Service may not always be this bad but it was last night. When we got to the restaurant there was a line of people who were unable to put their name on any sort of wait list. When we finally got our name on the list there were tables that weren’t bussed quick enough to sit customers. I asked the mgr/hostess if we can have a cleared table and pointed it out. He agreed and walked to the back and made Margaritas instead of seating us so I just did it myself. Drinks and food order seemed to take forever to place and when I got my margarita pitcher it was 90% ice. During our meal/drinks we bussed our own table by moving our stuff to the other unbussed tables around us to make room.

There’s so much potential but the quality of food and service is lacking. The menu is fantastic and well balanced, and the décor is comfortable with maybe just a touch too much lighting. Sadly each visit something tastes a day old and/or is cold and tasteless. On the last visit the Mexi Tots didn’t even taste like potatoes and the food came out at different times.

My coworker raves about this place ! My mind was set on tacos & I knew I wanted to try something different. We drove around east Nashville & I pulled up my trusty Unilocal app :) local taco was nearby. The entrance is a little weird. It’s located in a boutique strip. We saw the sign for the place but had to walk down the pathway to get there hoping we were walking into the right place lol . We weren’t necessarily greeted in a timely fashion. My friend & I stood there like … Hmmm ok do we seat ourselves? Do we wait to be greeted… We stood there for about 5 minutes before the guy came from around the counter. He handed us a menu to look at. Again, I wasn’t sure when he was going to seat us. We looked over the menu, we chose the taco basket. It comes with two tacos & a side item. I got the southern fried & shrimp taco(hold the slaw !). My friend ordered the tequila lime tacos & collard greens . We told the guy our order. We stood there for S minute or so again. I looked around & there was plenty of seats ! I asked him where could we sit & he replied anywhere. Hmmm ok . The food didn’t take long to come out. I enjoyed my shrimp taco & Mexican corn. Loved the spicy sauce. There was coleslaw on the taco which I asked for it to come without. I picked it off with my fork& kept eating ! The southern fried had more crispy skin then actual chicken. My friend loved his food, he couldn’t stop talking about the spicy greens. My first experience threw me off. We decided to give it another chance. The second time was great. No slaw on my taco. The service was still a little off… not understanding the disconnect when people walk in the door they should be greeted! Overall I give local taco 4 stars. The house margarita on my last visit won me over.

Definitely a hipster bar, that serves taco platters. I really liked the atmosphere and lay out of the location, but did not care for either tacos I ordered… had the brisket and pulled pork. The mac-n-cheese as a side was pretty good though. But not enough to bring me back. There niche certainly is an acquired taste… hopefully they will grab yours.

Horrible service. The bartender was rude and unapreciative of our business. I imagine the food would have been tasty had it been hot. Bad vibes and horrible service at the bar. I suggest having a booth or table and hope you receive a friendly and attentive server.

If you like soggy tacos, then this is the place for you! They’ve got to find a way to drain the meat. My tacos were drenched when I got them, and by the time my first one was gone the second one was so wet I couldn’t even hold it. The avocado taco tasted like mayo… that’s about the only flavor there was to it. The Korean BBQ taco was so grisly I couldn’t chew my first 2 bites and had to spit it out. The Guacamole really had no flavor and lacked salt and spice… the queso was boring, again lacking a bit of spice, it doesn’t have to be a lot of spice, as I understand not everyone likes it spicy, but just a hint of spice would make it taste… I dono, like queso? I felt rushed by our server, I strongly dislike when I am asked if I’m ready to order my food before I’ve even had a chance to touch the appetizer you just sat down on my table… I won’t be back.

The avocado tacos, not fried, are some of the best tacos I have had. They are super fresh. The guacamole was really good too. The Korean BBQ taco was just okay. Yes they definitely need better signage to their entrance and the restrooms. The restrooms are outside the restaurant. The service was good but our actual server was meh. My husband ordered a Bloody Mary($ 3 on Saturday) and asked for extra spicy. When we received the check he was charged for $ 5. When asked, he was told this how they charge the extra spicy. The server could have mentioned this when ordering rather than a surprise on the check. It was a lame move. Overall, the avocado tacos were the saving grace and quite filling during our«Small Business Saturday» shopping.

