Prepare to be gouged: $ 5 parking, $ 14 admission(even, if only eating at the restaurant), 17.5% mandatory service charge on meals with options to leave an additional tip. Well, here’s a tip — stay away from Cheekwood unless you are prepared to be price gouged. The food is mediocre, the chicken salad was served on bread so dry that I thought it had been toasted. The cranberry salad began to melt around the edges. The hostess seating us rolled her eyes when my elderly dinner partner(who is a Cheekwood member) politely corrected her that she had been addressed by the wrong name. As Cheekwood has 55 acres, there should be plenty of room for free parking and the $ 14 admission fee — payable even if only eating at the restaurant) should more than cover parking maintenance. The Pineapple Room restaurant interior is a plain and unexciting as the barnwood exterior. Really, the best they can do is what tastes like day-old bread?! Do yourself and your friends a favor a skip this trap. There are many beautiful homes around Nashville and nicer restaurants, so get in your car a take a drive and look at the beautiful Nashville landscaping and finer dining outside of Cheekwood.

The Pineapple Room is located on the beautiful grounds of Cheekwood. This is the second time we have eaten here and the 3rd time to try and eat here. The 2 times we have eaten here have been great! The time we tried to eat here and didn’t get to, we didn’t realize you have to be a member or pay an admission fee to Cheekwood. The food was delicious and the staff was wonderful! I had the shrimp and grits and the sauce was to die for! I snagged one of my kid’s sweet potato fries and it was amazing! Everyone in our group enjoyed their food. We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed the beautiful spring day while sipping delicious fruit tea. It’s not too sweet… it is perfect!

Love Cheekwood, but the Pineapple Room needs to up its game. Sunday Easter brunch may have been the worst buffet I have ever experienced. Cold and tasteless. I hate giving bad reviews, but I just can’t get over how expensive it was and how absolutely horrible the food tasted. The service was just as bad. Our waitress would never refill our glasses of water after asking several times. Never cleared our plates from the table even after she brought the bill. Even acted annoyed when I asked her one final time for a glass of water and if she could remove my plate from the table. Who wants to look at a dirty plate for 30 minutes after they have finished?! The one star is for the beautiful stroll thru Cheekwood with the amazing Spring tulips in full bloom. That was the saving grace of that awful experience.

A nice place for a brunch, but my wife is a member of Cheekwood, so I can’t verify the troubles others have reported as non-members. The ambiance is nice, with a good view. I actually felt a tad under dressed(Though there doesn’t seem to be an enforced dress code of any kind). Service was a bit meandering. Not slow, but not particularly swift. Of course when we arrived our full party was not there, so it’s possible that we committed the cardinal sin with our server who was going to be «hands off» for the rest of our meal. Everyone present enjoyed their food, and they didn’t rush us off even though we stayed and chatted as a group a bit after we had finished our food. They did add a gratuity to our party, which is the policy. In this day and age such policies seem outmoded, because we certainly didn’t add any ADDITIONAL tip on the bill, because who would do that? Overall even with the few negatives, I would enjoy it. At the very least for the view. Of course if someone tries to charge you $ 45 dollars to park here it’s absolutely not worth it.

It had been a couple of years since I had eaten here, but it seemed a good place to take an out-of-town visitor. I called the day before for a reservation by the window which was set up just as I had requested. We both had one of the several salads and iced tea; all was good and the service was quick. The view out the large windows of the grounds is lovely and adds a lot to the place — raising it above the average tea room level. Keep in mind that you either have to be a member(as I am) or pay a steep admission fee to get in. That is, I think, a change from the past and may be the cause of the many empty tables even though we arrived at noon. If there were a desire to increase business at The Pineapple Room, I am sure that the able minds of the Cheekwood directors and staff could devise a way to allow restaurant guests to come in without being members or paying an admission charge. Perhaps a guest’s food receipt would allow access to the gardens, but not the house. For me, it is a reasonably convenient and interesting place to take a visitor or meet a friend for lunch.

