If you are seeking a more authentic Mexican cuisine experience, you will find some nice options at La Hacienda. It was great to find tacos de lengua(tongue) as well as birria(goat)(served weekends only). Also, many Mexican restaurants serve Negra Modelo(the brown beer version of Corona), but it’s harder to find Bohemia, a step-up in the brown beer category. They have that here! On the table you will find two squeeze bottles of house-made salsas, one rojo(red) and the other tomatillo(green tomato). Both had great flavor, including fresh lime juice. Neither contained any heat, however… ask for the«salsa del casa,» and you will receive volcanic house-made habanero sauce. I recommend putting both on your tacos. The salsa and chips provided were above-standard, with warm, white corn chips and salsa that had a fresher than typical flavor. The lengua taco was very flavorful and served in an authentic«street style» with the smaller, double corn tortillas, cilantro and raw onion. The carne asada(steak) and the pollo were also very flavorful. This was our first time, and so we waded-in, trying to get a sense of their quality. After reading another review, regarding not hot fajita platter, I would suspect that could be a true experience. I think that, as many modern restaurants seem to do, they have all their food in bins, in the back, and do a cursory job of plating and serving. Also, another reviewer commented about the service being«semi-rude.» I could see that, as well. The young-ish girl who waited on us seemed to project an air of inconvenience toward us, but in the end, we received our food correctly, and in a timely manner, and I don’t need to be friends with everyone, so I just ignored her. It all comes out in the end, on the tip line. I will have to check out El Palenque. Thanks, Barbie D. :-) Sorry to hear about your food poisoning, Jeremy B. I think we may re-think our return.(I hadn’t read these reviews, prior to going!)

This place is really gross. I don’t understand all the high reviews. I just ate there & found a piece of PLASTIC in my salsa. I’ve gotten food from here twice & both times, the good quality was questionable & staff semi-rude. I’m a native Nashvillian & grew up going to El Palenque, which has a worse review than this place! And that’s crazy because El Palenque is amazing.

I hope it was just me who got poisoned, but I’m warning to check the food before you eat it. 2 hours after eating the pollo poblano I was left sitting on the toilet with a trash can in my lap. That’s right, I got an amazing case of food poisoning. I haven’t been able to hold anything down now for almost 12 hours. The only way I can keep from being in pain is laying on my back and not moving. I’m sure it’s a great place, but I’m never going back to this place.

I believe I’ve found my new favorite Mexican-American restaurant in Nashville. The fact that my wife and I have been there 6 times over the last 2 months is proof of our enjoyment. I’ve been working my way through the pollo platters, and I’ve not found a bad one yet. The best dish I’ve had is the Don Carlos Special. It’s spicy with grilled vegetables and chicken. So good!

La Hacienda used to be good when I moved to Nashville several years ago, but something has happened. We came on a Saturday night and there were only three other people in the restaurant. My burrito didn’t taste good or fresh and it was a little cooler than room temperature. As I was eating, the food started to taste less and less fresh, so I left more than half. I don’t think I’ll ever be back — That’s unfortunate because I used to love the place.

Having been away from Nashville for a couple of years on a work assignment, I found it hard to get my bearings when I moved back here. So many changes! It was great to catch up with a couple of friends at La Hacienda for lunch the other day. The chips were fresh and the salsa was just right — not too spicy. My burrito from the lunch menu was really yummy. Our server, Veronica, was friendly and efficient. Definitely going to try the new places in town, but good to know at least one of my old faves is still as good as ever.

We eat out about twice a week, due to hectic schedules, and this was the worst meal I have had in months. I ordered the shrimp fajitas, and my guest ordered the tamales verde. The tamales were in flour and not corn tortillas or husks, and were hard. I took a bite and it was totally bland. It tasted more like tortilla than chicken or sauce… and it was the better of the two dishes. My fajitas showed up with almost no sizzle. The food was lukewarm. I ate a serving, but sent it back. The waitress had the manager take it back, and in under TWOMINUTES it was back at the table from that point. Hot skillet, same lukewarm food. I called the manager over, and explained about her tamales.(She had one left.) He interrupted me to tell me that she had finished them. I responded that I had also eaten, because we were hungry. He then informed me that it was«impossible» for my food to be cold, because he had seen it put back on the grill. I asked him if he could cook fajitas in two minutes, and he said it was impossible. Terrible experience, and we will not he returning. Cold food and a VERY rude manager. Happy Valentines Day.

It took a few minutes to be acknowledged and seated, however, our server was very kind and apologetic for the wait. The menu offers a lot of options. I loved the enchilada plate. Both the red and green sauces are delicious! The margarita was made with a standard, store-bought mix so not very authentic which was a bit disappointing. As we were paying at the front counter, the older woman working the register took a very long time to operate the machine and didn’t speak a word to us or thank us for coming in.

When I lived down the street from this place I came at least 2 – 3 times a week. The food is phenomenal and always made to order. Food is always fresh and service is always incredible ! I always order the tacos de carne Asada. Love it’s simplicity but it’s packed with flavor and always filling.

Ok so this was my first time here. I had a gordita with chorizo. It was a nice size but… there was very little chorizo and the bread was thick and had little lettuce. The waitress was nice and smiled but it seemed fake. So he food was just ok. I won’t go back again. I always expect a fair amount of meat if the dish is supposed to have meat and not to have it almost skipped. I was slow so 4:30 in a Saturday… there was no reason not to have adequate meat on a gordita. The food was hot but lacking in the main ingredient, which was why I ordered it. 1. Under my table was dirty with dried crumbled dirt. 2. The waitress came to my table twice, to drop off food and bring a second drink. She never asked me how meal was. 3. She didn’t offer me dessert. When I went to pay, the old lady with glasses that took my money didn’t ask me how my food was, didn’t smile and while taking my money was talking past me to a employee that worked there … JUSTRUDE!!! I will NOT go back and recommend friends not to as well. TERRIBLESERVICE ok food And I still left a tip! $ 2 on a $ 9.80 check.

