I don’t really get the hype. Brought my family here who are from out of town. They all agreed, this is nothing special. It’s fine for a diner, but people act like it’s amazing. The food is nothing to rave about. Especially for the wait. It’s just generic country cooking.

Absolutely! This hole in the wall diner has amazing food for great prices. Decent portion size(not over the top, so feel free to add more sides.) friendly service, and cute retro booth seating.

Yes, Yes & Yes! This is what we have been looking for in Nashville. This place is just a short drive(or Über ride) from downtown and it is well worth the drive! It is a small place with a bunch of small tables, but as soon as you walk in, you feel like family. The food is so good, but also very cheap! 3 eggs with homefries and toast is only $ 4.00. The eggs were fresh and cooked perfectly both times we came. The homefries are delicious. And the biscuits and gravy? Perfect! Fluffy biscuits and the gravy is to die for! The service was great, all the servers pitch in and help each other out. Near the register, they have a map where you can place a thumbtack to show where you are from. This is place is the best!

Not sure why this place has four stars. I was so disappointed with the cornstarchy gravy and the oven ready biscuits. I feel responsible for suggesting that my friends and I go here for our last meal in Nashville(which had been a culinary delight up until that point). I still feel sick thinking about it. Two stars are for nice customer service and interesting«down home» atmosphere.

Nashville biscuit house is a fantastic meat and three place. Their catfish is exceptional and worth the wait. Also got to tey some chicken fried steak, it was delightful. The service is on point and décor is uninvited.

Oh bad bad bad. I’ll admit I’m a bit of a food snob preferring farm to table over the greasy spoon, but my hubby loves southern diners and Sky Blue had an hour wait so we tried this place. Waited 40 minutes, and watched multiple roaches crawl around the whole time(but hey, I must not be THAT much of a snob because I still stayed). The food is NOT fresh. Canned mushrooms AND canned tomatoes, frozen spinach, etc. Very cheap low quality food. Not worth it at all. I feel dirty and icky having come here. We left without finishing our food. The omlette was unedible. Hands down worst breakfast I’ve ever had. My husband said he feels robbed.

Nashville Biscuit House is a no frills diner located outside of downtown Nashville. By no means is NBH going to win any awards on atmosphere, it’s about as basic as they come however the food here was actually pretty good and the prices were just as reasonable. I went with the Hot Off the Griddle, which was two pancakes(or French Toast) served with 2 eggs, Bacon(or sausage) for only $ 6.95. The table also ordered some of the Chicken Biscuits, and Biscuits & Gravy, while I personally cannot comment on the taste of the biscuit, I can say that they were on the small side so I would recommend ordering two if you are planning on making that your meal. Overall it was a good experience, with no real complaints. Not sure I would return, simply because there are some other options I wish to experience next time I am in Nashville however I would say it was a solid 3.5 experience.

It’s a bit expensive for what you get. The last two times I had a to go order they left things out so make sure to check your bag. Also you can’t pay with a credit card at the drive through which is annoying. That said the food, while not groundbreaking, is pretty good.

For a place with a line into the parking lot every time we drive by it I was expecting substantially more. I had a country ham breakfast sandwich with hash browns. The biscuit(which i errently assumed was their claim to fame) was close to terrible. The bottom half tasted more like a dinner roll and you could taste the east nashville tap water in it. The country ham tasted old and litteraly had a chunk of fat and tendon that was close to a 3rd of the weight of ham. Hasbrowns were avg service was good and friendly. Idk my biscuit sandwich was almost inedible def will never be waiting in line outside for a meal from this place and we live within walking distance

On vacation in Nashvile looking for quality southern breakfast with decent prices, and killer biscuits and Gravy! Read reviews and new this was our place:) no wait friendly laid back casual joint with smiling faces! Biscuits and Gravy were phenomenal! Pancakes were huge but mine were undercooked with some raw dough, not tons of flavor but great texture. Breakfast potatoes were great as well as eggs:) nice big portions, cheap bill, perfect!!!

