We went to shop at the Ramadan market today and it has closed down. We tried the phone number and it is disconnected.

Ramadan International Market specializes in Eastern fare — spices, cracked wheat, tea with beautiful designs on the box, rosewater, coconut milk($ 0.99/can), a delicatessen, and an absurdly large selection of giant canisters of fruit drink mix. The store is pretty big, and is definitely a good source of imported Middle Eastern products that you wouldn’t be able to find in the«ethnic» section of Harris Teeter. The few items that had price tags seemed reasonable, and the guy behind the counter was friendly even though it was probably pretty obvious that I was more of a tourist than a serious customer. Ramadan International Market is probably a family-owned business, and is a refreshing change from the American supermarket shopping experience. If you’re interested in immigrant or non-mainstream cultures, or if you’re looking for hard-to-find Eastern foods, this is a cool place to check out.
