It was really cool to be at a historic place that holds so much significance for music. We didn’t do a tour, the stage was being put back together from the holiday show. We walked around the grounds which was really well maintained. The store and gift shop has many cool things to look at and purchase. The staff was friendly and greeted us promptly. Enjoyed our short visit here. Next time, I would love to see a show!

I will be the first to admit that by no means am I a country music fan, however I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to visit one of the oldest and most famous live radio shows in the nation. While on a trip to Nashville I had the opportunity to visit the Grand Olé Opry and watch a live radio show and I have to admit that I was quite pleased. Now with that being said I had tickets before I knew who was playing, however it ended up being Vince Gill and Ray Stevens. Parking is the only real downside with this facility as it shares a lot with the neighboring mall, and my only advice is arrive early, very early. Otherwise you will be parking far away from the venue. Once inside there are a variety of drink stands, and yes you can take your drinks into the venue. Seating inside is good, and I doubt there is a bad seat in the house, however you will be sitting on uncomfortable benches that look like they are right out of a church. Overall it was a great evening in this iconic venue, and I would gladly return again for another show.

If you are a country music fan, this is a must-see. A visit to Nashville without seeing the Opry is like traveling to Paris and skipping the Eiffel Tower. My face alternated between slack-jaw wonderment and cheek-busting smiles for the entire show, except those few moments when my eyes got a little misty. There were country legends and innovative new acts performing, everyone playing just two or three songs, with lots of banter and joking couching each performance. It was traditional, but not musty; entertaining, but not cartoonish; artistic, but not self-indulgent. I’ll go back every time I’m in Nashville.

I love the Grand Olé Opry — it is a classic Nashville venue and I love that it’s modeled after The Ryman. I’ve been here a few times for the Opry shows and really enjoy the fact that they have so many performers in their performances, it makes it more enjoyable and fun, in my opinion. The parking lot can be a bit dangerous for pedestrians but luckily, it’s massive so there’s plenty of parking. Staff is always helpful if you have questions and will tell you all about the history of the Opry. Great place to bring kids too! Love this place!

The Opry is an icon in Nashville and a must do if you’re in town! It’s always packed so get your tickets in advance! We bought ours not even knowing who was going to be playing and got the great surprise of having Loretta Lynn as the final act. The entire show was really good and it didn’t seem like there is a bad seat in the house. I didn’t even know it was a live radio show — but that was a cool bonus! They have beer, wine and mixed drinks as well as snack too. I opted for the moonshine and it was really good actually! The parking is insane, so don’t plan on making to anything for at least an hour after the shows over! And make sure to arrive early if you want a spot anywhere near the front!

Music never sounded so good! I was able to see The Swon Brothers, Connie Smith, David Nail, Easton Corbin, and Rascal Flats. As others mentioned, this is a radio show on WSM Radio and therefore the band/musician only performs 3 songs or so, but it is still a great time and a great way to see several artists perform. The host of the radio show, Bill Cody is a legend in his own right and is a fantastic part of the event. The venue is absolutely beautiful and is filled with amazing history. Tickets are reasonably priced and I don’t know if there is a bad seat in the house. I can’t wait to come back!

The Grand Olé Opry is a live Radio Broadcast, not a concert, and we are all the live audience/guests at that broadcast. You can expect interruptions for commercials, adjustments to acts, new musicians coming onstage, etc. It is all done very smoothly and professionally, but don’t expect a concert! We sat in the front row since this was are first time and really wanted to experience it. To say, «I saw a show at the Opry» doesn’t do it justice. To see live music — and tour backstage — at this amazing venue is truly an event, and one of my favorites, ever!

What an experience coming to the Grand Olé Opry and doing a backstage tour. Im new to the country music scene and this was an awesome experience hearing the background of this establishment. The tour was very informative, took you to some awesome areas and you were able to stand on stage and take a picture(with their camera of course) the tour was about an hour or maybe a little less. The shows are on Tuesdays Friday’s and Saturdays and I can’t wait to come back for one of them.

The Grand Olé Opry is an amazing entertainment venue, and a great value! Buy your tickets online and arrive a couple of hours early.(By getting there early, you’ll get a great parking place!) Then, you can putter around the Opry Hotel and try one of its fabulous restaurants, browse the boutiques, or just take in the beautiful scenery. After dinner, it’s just a short walk to the theater for the performance. There are a few things you need to know about the theater: You will be sitting on a very long«church pew.» A number corresponding to your ticket is affixed every ~30″ or so on the back of the«pew.» The ushers will cram every single ticket holder into that pew, whether your«back-side» is 30″ or not. There was a young woman in front of me who,(bless her heart,) was trying her best to squeeze her ample proportions into her allotted space. She was perched on the end of the seat with her shoulders hunched for the entire performance. It looked very uncomfortable. Another thing… make sure to use the restroom and limit your beverages before the show because crawling over a dozen or so laps to get out is like an Inuit test of manhood. If you can deal with the seating issues, you will have a BLAST! You MUST make plans to go to the Opry if you are going to be anywhere near Nashville.

