Great little Japanese market. They are often willing to go to the restaurant next door and get you a specific amount of fish. The only other Japanese market I know of in town is near Nolensville Rd and Old Hickory Blvd. The folks at Sonobana are nicer, and the prices seem a bit lower.

We were looking to make sushi & needed some tuna. I did a Google & found someone saying that Sonobana had a small market next to their restaurant. I’ve never been to Sonobana, I didn’t even know it was there. We usually hit up the Sushi Train. We stopped in around 2:30pm on a Saturday afternoon. The market is located right next to the restaurant, the door to the left. The store is very small. They’ve got your typical ethnic candy, also rice, frozen food & some fresh fish. We bought a nice piece of tuna from them. The price of tuna is $ 24.99 a pound. The price of tuna is $ 26.99 at Whole Foods. So you save a few dollars. The man behind the counter told us it was a fresh piece from the restaurant next door. We bought it & used it in our homemade sushi. It was good, didn’t smell fishy at all. We also picked up a bag of rice. The rice was a little high compared to other international markets like K&S(although it doesn’t smell like K&S). The man at the counter was friendly & if we are in the area, we will stop back in if we need anything.
