The food — except for the salsa — was good, but there was something very wrong with the service. My sister got her lunch at least 20 minutes prior to mine arriving. When I was able to catch the server’s eye, I asked her if there was something wrong with my order. She said it was being prepared still — it was 1 pupusas. I would try the place again if I was in the area, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat there again.

Walking in its half deli half Restaurante. The ambience is very Central American and I mean even the long table styles. The waitress was nice and to the point. You can see the cook from 90% of the tables and the the bars on the windows in front of the store behind the window make you feel right in East LA. It’s actually cool. Lol The customers are very diverse and the place seems clean. The bathroom: as you’re about to walk in you see the shoe stains on the wall and door and expect a real disaster as you open the door but no– again actually very well kept and enough modern to wash your hands in peace. Staff: girls in the deli are way into their electronics but the waitress was very nice. Food: excellent. Hot. Tasty and tastes like Americanized Mexican food should taste like: Mexican food. Recommend: yes. Would I come back: absolutely.

Just had huevos rancheros. Plate was properly burning hot. HRs were fantastic. Also had a papusa revuelta on the side. Even the«café negro sin azucar» was strong and hot. I can’t believe it, this was the best breakfast I ever had in Nashville! Everything was perfect. Came back at 5pm on weeknight for enchiladas verdes de pollo and the chicken was very dry, leftover from lunch. Came back on Saturday night for more enchiladas and plate wasn’t very hot and neither were the enchiladas, although rice and beans were hot enough. This place is inconsistent so I drop rating to 3 from 5 stars.

I must admit when we first got here we didn’t even know for sure if it was a restaurant but based on all the other Unilocal reviews we went on inside. It seems very authentic, almost too authentic. The chips were good, salsa decent. My fajitas were excellent. The salsa is sub par, edible(and I ate my share as usual lol) but I’ve had better salsa. Not meaning to sound so negative because the chicken seemed grade A to me. The young one(11 year old Davin) loved his qezadilla. My Fiancé even loved hers and she’s picky. Shi the just turned 8 year old ordered a qezadilla as well but refused to try it lol her vote doesn’t count. Altogether it’s definitely 4 star. If the salsa was better I could go 5 but come on people that are giving it a 5 this is really not a 5 star restaurant simply because of the ambience, environment, atmosphere whatever! If the restaurant was not part of a Mexican grocery store and the salsa was better this place could truly be a 5 star! Just try it!

If you haven’t noticed, I review a lot of Mexican restaurants. It’s an addiction but you can thank me because I know what I’m talking about. As I was perusing Unilocal reviews for a good spot, I was encouraged by the fact that Las Americas shares its space with a grocery store. Most ethnic restaurants that do that, in my experience, are amazing. Firstly, I drove a bit out of my way to get here — the opposite direction of my hotel — and then I got caught up in a nasty traffic jam to boot. A couple of times, I considered finding something within a bit more in proximity but I am so glad I stayed the course because this place proved to be worth the effort. I ordered the chicken Enchiladas Las Americas and they might have been the most flavorful I’ve ever had. They had a definite but delightful«kick» to them and everything tasted fresh and cooked to perfection. The night I was there, they had a fair amount of business but didn’t seem busy. I felt as if my order took a bit long but if you factor in two guys in the kitchen and one person waiting and busing tables, it doesn’t take much for them to get a little backed up. Again, it was well worth the wait and the service was good. Other reviews recommend you not let the looks of this place deter you and they are correct; if you appreciate an authentic and remarkable Mexican dining experience, this is it.

Some places you try, return a few times, and then forget about. NOT so with Las Americas. Even years away from this place I craved it when recollecting my fave spots in Nashvegas to my Brazilian GF. Now on our road trip we return, her maiden voyage, and it’s even better than I remembered!!! Putting this on my list of death row meal possibilities! :)

Really really good food. Guacamole is chunky and has a spicy zing. Pupusas are yummy, Carne Asada tacos are the bomb, and ceviche tostadas are super fresh!

It’s our neighborhood papuseria and taco spot. It’s also head and shoulders above the other 25 restaurants and trucks we’ve tried in the area. If you visit from Brentwood, Belmont, Vandy, or hipster land please come on the weekend when I’m home grilling. You will be glad you made the trip. Try the papusa mixta, all the tacos, burrito las americas, or the mole when they have it.

The most flavorful enchiladas and burritos in town~!!! I drive past at least a dozen closer Mexican restaurants to get to Las Americas and it’s more than worth the effort. I’m fond of the enchiladas de crema chipotle with chicken but you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. SO good~!

Best pupusas EVER! Always make time to stop here. Great homade hot sauces. Save room for the guac and enchiladas verdes!

Las Americas has been a family favorite for about 10 years now. Their posole and pupusas are on point, top it off with a glass of horchata for good measure. Parking can be a pain sometimes but don’t let it deter you from checking this place out.