Called to make lunch reservations for a dear friend. Reservations were gleefully taken. Showed up at the gate and the security attendant, think a female boss hog who believes she is the keeper of the precious in lord of the rings, demanded $ 45 to park because we aren’t members. Keep in mind I’ve eaten their before and this has never happened. As in zero times. Finally she called the restaurant, they said send them in, and she told us she’d «let us in this time,» with more attitude than a dutch princess being told to look at the commoners for the first time. We don’t do condescending, old south, power tripping attitude and said thanks we will go elsewhere. Had a great meal at J Alexander’s. This place is worse than Augusta. Avoid if not a member.

The Pineapple Room could be an absolutely amazing lunch experience, with its beautiful location and surroundings. However, it stays right there at that spot– could be. Service was friendly and nice, so nothing to complain about there, but that is pretty much it. I ordered a quiche since I heard that they are famous for them, and decided on one with mushroom, onion and gruyère. I was really excited about this sine I absolutely ADORE gruyère, but I ended up being really disappointed. It was completely tasteless! Like it literally tasted like nothing. Secondly, the quiche was so hot I couldn’t even eat it until it cooled down after five minutes. Something tells me that they have their quiches freezed then to just heat them up excessively, which just makes me even more upset since it is a bit pricey. Next time I visit Cheekwood I’ll probably pack a pick nick instead of eating at The Pineapple Room, since it will be both cheaper and probably tastier. However, if I come back I think I would have a salad instead, since they looked pretty delicious.

Some of the worst quiche I have ever had. Flavorless and overcooked. Hard to cut with a fork. They ran out of the pasta of the day. Almost zero vegetarian options. We had a reservation for a large party and did not get to sit together as they split our group in two. Our server was fine, and I felt bad for her having to work there.

Calling the Pineapple Room is a huge pain. We attempted to call and make a reservation but no one answered. I’ve had some issues in the past with getting a hold of someone when I try to contact them, and they also have limited hours. Luckily we showed up and were seated within 10 minutes. We weren’t down at the bottom where we could enjoy the view, but I’m pretty sure that section is saved for reservations. Also, the patio was closed so we couldn’t sit outside. Bummer. At least we got a seat and didn’t have to wait long! We ordered coffee and I had the tomato basil bisque with the salad trio of pasta, tuna, and chicken with tea sandwiches and crackers. it was SO much food and I couldn’t eat it all. I was sad I couldn’t take the leftovers home! The soup was great too. My friend ordered the chicken and brie sandwich and it was delicious! Very much enjoyed the food. When we got the check they had included a 17% gratuity which is a nuisance and sucks for the servers. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth and made me not want to tip additional funds. She also was hard to find at the end of our meal. Maybe it was just that we weren’t in the better section, but I felt the ambiance was lacking. The restaurant looks up into the gift shop area which I found strange. The table settings were pretty but overall the interior left something to be desired. I’ll have to try to get reservations so I can get the better view next time. Hope they pick up the phone!

We dropped into the Pineapple Room after a long day of volunteer work outdoors. We were starving and they didn’t disappoint. They served a brunch style lunch even during the middle of the week. I enjoyed the mini muffins they served complimentary(I ate 4 but since they were small I only counted it like 1). I ordered the quiche of the day, the tomato soup, and a side salad. The food was fairly good and I enjoyed the view and all the natural sunlight. I definitely felt a little under-dressed among the ladies that brunch but we received excellent service regardless. If you are visiting Cheekwood Gardens don’t feel scared to try the PR. I know it can be frightening to eat at a restaurant at a tourist type location but this is a good standalone place.

we came to cheekwood, not realizing there’s a nice little pineapple room to eat at: sad face:. we stopped in for some mimosas, requesting them to be made with pineapple juice instead of orange, they obliged. the pineapple juice mimosas were good. not like life changing good, but good. they automatically add a 17% gratuity to your bill, which is a bummer for our server, because we normally tip 20%. it’s nice and quiet, white tablecloths, servers in nicely starched shirts. maybe we’ll go back and eat and i can update my review with more info. but as of now, i wish they didn’t automatically add the gratuity, it actually hurts in cases like this.