This wasn’t our first choice for lunch but it had a good reputation and we were on a limited time frame to eat. The area where the restaurant is located isn’t that great, it’s not trendy, scenic, etc. We were seated right away. The server was attentive and efficient. This is your basic Tex-Mex restaurant(three pages of options, numerous combination plates). I had the chorizo torta. It was authentic Mexican chorizo(that means it was really greasy) and it was flavorful. The chips and salsa were pretty good too. Noting the area the restaurant is located(see beginning of review) this translated to a very reasonable lunch. The food was good, the restaurant had a nice vibe(although the TV was playing a Dish TV infomercial the whole time). It’s worth checking out if you’re in the area.

This place must have been renamed, because it only has 1 Unilocal review now. Weird. All you need to know is that the POTUS ate here on his visit. It’s some of the best Mexican you can get anywhere in Nashville. Has become one of my favorite spots. Never leave disappointed.

The tacos are amazing and the beef enchiladas melt in your mouth, if go here twice a week, it’s that good. Fresh guacamole, salsa, and the sour cream, I could just eat that alone.

Tremendous Mexican food! It is authentic, well-cooked, fresh, and genuine! I got to-go, and there was plenty of salsa to go with my chorizo, al pastor, and carne asada tacos. They also give you plenty of chips and salsa! I can see why many people want to come down here.

This place rivals El Jaliciense in Inglewood for authenticity in local Mexican restaurants. La Hacienda Taqueria makes its own tortillas and(here’s where the points for authenticity come in) serves menudo y posole on weekends and serves meat entrees in a molcajete(stone mortar and pestle) with cactus on its regular menu. The only thing that is missing is a great mole(chocolate sauce that tastes awesome with chicken and other meats). I also love this place for its huge 60 oz. margaritas and 2-for-1 specials(10 and 16 oz.) on Mon-Thurs. I will say, though, that I wish the sopapillas were truly of the Mexican and Central American style– fluffy quick breads with an airy pocket. Here at La Hacienda and many other Nashville Mexican restaurants, the sopapillas resemble more of a simple fried tortilla topped with honey and cream(in the style of tortas fritas, which are more South American than Mexican). This is a huge disappointment if you’re used to the fluffy, warm deliciousness of a sopapilla back in AZ. Sadly, the only place in Nashville I have seen so far with this style of sopapilla is at the otherwise touristy Chuy’s. By the way, if the thought of menudo scares you(it’s a spicy soup with tripe), I swear nothing is better for a hangover. So, come to La Hacienda for the 60 oz. margarita and return the next morning for the traditional menudo hangover cure.

This is why I love Nashville! With 1.6 million people in the metro area, it’s big enough to have lots of cultural experiences and amazing restaurants, yet not big enough to have«big city» problems. La Hacienda is one of these restaurants that makes Nashville what it is! Their chicken tamales have the perfect texture and flavor. Their enchiladas are so perfectly crafted they remind me of my favorite Mexican eateries in Los Angeles(and that’s saying something). I’ve never had the tacos, but what I’ve eaten at La Hacienda is always perfect!!! Outside of Mas Tacos Por Favor, this is the best Mexican food you can get in this town!

Food was good I had the fajitas.(beef & chicken mix). The food was served fast and hot and the order was all correct but once the food was here the waiter disappeared. Our drinks were dry for a good portion of the time we were there. However in the guy’s defense, he had way too many tables to cover for how busy this place was.

Wow. Completely disgusting!!! The wait staff was completely indifferent to us when we walked in. It was bad to the point that I thought maybe they weren’t open yet, and I was early. But at 2 in the afternoon, not likely. The waiter took us to our table, literally threw down a couple of menus and walked away without even taking our drink order. I always get water with lemon. I don’t do soft drinks much and I wasn’t in the mood for a cocktail. But maybe if I had a darker or cloudier drink I wouldn’t have noticed how dingy the water and glass were. It was an authentic serving of water from Mexico. No doubt… I got a combination platter and the beef burrito was actually pretty good. Nothing else on my plate remotely resembled what I had ordered. And the salad was so friggin’ watery. Beans and rice were not in short supply though. Lots and lots of filler on the plate. Not much in the way of sustenance. In short, dirty. Rude. And skimpy.

Was looking for an authentic restaurant & found La Hacienda. Skeptical at first until I saw Mexicans at the restaurant. I then knew this was for sure the reeeaaal deal! Lol. I had taco de carne asado and it wasn’t anything different. It was good but the best that I’ve had was their RICE! It was so good! Their service is okay. It wasn’t terrible but my pet peeve is when I see waiters wipe the table & don’t catch the dirt but just push it all off the table. Overall, I give it a 3 mainly because of the service.

I wanted to like you, La Hacienda. I really did. Buuuuuut Your service blows. I tried twice, but with equal experiences both times. It took forever to be acknowledged when we walked in; even longer for our order to be taken; we had to ask for refills; and it took our server, oh, 10 minutes to bring us our check(after we asked for it, of course). The servers were all too busy standing around talking to each other to actually, you know, serve customers. Makes sense. Unfortunately, the food was not worth the hassle. Grilled chicken tacos were dry, chili verde was weird, the fajitas were bland, and the salsa tasted kind of like flavored ketchup. However, the green sauce in the bottle is yummy and their rice was fluffy and quite good. In summary, meh.
