Our family has eaten here 4 times in the last 2 months. The rib rolls are great and you can sub out the chips for any other side. I’ve also had the burger(3⁄5 stars) and one of their brunch wraps, the Chorizo, twice(5⁄5 for me). The service has always been good and we have felt well taken care of. We will return.

My boyfriend and I went in for a casual lunch and were very impressed with the service, atmosphere, but most importantly the food! We stared with a cup of the chicken tortilla soup, which totally surpassed my expectations. It had so much flavor in one small bowl! We couldn’t get enough of it. I can understand why this is their house soup and a staple brought back from their old menu. My boyfriend ordered the BBQ shrimp quesadilla, which is a seasonal item, but should really be added to the regular menu it was that good! The BBQ sauce really made it. I went with the Santa Fe chicken for a lower carb option. I wasn’t aware when I ordered it that it is one of their most popular dishes, but after trying it, I can understand why! It was very flavorful and had just the right amount of spice to add a little kick to it. It was a large portion, so could be shared between two people. Would definitely order again! We had a great experience overall and will most certainly be back to try more off this wide variety menu! My new favorite place in Green Hills!

We’ve eaten here several times since my original review and I’m glad to report, much improved. This most recent visit: We started with a sushi appetizer that was out of this world; some of the best we’ve ever had. My wife ordered a bowl of the tortilla soup and a salad, and said it was delicious. My wedge salad was as good as it gets, and the prime rib was prepared to order, and very tasty. Baked potato was large and flavorful. Service was good. I’d give them 5 stars but there are still some things that are off a bit. My wife had to send her soup back to be re-heated, and it, along with my wedge, came out too soon; before the sushi appetizer. I still miss the baskets of bread, and my wife still isn’t crazy about the servers dressed in jeans and t-shirts. However, all in, a very good experience, and I certainly recommend you give them a try.

The ambience is okay, large seating available, lots of seating. The restaurant was very quiet… I guess it was a slow time. It seems that they are still in the process of training their staff as both the person at the front and the hostess seems uncertain of what they should do next. Loved the shrimp and grits though wish my hostess and confirmed that there was a larger serving. I had intended to get the appetizer but, the larger meal was served instead. Very rich dish with generous portions so took home the leftovers.

1st visit to the new location since starting a new job in Green Hills. Amazing service, perfectly attentive but not too much so, and please please put the Nashville Hot Chicken Salad on the regular menu! Delicious!

In a new location, its is quite large and has a good long bar. The restaurant has a southwest generic feel, i other words for me a charisma bypass and the service was mediocre, we sat at the bar, she was pleasant but just not attentive enough. The food was outstanding, kale and salmon salad for me and steak taco salad for my friend. The portions was perfect but it was so delicious we both agreed we could have eaten more. Price point was good and there is prime rib on the entrée menu.

I have to be honest, I’m back for three things: 1) the shrimp & grits 2) the hospitable/humorous staff(Hey Trey!) 3) the Green Hill Grille atmosphere– it feels like a place locals go. My parents grew up in Nashville and were back to taste a bit of the old and new GHG. They loved the filet mignon and the pork chop entrees. Only four stars because of the high prices. For example, the filet was $ 30 and seemed steep for what you got. We’ll be back again to try out the lunch menu hoping for more affordable prices.

This place is mediocre at best. It’s the new ruby Tuesday’s of green hills.(Ruby Tuesdays just closed). I’ve given it three chances now and all not very good. Today I had their signature item, the chicken salad melt. It was served cold, the cheddar cheese on top hardly even melted and the the English muffin barely toasted. The home made chips tasted as though they would have been fresh yesterday.(Nothing I’ve ever had here was served very warm) You can tell by the patrons that most of them remember the old green hills grill.(Which wasn’t really that good, we just didn’t have many choices back then.). I really wanted this place to make it. But based on the crowd at 12:30 today I’m no longer sure it will. Our server was nice and prompt. But he just couldn’t. Make up for the very average food. I really hope they will fix this.

