really happy with the quality and amount of food for the inexpensive price we paid! I wish that the portions of toppings that they gave for the ‘all you can eat’ pancakes was a little larger but I made do. I also found it odd that they brought out both the 5 grain and ‘normal’ pancake batter as is standard. It seems kind of wasteful to me… we tried the 5 grain and we were not fans. Overall, it was a great place. Fun and different concept. Really great pricing. The atmosphere was fun and the food was good! I would likely go back– especially EARLY on a weekend or a weekday.

What an awesome Idea for a restaurant! You get to sit around a hot griddle and cook your own pancakes! I’d highly recommend bringing a date or your family here for this neat interactive experience.(They also have menu items for you that prefer not to cook anything yourselves) The servers were super friendly and very informative about the whole experience. The resaurant itself is in a small old house. The floorboards still creek with that sound of old age. But don’t think I’m saying this in a bad way. It adds to the feel of «home» that you get from the place. It’s like you’re coming over to grandma’s house but she’s teaching you how to cook for yourself. There’s a screened in back area where I ate. It gets a bit warm with all those hot plates going all the time, but I imagine during the spring/fall/winter it could be quite pleasant. I wasn’t sure about the multigrain batter, but it’s all I want now when I crave pancakes. I’d go back by myself if I didn’t think it looked so depressing. Haha! I expect to go back soon to try some of their other menu options. I’m sure they’re fantastic!

Good food, fun concept(cook your own breakfast). Patio room was more of a family atmosphere(lots of young kids!) and a little cramped, but overall good experience. Definitely get here early because the place gets packed!

Great concept and fun for families. You can use the griddle for the potatoes, eggs, pancakes and grilled cheese so naturally we ordered all of them. We got full really fast because we had the potatoes first but they were good as i love mashed potatoes. Grilled cheese was as you would expect, although I recommend pouring some of the grated cheese over the sandwich and finish on the griddle so that it creates an amazing cheese crust on your sandwich. Tomato soup was really salty and tasted like Campbell’s. Service was pretty fast and pleasant. The toppings came in those plastic condiment ramekins so order accordingly. I had to order several for the cheese only because I have to have it on everything. Would have liked a sugar free syrup option and avocados would be a great addition to the extras menu. They did have almond milk for coffee which was nice.

GREATIDEA. Innovative! Overall Fun! SUPERFUNSIGHTSNEARBY(the painted fence, behind and on the side of Pfunky Griddle are BRILLIANT)!! Have breakfast/brunch with the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Dolly Parton, etc. etc. Service: I was a little disappointed. Perhaps our waitress was having a bad day? Flavor: I didn’t think the batters tasted very good for the pancakes? BUMMER: * Unfortunately you can’t get a pancake meal, and something else(to try more than one thing) b/c the pancake batter is endless… I can understand if it’s two people and they want to split an endless pancake meal, but two people getting two meals that are similarly priced, doesn’t make sense that you can’t share the two meals between the two people. Pricing: Very reasonable Wait time on a Saturday afternoon: Not bad, maybe 15 – 20 mins. Temperature: It’s hot here in the summer as you know, the hot tops on the tables obviously make it hot while you’re there enjoying your food, just so you dress accordingly. Iced Coffee: Not that great, seemed overpriced.

My kids loved this place, the 5 grain batter and regular batter where tasty. This is a pancake place but the bacon was good. Getting to cook on the open griddle was a high light for my 8 and 5 year old. The staff was very friendly and the coffee was tasty and bottomless. Not on the way to anywhere but worth a detour.

Best breakfast of our trip! The Pfunky Griddle was recommended to us by one of the downtown stores and I’m so happy we took her recommendation. The kids loved making and flipping their own pancakes! I Ordered the biscuits and gravy and wow! AMAZING! The pancakes were the best I’ve ever had, wish I could get the recipe. You’d think having to cook your own meal would leave you feeling jiped, but it was a fun experience that we all enjoyed.

