Hill Center is a suburban style outdoor shopping center and is the home of Whole Foods and Whole Body. Also Anthropologie, Merrell, West Elm, Lululemon, and a few other high end retail shops. There really isn’t much to say about it other than it gets super busy on the weekends, I’ve literally seen people lining up to get in to Anthropologie as soon as the doors open. If you’re entering from Hillsboro pull left in to the first lot and park. Suck it up and walk, you won’t have to deal with as many people who try to park right next to Whole Foods. Other than it being a traffic nightmare and other then it’s lack of charm it gets the job done. I stop by WF a lot, usually early in the morning to avoid the crowds.

This place makes me feel expensive. I like that.

After reading a fellow Unilocaler’s review of Green hills Mall and noting that she visits the Hill center afterwards, I decided to check it out. I can’t believe I’ve never been here! I discovered that they have Vineyard Vines, J. McClaughlin, and Anthropologie(gasp!!) This place is awesome!!! It makes me so happy ^-^ If only they had a couple cheaper stores to balance it out… like a forever 21 or Charlotte russe.

I really enjoy my jaunts to Hill Center even if it means battling some Green Hills traffic, which by the way isn’t as bad as many make it out to be. This upscale shopping destination is an interesting blend of independent retailers such as Cosmetic Market, Two Elle, Posh, Hemline, H Audrey to big box retailers such as Whole Foods, Lululemon, West Elm, and Anthropologie. You throw in some familiar dining options such as Pei Wei, Zoe’s Kitchen, or California Pizza Kitchen and you can enjoy a whole day out here! I happen to be very proud that Hill Center/Nashville also claims one of only 6 locations nationwide for 2010CFDA/Vogue Award winner Billy Reid.(literally the Oscars of the fashion industry) Not too shabby, eh? Some say that you have to have some cash to shop here as many of these businesses are considered upscale but I can assure you that you can find some splendid sales here too! I walked into Billy Reid(swoon) today to be greeted with up to 70% off some gorgeous merchandise. Hello peacoat. Parking has never been an issue with metered and garage parking both available and the grounds are always in «Pleasantville» condition — so very clean and possibly perfect?

Pei Wei has become one of those«must go «or «must take out«food at least once a week. The management and servers are awesome, kind and friendly, however last time I sent my daughter Marieam to pick up dinner to take to a friend’s house get together… It was a disaster. My favorite signature plate Thai Curry with Basil leaves, looked different, the sauce was of a different color, there were no vegetables and overall I could not eat it, and I had to put it outside for some dogs to eat it. That was sad, I have no clue what happened, I just know I did not find myself ordering my food @ Pei Wei this week. One single experience cam ruin your point of view,(I Hope for a while only). I am sorry, you wanted the truth.

I think the Hill Center is a really neat idea. It almost reminds me of a High Street in London. it is this little neighborhood in the middle of Green Hills. You park and walk. You’ve got everything you want. Restaurants, Grocery Stores, Cosmetics, Clothes, Furniture, etc. It’s all higher end, but you can enjoy on a budget as well. I love Whole Foods, so I can be found perusing that quite a bit. I also like that they have a cross walk to the YMCA, so after my workout I can hop over and pick up the essentials. There is a parking garage, but I’ve never had to use it, I’ve found parking in the metered spaces and lot. FYI — the money put in the meters is donated to charity.

Though I’m not the biggest fan of everything found in the Hill Center at Green Hills, I will say that you won’t find a more charming shopping area in Nashville than this. When I first walked down the Hill Center I felt as if someone had taken a piece of a different city and plopped down in Nashville, and I liked it! Hill Center is home of the ever fantastic Whole Foods, a long with a lot of higher end clothing boutiques, restaurants, and furniture stores. In all its yuppie glory, it’s a great place to walk around and do some shopping with your eyes(it’s definitely stalk full of pricier stores), eating, and general meandering.

I’m glad to see that some developers in Nashville are willing to take the time to think about charm and aesthetics as well as function. The Hill Center may be a bit generic, but it still feels walkable and neighborhood-like. Inside the Hill Center is a nice mix of smaller and larger stores and restaurants. It features Whole Foods, Pei Wei, Anthropologie(yay!) and many more. I feel the Hill Center is a great addition to the Green Hills area. It matches the vibe of the area, and emphasizes its good points.

The Hill Center is a new high-end strip mall located just off Hillsboro Rd. near the Mall at Green Hills. I agree with Robin that the outdoor shopping center model is much more pleasant than an indoor mall, but I’d still pick Five Points, Hillsboro Village, or the Arcade over the sprawling, Disneyland perfection of new developments like the Hill Center. That said, I did find a new women’s clothing and accessory store here that I liked called Francesca’s. It’s expensive, but they have some neat clothes and jewelry. Other options at Hill Center include Provence café, Popo kids’ clothing, Posh clothing boutique, Zoe’s Kitchen restaurant, Whole Foods market, and Swoozie’s gift shop. Like the Mall at Green Hills, the Hill Center is dominated by high-end chains, but also offers some independent shops.

The Hill Center has been a welcome shopping, eating, and visual treat for Green Hills. Most people that know this area know that it’s old, and there has never been a set zoning rule, so Hillsboro Pike is littered with all types and sizes of signs, buildings, and restaurants, none of which are attractive at all. It’s too bad – there is such potential! As proven by the Hill Center. I love the outdoor shopping model. You don’t have to deal with an indoor mall, and in this case, you can either park on the street in front of the store you want to go to(if you’re lucky enough to get a good space!) or park in the new garage. Either way, it’s much quicker and easier than navigating through mall traffic – both vehicle and pedestrian. The shops that occupy the Hill Center are all very upscale, which is both good and bad. Good because this area needed different stores that, even if they are chains, are not anywhere else in Tennessee(for the most part). Bad, because for people like me who can’t drop a lot of dough, it can be torture! Some tips for parking at Hill Center: if you come in from Hillsboro Road or Warfield, take a right just before the Mitchell Gold and Bob Williams showroom – you’ll have plenty of parking behind those buildings. If you come in the back way(across from the YMCA), take a right into the parking garage. In this heat, it’s nice to be able to park in the shade too! Even if you don’t want to spend any money, the Hill Center is a nice place to stroll on a warm sunny day. If nothing else, stop into Whole Foods and grab a cup of gelato. Love this place!