From past experience, I knew that at Green Hills Grille the attention we got was more of the«norm» and not the«exception» when it came to service, food, and drink. Their philosophy of making sure that the customer has the best experience possible is practiced at all times from the seating hostess to the servers to the bus staff. The managers and owner are typically there to visit tables and even the Chef came out to be sure that everything was the best it could be. These days, you can find anything you would like to eat in multiple places, but rarely do you find such service and genuine concern for pleasing the customer. I will preface by saying that I don’t drink so I can’t comment on the beverages… but I can definitely talk about the food. OMGosh!(did I say that again?!?) We got a cup of tortilla soup for starters and it was amazing. It was thick, creamy, and full of chicken and vegetables… I could easily make a meal of just the soup with a little bread! Next came what should be their signature dish: Shrimp and Grits… I now have a new yardstick for this gem! The grits were done as a «cake» with a generous helping of shrimp over that with a melt-in-your-mouth sauce over it all. I had this as my meal on my last visit there so I when I saw that it was the appetizer, I started drooling before it ever got to the table! TODIEFOR! Next came the Rib Roll – it was okay – not my favorite. This is a «slider» with shaved Prime Rib. The meat didn’t taste like Prime Rib to me, in fact, it was very bland; but the au jus sure had that Prime Rib seasoning and helped with the flavor of the meat. And a creamy horseradish sauce accompanied it… I adore horseradish sauce… it was a great complement to the sandwich. And since we weren’t full enough(you have GOT to be kidding!), they brought out a plate of Santa Fe Chicken! This chicken breast was served over a bed of yellow rice with jack cheese, black beans, and corn salsa. It was good and everyone at my table RAVED about it, but it wasn’t necessarily my taste. Don’t let that deter you from ordering it – it was perfectly cooked and just enough spice to have a mild kick – tons of flavor! Even though we were seated together in the back area of the restaurant, it was a bit loud and a challenge to talk at our table, much less to hear the presentations that started the event. That aside, the proof was in the food, service, and the warm, fuzzy experience. We will definitely be back! P. S. The Chef told us that they now serve Brunch and though the menu is a work in progress, we found several things we want to check out! See you there!

Nice open and new space. Attentive service at a comfortable booth near the bar. Good menu choices. We started with chips ad guacamole. Then all three of us ordered Mexican dishes. One got the steak filet taco salad, the other got chicken enchiladas, and I got carnitas tacos. Plenty of foo on each dish. Flavors were not off, but slightly«not there». Also, no beer on tap. Just bottled beer, and not enough choices. Overall a nice outing and worthy of another try.

I never experienced the original grill, but this was great. A coworker and I went there for lunch. The service was quick and friendly. I had the fruit tea and the salmon salad, both were perfect! The tea wasn’t too sweet, and the salmon on the salad was cooked perfectly. We shared some artichoke dip and it was good as well. My coworker had a burger and said it was delicious — there was nothing left on his plate at the end, so I assume he was telling the truth. This is a great lunch place, and if we had been in the mood we would have sat outside. I’ll definitely be back.