The food was decent. We ordered off the specials menu and got the potato leek soup, chile rellenos and the swordfish; all were quite delicious. What is preventing more stars for this review is the service. So so sucky. Tacky enough that our server decided to take our order while he was taking the order of the table beside us. But then when our appetizer took too long and we inquired, he said another server had taken what was meant for our table. He put a rush order in and we received it eventually, but we were charged a split-plate fee for something that wasn’t split for us at all. I’m sorry, but I think it’s crap to charge a split-plate fee when you DON’T split the order for the guests. Then, just a few seconds after our appetizer arrived, our entrees were brought out(this at least was split properly, validating the nickel-and-diming split plate fee). When I asked if they could take it back because of THEIR mistiming and hold it in the kitchen, the response was a very sour attitude. I don’t see myself going back here. At least until their servers(a male server, first initial«S», in particular) gets a major attitude adjustment.

In town and took in the Lights exhibit at Cheekwood. Were able to get a seat on the patio for dinner. Great service, very friendly staff. Flatbread was fantastic. We tried 3 of the entrée salads, all great, homemade dressing on each was excellent. Highly recommend for food, ambiance and service

We experienced a nice atmosphere and great service. The food was good too. I had the Harvest Jubilee Salad w/grilled chicken which was very good. We returned later(after another walk) for the Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate Bread Pudding which is VERY delicious(this coming from a new orleans girl). Coffee was very good too. We plan on returning for dinner on a friday night.

Food is as good as the scenery. If your planning a day at Cheekwood you definitely need to stop on by. I wouldn’t go out of my way but I wouldn’t not go to Cheekwood without grabbing lunch there. If you didn’t call ahead expect to wait. Not a lot of room parties of more than 4 or 5 are probably a bad idea. I had a salmon sandwich, girl friend had duck. They were both awesome. Bottom line if you’re in the neighborhood stop in but don’t go out of your way. Also don’t expect to be in and out quickly but it makes for a good meal.

As much as I love Cheekwood and all that it has to offer, this place needs a total rehaul. The food is mediocre and the staff seems to be under stress as I saw what seemed to be their manager literally micro managing every little move. Heck, it made me nervous! The only thing good here is the potato leek soup, but other than that, sweet potato fries are not good, muffins overcooked and dry and the sandwiches are nothing wonderful ATALL. if they had bread and company quality food, I’d definitely dine there more often, but usually after we leave my son’s weekly art class, we drive on by to dine elsewhere. Restaurant name is cute, food is blah. Did I mention when I got the bill there was a 17% service charge on it? It was my son and I. WTF? I didn’t want to argue because the guy seemed clueless, but I assumed that was his tip? Yeah, not cool. If there is going to be a charge, please inform me of what that is. I’m wondering if anyone else got that.

I enjoyed my visit to Cheekwood last May very much. I especially liked Pineapple Room for good Southern food. The shrimp and grits were great. I had never had them before. The service and ambiance were very nice. I was there by myself and was not made to feel out of place.

The Pineapple Room at Cheekwood is a great little place to catch lunch. Most people don’t realize this, but you don’t have to pay admission into the Cheekwood Botanical Gardens to enjoy a meal here. Lucky for those who dine, you’re in for more than just good food, but also an elegantly casual atmosphere with views of the closest garden and lush grounds. Great staff and pretty plating, The Pineapple Room is a quiet little place for girlfriends, taking out the mother-in-law or catching up with your great aunt.

Located inside the Cheekwood Gardens, this tea room is a real treat on an already fun day. Of course you don’t have to go on a tour of the gardens to eat at the Pineapple Room. But, I went with a several friends and we thoroughly enjoyed the gardens. We ate lunch here and it was just delicious. It has typical tea room fare, but it’s a bit more interesting than your ordinary menu. They have a great seafood salad with shrimp and crab meat in a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. I had the chicken spinach salad with strawberries and oranges. It was light and refreshing on a hot summer day. The quiche(chef’s daily creation) was tasty and the shrimp and crab cakes were A#1. Kept sneaking bites off my friend’s plate! The have an extensive sandwich menu — burgers, portabella mushroom sandwich, grilled fish sandwich, chicken salad sandwich, and on an on. We saved no room for dessert, but I was eying the macadamia nut bread pudding. Next time!