Since moving to Nashville 3 months ago, my girlfriend and I have been looking for a place to get breakfast tacos. We were very impressed by the ambiance and the friendliness of our server. There is a large patio that would be great for a group of people to hang out and have drinks. We went on a Saturday around 11 and there was no wait to get a table. Waiting stinks! We ordered off of the brunch menu, which had 6 – 7 different breakfast taco options. We each ordered two tacos and were very satisfied with the taste, quantity and price($ 3.75 each). To boot, we ordered guac because for only $ 4, we got a mound of guacamole and an overflowing basket of freshly cooked chips. TLDR: awesome breakfast tacos for an awesome price. We will be going back for more. rumor has it that the margaritas are fantastic as well.

A few friends recommended this place but I’m totally not impressed with this place at all. There was a long wait for my food. The tortillas were flour instead of corn. Yuck. The food was mediocre at best and were filled with more filler items than protein. The shrimp taco was ok. Overall, I was disappointed and I have learned to never stray away from Mas Tacos again!

I’ve been to this location 4 times, twice to dine in and twice to pick food up. I love the setup and when it’s nice enough out(re: not a scorching summer day) I prefer sitting out on the open patio. Margaritas taste fresh and not made from a cheap mix, which is a nice change of pace from most Mexican restaurants. We love the food! I have had the fish, shrimp, and fried avocado tacos, the fried mac & cheese, the street corn, and different salsas with the chips. Everything has been consistently awesome for us. Mine and my husband’s favorite is the fried avocado taco with added boom boom sauce. He doesn’t even really like avocado and he thinks it it awesome. The fish taco was my least favorite(this is usually my favorite food, period) but it was still good. I prefer grilled or lightly panko breaded and this was battered fish. The fried mac & cheese is so good and comes with a little cup of queso and a little cup of green chili sauce. Friendly servers and reasonably priced for the quality of food.

the entrance was a bit weird. no one greeted me and then asked if i needed something. .not if they could help me find a seat. i ordered the one of their top salads and was marked GF(Gluten Free) but when I told them that I needed it GF and to ensure their was no dairy, they all seemed confused. Thankfully another waitress stepped in and told them that I couldn’t have the dressing. My first salad came out work(cheese all over the top even though that isn’t on the menu), but they were quick to correct it. The issue with the corrected salad is that they gave me a half portion of lettuce. This place is fine if you don’t have other options or if you want a Mexican dinner that is light tasting, but the hospitality and knowledge is lacking with the staff. (also I came around 8pm and there was barely anyone there)

A regrettable $ 19 spent. I agree with more recent reviewers on this place not deserving its 4 star mark. The service was pretty much non-existent. In fact, it would have been better as a ‘serve-yourself’ type of place. You order inside, then someone brings your order to your table. In my case, the food came before the water and my drink — whilst being stormed by flies sitting outside. I had to ask the waitress for hot sauce. Then when she came back napkins. I didn’t realize there was no silverware so attempted to eat my corn with my hands(didn’t want to get back up to go inside to get a fork, leaving the flies to my food). The waitress never came back to check on me. The food was barely mediocre-the tacos being completely dry and the lettuce of questionable freshness. Overall a regrettable sum of money for what I got. Won’t be back.

So I’ve been here twice now and the first time was awesome. Great service. Sat at the bar– was left alone to read which is nice because some bar tenders really don’t pick up on that or want tips for being chatty. The food is good. The Korean bbq tacos are delish. The second time I went in at lunch. The hostess was on the phone and completely ignored me. There was no one else to ask so I quietly said«should I seat myself?». Nodded without looking at me. I sat down and waited for about 15 min until someone else came in and ordered at the front. Wtf? I feel like the hostess ideally should be present with the person in front of them? Maybe someone else could get the phone? I’m not terribly impatient but I feel like that sucked. Going to try them again and see if it was just an off moment.

Local taco in Brentwood or Sylvan Park are delicious, so I was so excited to see one move in close to us on the east side. However, this location has not been consistent with my experiences at the others. Out of four visits since it’s opened, I would say The last two visits were not good and it will probably be a while until we return unless it’s just for a margarita on the patio. The drinks and chips and salsa are always good, but the tacos always seem to disappoint and I would say I’ve tried at least five different ones. They lack freshness and seem like they were pre made or sitting for a bit before sent to the table. Hoping these experiences were just a fluke for a new restaurant getting on its feet because I’ve had some really great food at the others!