My wife and I dined at the new Green Hills Grille for the first time last night. We were unsure of what to expect(especially myself, since my wife had visited the old GHG), but were in for a pleasant surprise. The owner is the same as that of Mere Bulles over in Maryland Farms, if you’re familiar with that establishment. We found an opportunity to speak with both the owner and the head chef, and were pleased to hear that they seem to extremely value their customers. They admitted to having an attitude of doing whatever is necessary to take care of the customer, and get you to come back in the door for repeat business! With that said, let’s move on to the food, shall we? We tried a host of things while there. We started with their ‘signature’ fruit tea. This is excellent! That was paired with a cup of tortilla soup. This was one of the very best tortilla soups I’ve personally tasted. It wasn’t watery and one-note, but thick, flavorful, well seasoned, and very, very tasty. We then moved on to a small app of shrimp and grits. The shrimp wasn’t my cup of tea, but the grits were served as a small round ‘cake’ and were cooked perfectly with an extremely good sauce coating. This was mixed with a Rye whiskey drink that was muddled with blueberry, blackberry, and orange, and was quite tasty also. We next tried a small sampling of their prime rib roll that consisted of shaved prime rib, an au jus, and horseradish. It was ok. The meat was cooked well, and the au jus was fantastic, but overall, probably wouldn’t order that as my favorite. Seemed to lack seasoning or spice… no pizazz. Lastly we sampled their Santa Fe Chicken as the entrée of the night. WOW. This stuff. Excellent chicken, excellent saffron rice bed, excellent black bean and corn salsa on top. I would order this dish again in a heartbeat. Pair this with the chicken tortilla soup mentioned earlier, and you’re in for a great meal! So with all this said, why the 4-stars? The only negative I have is the price. Really, it’s not that negative, but it is a tad pricy to be a regular or go-to restaurant. They are moderately equitable to other sit-down restaurants in the area, and on-par with chains, but for a place that wants you to come visit several times a week, the bill can rise quickly. Go prepared and enjoy your meal! Wish the best for this new venture and hope they succeed!

We were seated quickly and the food begins. . The fruit tea was amazing and alot of flavor, i was told it is what gave this place a great name. Started of with tortilla chicken soup with fresh tortilla blended into the soup and it was very much needed for this kinda cold evening. Soup tasted decent, i felt it did have a little bit of salt in it but then again not a big fan of salt. Next course was the shrip n grits which were creamy the perfect amount and i think it had a cool mushroom in the middle hidden. Then came one of their famous Rib Eye rolls and man were they good with the sauce provided, dip it in and have a bite you could feel flavors in your mouth. The meat was pretty nicely cooked and juicy. The last was the Santa Fe chicken which was marinated all the way to the middle and you had a nice tangy flavor in it. Overall i was pretty happy with the service provided by the staff and the owner was walking around looking for our inputs, they are still in the process of finalizing a good list but from what i understood the menu does have new comers here and there. Good restaurant with potential and hopefully will see it get better.

We keep giving them a try and it appears the kinks are being worked out. The owners were kind enough to invite me in to talk about the vision for the restaurant — we will be trying the specials consistently as it seems those items will have more bold flavors and could potentially work their way onto the menu. These guys know how to run a restaurant and what it will take to make this place stick for 20+years. Tilapia tacos sound better than Mahi to this guy.

I went there with my son to meet a friend. We were seated quickly(after the lunch rush) and had a great table on the patio. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was great. We loved the patio. It was a casual lunch so I had the margarita off the cocktail menu and it was great and my friend had an iced mocha that was so good that I left with one. I had the rib rolls which were prime rib sliders with au jus and horseradish sauce on the side and homemade chips. Delicious. My son ravaged the tacos, no sharing there! My friend had the burger and he verified it was as good as it looked. We finished with the Health Bar Pie which was delicious but hard to eat because it was still too frozen. We did polish it off though. I love local restaurants and am very glad to have found this one. We will definitely be back!

We met some friends for dinner and the atmosphere was very nice. The service did not disappoint and the food was very good although we all thought it was a little pricey. Two other in the party and me had the fish tacos and we all agreed that they were fantastic. My wife had the shrimp and grits and loved them. I tasted them and they were really good. I may get that when we go back. For desert we had the carrot cake. We should have stopped with the entrees. If compared to J. Alexander’s with J. Alexander’s Carrot Cake being a 10 on a 1 to 10 scale, the Green Hills Grille Carrot Cake was a 2. Overall, it was a good dining experience and I would go back again. I was happy to see the Green Hills Grille back after closing in 2008.

