Good parking, a couple of port-a-potties if you’re in need, picnic tables. Come here if you’re training for a very long run, the Music City Bike Path goes through it and it’s broad and smooth and uncrowded, safe, pretty. You can run for miles without having to think about it or worry about a wrong turn.

I can’t wait to see this place liven up even more in the spring. I’m more of a hiker when it comes to these areas so I appreciated the non-paved trails that I understand benefit the runners for sure. Definitely a good place to detach.

Don’t let the area that you travel through to get here fool you. This is a great park that provides miles of walking trails, bird observing, and a great dog trail. After traveling through the golf course, you make your way to the parking area and off on the trails you go. You can do a scenic 1 mile loop, or walk further if you want. This is one end of the greenway that goes all the way to percy lake, and their a few bikers that trek the whole thing. Overall, a very nice relaxing way to spend a spring or fall weekend day!

i like shelby bottoms nature center(and the doggy park), it’s such a lovely place. not scary at all. i can come here and walk by myself without fearing for my life or purity. some people jog here, some people bike here, some people walk their dogs here, and some people, like me, just walk around like the pokey little puppy. i’m pretty sure this place would be perfect in any weather, you could come here when it was gloomy and rainy and it’d put sunshine in your heart.

Free date alert! I mean what is there NOT to love about this park. There are tons of walking trails that include mowed sections and paved paths. Most of the trails are pretty flat so you can do quite a bit of walking. There are also lots of opportunities to see birds and critters. Last Saturday we stopped by to try out the Green Bikes program. Basically we just visited the nature center and my fiancé used his driver’s license to get us a rocking pair of green bikes and two helmets. We only had an hour before we had to return them but we were able to bike from the nature center to the end of the trail and back in that time. We had a lot of fun and saw more of the park then we had when we’d gone walking there, plus it was free. Wait, let me type that again: it was free. That’s right we didn’t pay a cent. If you are looking for a fun, free date(or family activity) look no further.