This a review for take out. We got the brisket enchiladas & three tacos; fish, brisket and Korean. The tacos were delicious! The enchiladas were below average… and well since its called Local Taco and not Local Enchilada it stands to reason. The service & the attitude of the servers was meh. I arrived five minutes after I was told my order would be ready & I was sent to the bar to wait. After awhile the bartender sullenly asked me what I wanted & then went to get my order & slapped the check down on the bar in front of me without another word. It was very slow in the restaurant so I don’t know why he was so bitter but the service makes me not want to return for the sit down experience.

Not sure why this place is so well reviewed. At first, I was pleased with the welcoming décor and open air on a nice spring night, though many of their vintage rolling desk chairs are uncomfortable and rickety. The skinny margarita was good and decently priced, but they forgot to salt the rim. The skinny margarita here is a classic margarita: tequila, fresh lime, and agave nectar. This was the only win. The chips and queso were fine, well portioned and met expectations but nothing special. The tacos, though, were so disappointing, uninspired and bland. The grilled steak with horseradish crema was a huge miss. The steak was cold and seemed like it had been sitting for hours. Overall, the flavors just didn’t make sense. Their signature«bang bang» sauce was a vinegary excuse for a habanero add on to my spicy shrimp taco, which consisted of four tiny, fried popcorn shrimp. All of this mediocrity was rounded out by a MIA, space cadet server, who ultimately rounded down the score from an average 3 to a below average 2. Can’t see why I’d rush back, other than for a margarita on the porch.

The food at Local Taco was a bright spot in my recent trip to Nashville. The service had some issues, but they were pretty busy, and I’ve only been there once, so I can’t really ding them for that. Issues included getting an extra ear of corn that hadn’t been ordered(they took it back and I don’t think we were charged), flour tortillas instead of the requested corn, and just plain slow service. The bright spots of the service were friendly demeanor, and that they were willing to split our check for us. They have a great variety of tacos on the menu — I was really craving chicken so I went with 3 chicken. My 3 companions tried almost every variety in total. I had a bite of the Korean inspired, it was delicious. Because I prefer my tacos to free of dairy products I tend to rely on either salsa or well seasoned meat to get great flavor. These met that requirement well! We split a pitcher of margaritas, which allowed each of us one margarita plus a little bit of refill for the faster drinkers. They were tasty, but pretty darn sweet. If I go again(I live across the country) I’d request less sweetener. It can be pretty crowded inside. We were able to get an easily wheelchair accessible table, but I could see it being difficult to ever access the outdoor seating unless it was super dead inside(no architectural barriers from what I saw, just furniture & bodies in the way). I didn’t make it to the restroom to check out access there. Along one wall there are booths for those who prefer booths over tables.

After spending many nights at the Sylvan Park Local Taco location, I finally made it to the East side location last night — it’s even better! Bigger menu, more seating, better atmosphere than the Sylvan Park location(which, by the way, I do not have a problem with. It is just down the street from my office after all…). Can’t beat their margaritas — especially at $ 4 during their weeknight happy hours. I love the enchiladas. In fact, their tacos don’t really do it for me. But the enchilada or quesadilla is sure to fill you up and make you happy! Love their guacamole. Love their queso, Love their salsas. Just go ahead and get the trio sampler, it’s delicious.

Go to the East Nashville Local Taco. Order any taco on the menu. Love it. Order any cocktail. Love it. Smile. Eat tacos. And fried mac and cheese. Drink. Smile. That’s the local taco.

Shortly after the new Fatherland location opened up, a couple girlfriends and I stopped by after a nice East Nasty run. We figured, hey, a 5K totally would compensate for baskets of chips, guac and tacos right? And so it began. We got the trio of sauces that included this black bean corn mix, salsa, and salsa verde. Loved the black bean mix, although you don’t get very much. The taco selection was quite extensive including Korean rib tacos, which I ordered. I was disappointed as I felt for almost $ 4, they should of had more filling. Alongside with my taco, I ordered the Southwest salad with chicken. It was fantastic! Beautifully put together and a sizable portion(~$ 9). Service wise, I thought they did a great job. I would give them 5 stars for that! Our waitress was very sweet. Overall, I felt the food was O-K, but the atmosphere was a winner. They had a patio that was in the works when we were there, but I can’t wait for summer months + beer. Local Taco is located on Fatherland next to Mater of Taste and a juice shop. Very cute area. Oh yeah, they don’t have bathrooms inside the place. You have to use the ones right outside that is shared with the local shopping area. Which is not a big deal at all, but just a FYI.