I’ve been searching for good Mexican/Central American food in Nashville for a while… I should have gone down to Nolensville Pike sooner! The restaurant is attached to a market and it looks a bit small from the outside. Other reviewers have noted the steep parking lot and that can be a bit dangerous in wintertime when ice builds up. But enough about that. The food: affordable and delicious. Dinner portions are large. The tacos are small — as they should be. My personal favorite is the«pupusa mixta.» The restaurant is excellent. The food speaks for itself and there’s not much else to say. Atmosphere: casual.

Food: The best authentic Mexican food I’ve had in Tennessee. Everything is fresh. EATTHEPUPUSAS! Location: Off Nolensville, up on a little steep hill. If you’ve never been here before, don’t be turned off by the look of the place. It’s half grocery/market, and half restaurant. Parking CAN be kinda sketchy since it’s a small lot on a steep incline.

4.5 Come here ready to eat and come prepared to come alone. While Las Americas may not have a ton of reviews on Unilocal, the local community is very aware of how fantastic the food here is… and that means crowds. The parking lot is a bit harrowing(steep, backs up on to Nolensville, tight spots), but once you successfully navigate it, the hardest part of your visit is out of the way. Don’t make the mistake many first-timers make and walk into the store. Look for the tables and walk in to the restaurant. I came on a Sunday afternoon and it was standing room only. After a few minutes of looking at semi-full tables of families, friends and singles, I eventually relented to sit at the bar. I’m glad I did. Ten minutes later, there was a line of hungry folks at the door, glowering at people who weren’t sitting at tables packed to capacity. I was happy to not be taking up more space than needed. I walked in not feeling 100%(had a ROUGH night downtown the night before), so I thought I was going to go for a bowl of pozole and keep it moving. After all, it’s a tried & true hangover cure. But once I caught a whiff of a papusa, I knew what I must do… and hope that solid food had the same curative properties of soup. In my semi-decent Spanish(the waitresses are bilingual but you get your order across quicker and more succinctly in Spanish), I ordered a bean & cheese papusa, tamarind agua fresca and a combo burrito with chicken. The papusa was as good as I smelled and read about. It was thick, substantial, tasted great on its own, filled with delicious cheese & beans, topped with fresh, crunchy cabbage, and came adorned with wonderfully spicy sauce. I almost never turn down an agua fresca and this tamarindo was no exception. The glass must have been 32 oz. It was one of those huge red Pizza Hut cups you might remember from your youth. By the time my gigantic(seriously, very very large) burrito came out, screaming hot and sizzling with cheese(almost like a chimichanga), I knew that I had chosen wisely. The kicker(in addition to fresh chicken, hand-made tortilla(I could watch the kitchen making everything to order) and cool veggies, was the bowl of fresh-sliced avocado that came with the burrito. In moving to Nashville from Miami, I knew I was trading in Caribbean/South American fare for Central & North American cuisine but this was the first time since moving, I really grasped what this meant. This is authentic, real-deal, incredibly delicious, and affordable food. If you eve *think* you like food from this region, make a bee-line and gets ta eatin’.

It’s good. And filling. We had 12 tacos, one pupusa, warm chips and salsa, beer, and fresh mango juice for 27 $. Good, quick, hot. Usually my hubby is not full after 6 tacos. This time he was. Tender beef, tasty pork. Owner very nice and so was the waitress.

Best authentic tacos and pupusas that we’ve found in Nashville. No other place is even close. Relaxed atmosphere and great prices. Don’t pass this place by.

I love the fact that the kitchen is full of «Abuelas» cooking away! Be careful w the home made hot sauces. I had a drop on my finger and couldn’t stop coughing and couldn’t breathe! The waitress said the have a hotter one! I had some regular hot sauce just to cool down!

Everything is so good, but I love the beef tostadas. The tacos are also really good as are the burritos. My mouth is watering thinking about a big plate of food right now. After a few visits, the green sauce chicken burrito is my new favorite dish and is plenty of food to fill you up alongside a Modelo or Tecate.

PUPUSAS. Come for the pupusas, leave a changed person. They’re cheap, delicious, and the staff are so friendly. That is all.

Excellente! This was my first papusa so I came in green. After our visit a friend who lived in South America assured me that they are legit! She did, however, say that they are larger than your average papusa. The restaurant and market is set back off of Nolensville Road. We grabbed a spot in the lot and entered on the restaurant side. The atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable. The place was about half full and they had two TVs that were playing a telenovela. As soon as we entered we were greeted by a staff member and told to grab a seat wherever. Our waitress came over almost immediately to grab our drink order. She primarily spoke Spanish so it was a perfect chance for me to practice! We ordered two beers and two waters. Once our beers came we put in our food order; 1 mixta, 3 tacos, 1 bean papusa, and a side of rice. Our meal came to a total of $ 17. It was glorious! I’m slowly working my way down Nolensville road but I feel pretty confident in saying that this place will be one of my favorites!