I’ve been here twice. Once with a girlfriend and I wanted ALLTHEPANCAKES, and it was just what I wanted and we had fun with great service. I went a second time, and was really trying to eat a bit healthier. They do have options, but really not anything«great» in that arena for breakfast(but I should have known that going in). I know pancakes and good olé big breakfast is there thing — no fault but mine. However — The first time I ate inside, the second time outside in the middle of a humid summer morning with my family — because there was no room inside. The place was so crowded, our options were to eat outside or wait an hour. We were hungry, so we picked door #2. It was HOT.. . maybe they have changed the layout now, but it was almost miserable because you had to cook off a hot griddle in the hot summer morning. My nephews loved it.. . but I did not. ! However, I don’t have kids. So, my entire experience could change once I do. When I have them, I would love to bring them here, and sit inside on a hot summer morning:-)

This place is a nice for say a first date or to chat with friends while cooking your pancakes. They only have one type of syrup which isn’t maple so that was a downer, but cooking was fun,. The atmosphere is relaxed and the employees were nice as well. The only thing I would change is to either lower the price of the add ons because they come in such small portions at 75 cents a pop or make them 25 – 50 and as I stated they need a variety of syrup if it is a cook your own pancake restaurant. Overal Pfunky Griddle is a relaxed and entertaining experience that adds to our neighborhood delightfully quirky small town in a big city feel of Berry Hill.

While their was a half hour wait the service was great everyone was super friendly! This is a great concept cook your own food at your table! It’s great the worst thing about cooking is the prep work and the clean up and you don’t have to do that here! This place is awesome!

This place was definitely neat and definitely delicious! Sure you can make all this stuff at home, but this place provides a great fun atmosphere you and your friends can enjoy. Because it’s a popular place, it does get loud. The thing that keeps it from being a 5 star for me are the add on portions, they are kinda small. Like I got bananas with mine and it wasn’t that many banana slices at all but enough to still have fun with. However, along with eating pancakes, you can get eggs and potatoes to fry on the griddle. The potatoes portion size is huge! So along with your all you can eat pancakes you can pretty much eat to your hearts desire of potatoes, and they are so tasty, too! I’d definitely recommend it to people want to have a fun eating experience! The prices by the way are great, too. heh heh

As much as we love Loveless, we decided to skip it this trip and find something a little more local. I wanted to go to a few shops in this area and was extremely excited about breakfast here for our first day in Nashville. While the concept is great and fun, the execution was not there for us and it was mainly server related. We made it early and were lucky enough to beat the«rush» When we were leaving, there was a line and no parking spots left. My recommendation is to come as early as possible if you’re bringing a car. Our bad service started from the second we sat down. The host was gracious and nice, but it took a good solid few minutes before our server came over. We knew what drinks we wanted and were just kinda looking around the room for a few minutes trying to figure out who was in charge of our table. She finally came and took our drinks. They were brought over fairly quickly and I loved my pumpkin chai. When she came back with the drinks, we were ready to order. I went with the potatoes with a few toppings and 2 eggs. I ordered everything a la carte. My husband went with the gluten-free french toast. At this point, we were wondering at what point they turned the griddle on. Maybe we should have spoke up, but we never saw our server during the waiting period for us to ask. When our food was brought out shortly after, another girl came to deliver it and noticed the griddle was never turned on. She told us to wait 5 minutes and offered to bring more toppings for the inconvenience. I’d already ordered what I wanted so I just figured they’d take the ones we did order off the bill(which they didn’t.) I timed it on my phone to wait 10 solid minutes before we threw everything on the griddle. Nothing happened. It wasn’t sizzling. The bread was getting soggy and the eggs weren’t turning white. At this point, we figured someone would come over to check on us but they didn’t. My husband doesn’t like to complain or speak up at restaurants, but I was getting so angry that I forced him to go find someone for assistance. He finally obliged and walked up to the front where they make the coffee. Our server had the audacity to look at him and walk right past him(I witnessed her do this) but she still didn’t even come over to our table. The nice girl that delivered our food came over and wasn’t sure what was taking so long and apologized again. It was 20 minutes before the thing was hot and finally sizzling. At this point, 90% of my husband’s bread was soggy, although I’ll admit it did still taste pretty dang good. I ate my potatoes cold but they were very peppery and delicious, even though they weren’t browned nor hot. I ended up scrambling my eggs with some of the toppings I had and liked it. I really do recommend Pfunky based on food. If we weren’t cursed with a server that just didn’t care about us at all, I’d probably have given it a high 4 or 5 star review. However, we were made to feel that we should never have came here and it was just a waste. We paid full price for an overall disappointing experience.