Great food, great staff! I’m a big fan of the lumberjack, it keeps me full ALL day long! Pancakes, eggs, sausage, grits and a biscuit, that’s what I’m talking about. Most of the staff has been there for years, nice to see all the familiar faces week after week. Give this place a try for sure!

3.5 Let’s get it out of the way: this isn’t haute cuisine. This isn’t even the best southern breakfast food you’ll get in Nashville. And, the biscuits? Well, there’s a place a bit west of town that’ll make you want to holler for some biscuits. The ones here aren’t bad, though. The real shining star of the Nashville Biscuit House is how well they know their audience and the essential rule of real estate: location, location, location. Sitting pretty on Gallatin, NBH is an ‘East Nashville’ automatic. Everything about the experience speaks to the local clientele and helps build its mystique. What may be missing in the kitchen is more than made up for by the genius of the marketing(intended or not). At its core, NBH is an independent Denny’s(Shoney’s? Denny’s… No, definitely Shoney’s). It’s a diner with everything you’d expect for breakfast. It tastes good enough. There are crowds of people so you don’t feel foolish sitting here eating the food. The prices are right(no gouging to be found). And, you’ll want to stay laser-focused on what you’re doing/who you’re eating with… because this isn’t the cleanest of forums(don’t look at the inspection score). But, you’re here to join the zeitgeist, not because you’re looking for grandma’s cooking. Because while this may not be grandma’s cooking, eating too much of it will kill you. For example, I ordered the Nashvillian with two biscuits and sausage gravy. The plate automatically comes with 2 eggs(scrambled with cheese), bacon or sausage(bacon), grits or home fries(home fries), and toast or a biscuit(duh. a biscuit). I don’t know why I ordered another without even eating the first. I don’t know I ordered it with sausage gravy. I just know that these things happened. And, I don’t regret them happening. Rather than orange juice, I upped my sugar content with an Arnold Palmer. I ate it all. I dropped my napkin on the floor. I made myself not pick up up(and look under the table) until I was finished. I’m glad I had the experience. I can wait a while to have it again.

Huge portions friendly staff you have no idea your in the middle of Nashville when you eat here. We had breakfast with little bit of everything. The food was nothing over the top special but hit that comforting breakfast spot for just little money. I told my husband that if we livd in Nashville we would be regulars here you just can’t beat the bang for your buck!

Perfect example of the average consumer not really knowing good food/value. Is it bad, by all means no. Is it great(4+ stars), definitely not! If this wasn’t a little hole in the wall shack in East, people wouldn’t give it such a great review. People think a restaurant that looks like this must be good. I had the Nashvillian… two cheese eggs, 3 strips of bacon, a tiny side of grits, a burnt biscuit, 2 large plain pancakes… for $ 10. That sounds like a lot of food, and it is, but for $ 10??? I promise you, that’s it’s worth $ 10. I am in the food business. Eggs were great, so was the bacon. Grits were bad. Pancakes were lifeless. And biscuit was nothing great. The grits, biscuit and pancakes were very bland. I might sound like a homer but Shoney’s $ 5 All Star Breakfast blows this out of the water… trust me. Problem is Shoneys doesn’t alway execute it correctly, but when they do, the All Star Breakfast is better.

This is a no fuss country breakfast restaurant. This is one of the few places in Nashville that has vegetarian Gravy! And also a drive-thru!!! Yes, a breakfast drive-thru! All in all its pretty standard biscuits gravy, eggs, eggs sandwich, pancakes, and potatoes. They also offer turkey sausage and bacon in case you aren’t down with the swine. They also have a lunch menu, and claim home made desserts. You can have a huge breakfast for under 10 $ in the heart of East Nashville, is a good damn deal.

