St. Mary’s is one of the little treasures that I enjoy visiting. I haven’t been in quite a while but made a stop here just the other day to order prayer cards for my dear Nana’s funeral. I stopped by again today to pick up said prayer cards. It is a curious place to visit due to being set up on staggered levels. But the selection is quite nice… Rosaries, crucifixes, icons, books, prayer cards, jewelry, etc. If they don’t have it, chances are they can get their hands on it for you. I am particularly smitten with the icons and crucifixes. I have bought plenty of them here. Their religious jewelry selection is very nice as well. The staff is all very helpful and patient in assisting. I also adore the book selections ranging from Thomas Merton, Mother Teresa, to children’s selections and meditation and prayer volumes as well. Of course you do not have to be a Catholic to enjoy this place. So if you are looking for religious inspiration, drop by.

I was raised Catholic in the MidWest and grew up surrounded by small Catholic shops. Moving here to Nashville, I was shocked to see even one! St. Mary’s has as much as all those shops up north combined — they have to, with nobody else around. Part of me was nervous that I’d walk in and see political proclamations everywhere, and I was so relieved to see that they’re above all that. The staff was friendly and let me just wander around the four stories(including the basement). Books adequately divided into comprehensive sections, pendants, rosaries, prayer cards, statues, plaques, priest’s supplies, nativity scenes, yard art, and even traveling kits for priests!!! I was amazed, and everything was reasonably priced. This first visit was during Ordinary Time, and I can’t wait to check it out during other Church season!

Need a rosary? St. Mary’s got a ton. Need an icon? St. Mary’s got a ton. Need St. Francis statue? St. Mary’s got a ton. Need Bible? St. Mary’s got a ton. Need a new collar to dress up as a priest? St. Mary’s got a ton. How about a fancy Chasuble? Yep, St. Mary’s has a few of those! St. Mary’s is a bookstore that caters to the catholics in the city and it’s well appointed for it’s clientele. For those of us who don’t walk this tradition, there are plenty of things to look at… trinkets and jewelry galore! I like to stop by here to look through the various books they care… theology, self help, Christian living, etc. The place is quirky and creaky due to it’s age and the fact it covers 3 – 4 levels.

St. Mary’s is not just a bookstore, although they do have a good supply of Catholic books and bibles. They also have religiously inspired cards. I recently explored this store because I had to have a mass said at the cathedral and needed a mass card to send. They do have these, as well as racks and racks of prayer cards and cards of specific saints. There are also, as you might expect, lots of rosary beads, first communion gifts, confirmation gifts, statues, and other gifts. The people who work here are lovely, helpful and not pushy at all. They don’t make you feel like you’re not as holy as they are(even if you’re really not) and they’ll help you find just the right thing.