A great place to go to breakfast if you’re on a budget and want to be in a fun environment. Sure, you can go to other places if you want to sit back and be 100% served, but making your own breakfast on a grill built into your table is oddly fun! I look forward to coming back! Overall, quick, fun, and inexpensive.

The Pfunky Griddle’s entire shtick is that you make your own breakfast atop a griddle attached to your table. The reviews I’m seeing here complaining about this very fact make my eyes twitch.(Yes! You can TOTALLY make your own pancakes, french toast and eggs at home for a lower price! So, why don’t you?) You come to Pfunky Griddle for the experience; and it’s a fun one! We arrived around 9:30 am on a Sunday morning, apparently beating the breakfast rush. I was pleased by this. Upon entering, I noticed the aforementioned sign informing us to notify them regarding any food allergies. I told the hostess that we would be dining gluten-free that morning and she brought one of their designated, gluten-free griddles to the table. I ordered the pancakes with bacon, and my boyfriend ordered the gluten-free french toast and eggs with feta and black olives. We had expected a line and had stopped for beverages at Crema to tide us over during the anticipated wait; since that didn’t end up happening, we ordered water and never tried the pfunky coffee. You get about six 4″ pancakes out of one pitcher of gluten-free batter, and I was only good for five. As fellow Unilocaler Stacy P. noted, the gluten-free batter is a bit grainy. This problem is solved with the addition of peanut butter and/or Nutella. The gluten-free french toast, on the other hand, was very good. No graininess whatsoever. I preferred it over the pancakes I ordered. Nothing of note can be said about the omelet the boy made, as… well… he made it himself, so any problems were his own damn fault. We didn’t experience«the sweats» others have mentioned from the heat of the griddles; temperatures are dropping outside, which made it quite comfortable inside. The service was prompt and friendly; the crowd started to filter in shortly before we finished eating. As we left, the line I had anticipated now stretched outside the restaurant. I was happy to see that. TIP: Order Nutella for your pancakes. Order a side of bacon. Proceed to dip bacon in your leftover Nutella. You’re welcome. TIP: Use leftover french toast dredge to coat and re-fry a pancake. You’re welcome. TIP: Use leftover french toast dredge to make tiny crepes on the griddle. You’re welcome.

3.5 stars The Pfunky Griddle lives up to its name, its a funky good time. Fair warning to all, this place is a dining experience. You are the chef and PG is providing you with the tools and supplies to cook your own food, but most importantly, they are also providing the prepping and clean up as well. What once was a house has been transformed into a do it yourself breakfast experience. Each table is equipped with a flat top in the middle of the table. You order the toppings you want, they bring it out to you, and then the fun ensues trying to impress yourself or dining partner of your culinary skills or lack there of. One of the main reasons I honestly decided to go to Pfunky Griddle is because it was listed on as a breakfast place, which can be hard to find. I was actually shocked at how serious they took GF. It isn’t often upon entry you see a sign telling the staff to let you know if you have an allergy or little lone call Celiac Disease out by name. Most restaurants aren’t really that familiar with what it even is. They will provide a separate cooking griddle and utensils for a GF meal. The only downside is that if your dining partner isn’t GF, they will have to wait to cook their meal. Also, like others have mentioned, the GF pancake mix is a bit gritty. It wasn’t the best nor was it the worst that I’ve had. The trick to making it taste better would be to add a mix in top the pancake mix. Spreading nutella on the pancakes works just as well. Like most places, GF is a $ 1 up charge for either the pancake mix or GF bread used for French Toast. Also, depending on the number of topping you get, the bill can add up quickly, the GF pancake mix came with one topping and then it was $ 0.75 per additional topping. If your looking for an interactive dining experience, Pfunky Griddle is a good option.