I was so excited to hear that this neighborhood restaurant was coming back to Green Hills. Unfortunately, I didn’t live in Nashville during the time period of the previous restaurant but I’d heard great reviews of the past restaurant. I also heard that the chef at Meré Bulles was heading the new Green Hills Grille up and I was like, this is a win! So I’ve been twice now and ordered the exact same thing each time. I don’t usually do that, but it was soooo good, I had to order again. What did I order?! The Pequeño shrimp and grits! I love me some shrimp and grits and these were delicious! They also have a larger portion entrée, but the appetizer size was plenty big. I also ordered a goat cheese side salad and it was so fresh and yummy! The shrimp and grits come on little grit cakes and have a delicious sauce over them. The staff are super! Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. Overall, I’d highly recommend this place! They have space to accommodate large groups, kid friendly, adult friendly, a cool patio, delicious food and friendly folk!

Overall, a satisfying experience. Atmosphere: Great! The inside is nicely decorated(still has a sort of Spanish villa feel from the previous restaurant). There is a lot of seating and a nice outdoor eating area. Clean and brightly lit. Service: Great! We went for lunch during the week and there was a lot of wait staff, who were friendly and prompt. Food arrived quickly and our server checked back in many times during the meal. Food: Good, but slightly mixed bag. I got the tortilla chicken wraps, which were very tasty. Most of our group were pleased with their dishes. One con — the chips were extremely thin + on the oily side(also crumbled up). Price: On the high side… An $ 18 salad better be damn good, and the one salad we ordered was the least popular dish at the table. Overall, a good experience!

Hopefully, they are working out the kinks. There is no buzzer system or intercom when I went a couple of weeks ago to let me know my table was ready, and the noise level was so loud, there is no way you can hear your name if you are more than 5 feet away, so you feel forced to hover, which no one likes. My friend ordered a cocktail, I ordered a Pellegrino, and when she brought my friend’s drink, but my water wasn’t ready yet, I asked if I could change, cancel my Pellegrino water and get a margarita instead. She said«I’ll try!» Given I was ordering something more expensive, I was surprised it was a problem, but the drink came and was delicious. I recognized the bartender from the Crow’s Nest, and he can make a drink. Fish tacos were beyond disappointing. It was like a fish stick in a tortilla served with tartar sauce on top. No southwestern seasoning inside the taco, no cilantro — it was weird. The black beans and rice, which I never eat in restaurants was really good! The mini elote on the plate was nice too, but the tacos were terrible. a poblano/avocado sauce, or chipotle crema would have done a lot for little effort in the way of making it more taco, less toddler. My friend’s salad was supposed to be like a chef salad, but it had slices of deli sandwich meat that hadn’t been chopped/sliced though, so her fork kept bringing up what just looked gross and careless. I might sit at the bar here and order a drink or two, but will probably not eat here again unless I hear of some changes. I like Mere Bulles, and they have done great things over there — so maybe patience is in order. The valet situation is causing all sorts of drama for that whole area. I would have maybe used the valet, but the line of cars just parked all the way out to the road led me to go park over by Chipotle and walk over — too disorganized.

When I moved to Nashville, there were very few restaurants that weren’t tired, uninspiring chains. The Green Hills Grille was one of the few, and I went there, a lot. I ended up getting my first waiting job there, and it was as great a place to work as it was to dine. It really was like a family. Everyone treated each other with kindness and consideration, and it was great to see the same guests over and over again; it was almost like we were their kitchen. Nashville really did suffer a loss when the original Grille lost its lease and moved to a bad location, and then, ultimately, closed. I’ve always had a huge amount of respect for Steve Smithing, the current owner, and was excited when I found out that he was reopening the GHG in a new location. Can lightning strike twice? Yes; it can, and it has. I had lunch there today — its first day — and was astonished and thrilled to see how crowded it was, and even more shocked to see a lot of very family faces, both working and eating there. It’s clear that it has filled a hole that has been missing from the Nashville dining scene, and it felt like everyone was happy to see an old friend. The place looks great — better than the original, I dare say — and the menu has a great combination of updated versions from the original, and some great new items. The closest comparison I can think of is, say, J Alexander’s, but this place is better. Hands down better. It has the warmth and atmosphere that can only be created by people who love what they do, and it’s clear that everyone working at the Grille does, and we should all be happy that it’s back. Don’t even think about it: just go.
