Been here several times and always had good food and a welcoming atmosphere. Prices are pretty reasonable. The fruit tea is good. Always gotta go with greens as a side at a place like this, and cornbread. I think my favorite entrée thus far is the meatloaf, but they don’t always have it. Highly recommended! Not sure if I’d go after dark due to the area. But otherwise great :)

I went here with friends and I must say the food was great. We went on a early Sat afternoon and surprisingly it wasn’t crowded. I had the cat fish, Mac-cheese, and spaghetti. I also got a glass of Georgia peach tea I believe it was. The cat fish was FABULOUS!!! Omg it was so good that I didn’t have to put hot sauce on it lol they had it seasoned just right and it didn’t have that fishy smell to it. The spaghetti was good and I think that was celery that was in it, anyway it was good. I never had spaghetti with celery. I love the pictures on the wall as u come in. We had no problem finding parking, however the place is located on Jefferson street which I don’t recommend going on after hours lol I’m just saying. be aware of your surroundings

How the hell you close at 8pm but around 3pm you never have any blackberry cobbler. It would only make sense to make more blackberry than peach but I guess they think differently. Other than that I rate the other food 4.0… Get it together Harpers!!!

Located near Tennessee State University, Harper’s is the best southern cafeteria style restaurant around Nashville. The fried chicken is really good an super crispy, much like Publix fried chicken. They have all sorts of stuff like mashed potatoes, turnip greens(that is really a southern dish), and banana pudding. While Harper’s is not as heavy on the butter as some other southern style restaurants in Nashville, I would definitely consider it superb comfort food. The thought of cafeteria style dinning usually conjures up thoughts of gross dim lit buffets with subpar food. Harper’s is the opposite, the food is super fresh and the folks who work there are really friendly.