Saturday May 2nd, 2015, Tony and I wanted something different for breakfast instead of the normal«mickey d’s sausage biscuit» via the drive thru. so I thought… Hummmm… I have been wanting to check out this Nashville Vintage Establishment… so we fought 9:30 traffic from Antioch area to East Nashville to get some breakfast… or brunch. whatever you want to call it. by the time we got there and got seated it was closer to 10am so I guess Brunch by default. Tony ordered a «Homefries Bowl» with home fries, cheese, sausage gravy and scrambled eggs and coffee and I went for ½ order of sausage gravy and biscuit with fried egg on the side over easy”…with a soda… the entire price was $ 14 plus taxes so I left a $ 4 tip when we were done. as busy as this joint was… we figured the food was going to be «OUTOFTHISWORLD»…but well, it was JUSTOKAY!!! Nothing close to my own, which is my grandmother’s recipe. Price was great!!! Service was fast and friendly! But the food was not the best, but it was good !!!

Oh my goodness Nashvillians! If you are looking for a legit old school breakfast spot, The Nashville Biscuit House is for you. We arrived at what I would consider to be peak weekend brunch time, so we did have to wait a bit, but it went fast and was totally worth it. In fact, I’m a believer that you know you’ve found a great spot when there’s a line at both entrances(but go up front to leave your name). The one good thing about the wait was that I had plenty of time to look over the menu to decide what to order. The problem was that very single item sounded amazing, so I went through just about every single breakfast combo, breakfast bowl, and we even considered doing a la cart to get a bit of everything. By the time we were seated, I was still a bit overwhelmed, so when the waitress popped by, I just went for the Homefry Bowl with everything and cheese piled in. I added the famous sausage gravy and a biscuit on the side. Oh. And a blueberry pancake on the side. So yeah, it was quite a bit of food, but we were able to tackle quite most if it. The Homefry bowl was indeed packed full of potatoes on the bottom, so I wasn’t able to finish it all, but I promise I made a valiant effort. So if you’re super hungry, that bowl is for you! Everything really impressed. I absolutely suggest ordering shredded cheese with the sausage gravy; it melts in such a perfect way that I promise you Unilocal, you will not be disappointed. Also, no matter what– you simply must order a biscuit. It was amazingly fluffy, light and super tasty. I can see why folks are lining up to get some of these!

Maybe it’s ’cause I just had dental work done that I’m especially partial to them there biscuits, but I tell you they’re softer than a baby’s behind, fluffier than fluffy and stupendously delicious. I literally slapped my own mama. Super sweet servers settle you in with prompt, easy down-home service. Ordered the Nashvillian with scrambled eggs, ham and grits. It came out super fast ‘n hot and a clean and happy plate was had by me shortly thereafter. The atmosphere is just what I love and miss about the South. If you didn’t know any better(bless your heart), you’d swear the exterior looked awful suspect. But don’t let that or the wood paneling on the inside fool you – this spot will fix your hungry self up just right!

I had heard about this place from someone who lives in the area who sang high praises. I passed a few days ago and saw that they have a drive thru which sold it for me. Hit up the drive thru this morning. You ring the bell and wait. I didn’t see a menu while waiting and didn’t know if the person working the window would give me one, so I quickly pulled up the menu on their website. The employee who took my order was polite in letting me know he would be with me when he could and while taking my order. I ordered the Nashvillian. And a couple of extra biscuits because the place had biscuit in their name and I had high hopes. The Nashvillian is two eggs, choice of bacon, sausage, or ham, choice of grits or home fries, and a choice of biscuit or toast. All of that for five bucks and change. I added a large orange juice to my meal and it still only had my total at $ 8.69. Score! When receiving my food I asked for ketchup and he said it was already in the bag. I got home and was pleased to see the food was packaged nicely and there was ketchup AND jelly. The biscuits weren’t hot, but everything else was. The eggs were great, the bacon just how I liked it. The home fries were yummy because they’re potatoes but I would have liked more seasoning or any seasoning really. The biscuits were fantastic. A lot better than mine and most places around town. I would totally come back, whether to dine in or hit up the drive thru. I love divey places and was not disappointed.
