I moved to Nashville earlier this year, and a friend who has curly hair recommended the ouidad haircut for me since my hair is wavy and flips at the ends. My hair is really thick, and when I came in, I specifically said that my biggest problem is everyone cuts/​styles it straight and that I like to wear it where I use the round brush and somewhat smooth out the top part but then leave it flippy at my shoulders (so that I still get a bit of the wave/​curl). I liked the girl who cut my hair as a person, but I have essentially the same look that I had coming in, just slightly thinned out… It’s still straight, bulky, and just hanging by my face. It isn’t flipping and has no wave to it because it is weighted down from the straight outer length. Plus, it is still triangle-​shaped because it has a lot more air in it when I dry it myself (and isn’t sleek). I know I could use the flat iron to help smooth that, but then it is still stick straight, which I don’t like.
The hair stylist was very attentive and explained everything thoroughly, but the person who cut my hair in Atlanta worked with the waves so that I was somewhere between layers and a straight, flat cut. The waves fell so nicely, and I thought a curl specialist would be able to do something along those lines. Unfortunately, I ended up with a slightly thinned out version of what I get everywhere else.

Highly recommend! Danielle has been doing my hair for years. She is always right on point and very dedicated to what she does. She is always up on the latest colors, cut and styles. (Not to mention she is super sweet) I have learned the hard way to never just trust anybody with my hair. If you are looking for a new stylist you have found the right place!

LOVE this place. I was recommended to go here by a co-​worker and I am so happy with my service and what Laura Beth did to my hair. The color and cut were perfect and the price was great. I was going elsewhere for awhile and my hair turned an orangish color from the balyage I got done. Laura Beth fixed it perfectly! I also paid so much more at the other place for half the time spent and less of what was done to my hair than at Surreal. I can’t wait to go back :)

Beth does a fantastic cut and color that looks natural (and I haven’t been blond since I was 6, so this is generous). Very reasonable prices (probably because you’re not paying a ton extra for super fancy diggs). I love love love the product they sell here too. Very nice salon.

Surreal Hair Studio is a friendly, low key kind of salon with world class stylists.
I have been seeing Melanie Stanton-​Williams at her other locations previously, and I’ve been very happy with the move to her own studio.
Major pluses:
There is direct with stylist scheduling, no snooty receptionist.
Everyone that works there is very friendly and it’s always a very socialable environment.
