I’ve given this place a shot but last week was my final straw. Sadly, their food is decent, but if you like waiting 15 – 20 minutes for a sandwich(and this is when they aren’t even that busy) then by all means go there. I went to order a great breakfast treat, the Energy Snack. I was really excited to get this since previously I’d had it and it was great(and cheap). I ordered it from a nice enough employee and was then told minutes later that they were out of bananas and I could choose to have another fruit. That was fine, I chose strawberries. Then, minutes later, they said they were out of raisin toast(which is kind of the best part about the meal). I didn’t complain but was like fine whatever, at this point I just wanted my food. Finally, they said wait we’re out of all of our fruit. They then just proceeded to look at me and made no suggestion to what they could do for me, mind you, I’d paid already. The guy then said I could get a smoothie and that it was $ 3 extra. At that point I was just like forget it I don’t want your food and asked to be refunded. The employees are all«hippie rude» meaning they don’t care about your order or your food. It is a shame that they lack customer service which is an important part of a business’s success. I will not be going back, it’s overpriced, slow and ordering food from them is like talking to a brick wall.

Another newcomer to the Cummins. The interior is minimalist and inviting, save that odd change in the floor level that I keep tripping on. There’ve been a few misses, but generally I’ve really enjoyed their specials and their standard fare(e.g., turkey avocado). I’ve never tried the burgers or breakfast, but I’m of a mind to. Think of it as a westside Silly Goose, minus the culinary couture and couscous. Almost. UPDATE: I tried the breakfast sandwich a few times. First time was a bit skimpy. The next two were very satisfying. It seems to come with a very small(and I mean SMALL) side of fruit, which would be totally fine if the whole thing didn’t cost over $ 7, but it does.

Gang, let me begin by saying that I was really excited to hear about Joe Natural’s. Could it be that Cummins Station finally has an eatery that’s worth battling the terrible parking for – and features sustainable, fresh food to boot? Unfortunately, it’s just another mirage in the Cummins Station food desert. I ordered their two most popular hot sandwiches to go: one was a turkey sandwich with apple butter and cheddar, and the other was a turkey sandwich with carmelized onions. I placed my order to go, and stood near a corner to wait for my purchases and try to stay out of the way. Shortly thereafter, a woman who I believe was the proprietor grabbed me by the waist and shoved me aside to get by. Um, I don’t know about you, but I really don’t like it when strangers sneak up behind me, grab me, and shove me aside, especially when a simple«excuse me» would have sufficed. A few minutes later, that same woman reappeared, screeching my name and looking exasperated as she shoved the bag in my hands. A quick note about the packaging: they get props for a biodegradable plastic bag and what I believe were also biodegradable forks, but they put both sandwiches in unnecessarily large, plastic clamshell containers. Seemed like an odd choice for a place that preaches local and sustainable, especially when wax paper or something similar would have been fine. Now on to the critical stuff: the food! Unilocal’s description of the two-star rating fits perfectly here: «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» These were sandwiches that I could have easily made myself. The bread, cheese, and condiments were fine, but what really disappointed me was the meat. Usually when I have locally-grown meats, I notice and appreciate the huge improvement over pre-sliced deli fare in terms of flavor and juciness. Not so here. And the kicker was that each sandwich was nearly NINE dollars before tax. Ugh. The best part of the meal was the complimentary(if rather small) side, which I think was some sort of wheatberry or quinoa salad. The salad featured chunks of watermelon, which was an unexpected but delicious choice to pair with the grain’s savory, nutty flavor. But it wasn’t enough to make me want to try Joe Natural’s again. You’re way better off sticking with Wild Cow, Sloco, or even ye olé Whole Foods.

This is my new favorite lunch spot. Everything I have tried is so fresh tasting. When I am feeling healthy I gravitate towards the organic veggie bowl. Quinoa, fresh seasonal veggies, humus, sprouts, and avocados. This may sound too healthy for your liking but trust me, it is delicious. Their goat cheese turkey burger is also amazing. I’m always a little skeptical about turkey burgers because I have had some very dry and flavorless ones. Not here though. The burger was very juicy and loaded with flavor. Biting into a freshly made juicy grass-fed burger with huge chunks of goat cheese sounds like heaven on a plate to me. They also serve one of the best iced coffees I have had in Nashville. I like my coffee black with no sugar. Usually when I get iced coffees this way they are extremely bitter. Don’t get me wrong, I like bitter, but not to the point where my cheeks pucker in and my eyes squint. Joe Naturals iced coffee is not bitter and is slightly sweet with a subtle taste of Cinnamon. Good Job on this one guys!

A new favorite. I’m always looking for a new lunch spot and Joe Natural’s has become my new favorite. With options for half-sizes and a reasonably priced menu Joe Natural’s is now my go-to. I recommend the Beth’s Favorite, a roasted turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce & brie. Opt for the half-and-half and get the Mediterranean Salad with hummus, red quinoa, marinated artichoke hearts, lolives, mixed greens. Don’t forget to grab a gluten-free chocolate chip cookie, the best cookie I’ve had in Nashville. The best part was the speed of the service. They had our food ready before we had a chance to sit down. Excellent all around.