This has been on my bucket list for a really long time and it absolutely lived up to my expectations. Though I hadn’t heard of a single soul who stepped on that stage, and even though I went BYMYSELF, I still had the time of my life and will be adding it to my itinerary every time I’m in Nashville from now on. Totally worth the price of admission! Tip: If you’re going along, spring for a front row seat. It’s amazing.

My son and I did the tour and really enjoyed it. The person who directed our tour was very experienced. You get to hear about the Country Music Hall of Fame, how it started, how country singers become a member, visit the behind the scenes dressing room, walk on the stage, take pictures and basically share the experience. If you are in the area and like country music this might be a fun choice of a way to kill an hour or so. It is close the the large Opry Hill Mall and close to Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center which is monster in itself. It’s a fun way to play tourist for a day. The concerts are Tuesday, Fridays and Saturday so if your in the area see if they still have tickets.

This was a quant performance hall, so intimate, not matter where your seat was it was a good seat. Beautiful architecture, lots of history and the sound was amazing from the performer. It WS very intimate and personal, such a great theater

Whenever you can, gotta see a show in this cathedral of country music. all silly superlatives aside, just about as intimate and amazing a venue I’ve ever been to. even pops seemed to like it. Cheryl Crowe was the guest for our private little show. she’s got a lot of Grammys for a reason. respected their wish for no pics during the performance, which is fine. She’s a class act, and deserves the best respect. list of faves included all I wanna do, soak up the sun, my fave mistake, the 1st cut is the deepest, everyday is a winding road, string enough, if it makes you happy, Steve McQueen, a change would do you good, home and closed the show with an encore performance of been a long time. just awesome.

I arrived in Nashville for the Beachbody Summit(fitness convention), and my friend got me tickets last minute as a present so I could see the famous Opry. It definitely did not disappoint! While I was near the stage, any seating arrangement here would do justice in offering the full allure of the history of why this is such a Landmark. There were some old-school country performers as well as some up-and-comers, followed by Vince Gill. Despite not being a big country fan, I had a great time! There were places to grab a bite or a drink or a souvenir, it was clean and very comfortable. I definitely recommend checking this out if you’re ever here for a visit.

This was an amazing experience. First time at GOPH and I was able to see one of my all time favorite country groups, Rascal Flatts. Hunter Hayes and Shaw Brothers were there too. Had a wonderful time with my friend… great night!

I feel like there really should be two Unilocal pages for the Grand Olé Opry– one for the tour and one for the actual show. After attending a show and then later reading the great Unilocal reviews about the tour, I definitely wish I had done the tour instead! The show itself was just OK. Here is my list of things I noted: — The Grand Olé Opry is not located in downtown Nashville. If you are visiting without a car, make sure you arrange transportation — The theater itself was really nice– definitely seemed very modern and the staff was super friendly. — The show itself is comprised of a number of acts– I think our show had maybe 5 or 6– each performing 2 – 3 songs. — The show definitely targets an older audience. There is a lot of goofy old-timey country music. If you can barely stand modern country(i.e. Kenny Chesney, Miranda Lambert, etc), you probably won’t like this show. I’m a huge fan of country, so I kinda liked the O.G. tunes. — Be prepared for a ton of commercial breaks– I was really surprised by this. I kept forgetting this is a live show on the radio. It got annoying after awhile. Especially since we paid $ 40 per ticket to watch the show. Overall, I’m glad I checked out the Grand Olé Opry, but I wouldn’t come back for another show. For a tour, maybe. It was a little expensive– especially after you factor in transportation. And there are plenty of free music options on lower Broadway.

The Grand Olé Opry isn’t just a concert, it’s an experience. It’s not just for tourists, but a great place for locals too. My wife and I love coming here, and we always enjoy every minute of the Opry shows. The live-announced commercials for Cracker Barrel, etc. crack me up. All of the artists crack jokes from time to time, making this a very lighthearted event. There are a lot of great photo ops scattered around too, like the huge guitars out front. The acoustics here are unsurprisingly fantastic. I prefer the view from the balcony actually, which also gives you a nice birds-eye view of the whole Opry House. We were fortunate enough to come during their Memorial Day salute to the troops, so everything was extra patriotic. I was absolutely blown away by the MusiCorps Wounded Warrior Band, and I was even happier to be able to thank them in person during a random lunch encounter the next day. One of the easiest places to park is Opry Mills mall. It’s free, but it’s much easier to come by during weekday shows. Getting out of the parking lot afterward can be a bit of a headache though. It’s still worth it to experience the Grand Olé Opry!

Well, you can tie me up in a hickory barrel and pickle me in moonshine. I can’t believe I’ve done 3,000 of these missives to the troops(…umm, that would be you). And then I was faced with the dilemma of what to review for my self-important 3,000 milestone. But the obvious choice was staring me in the puss. It’s a place I never dreamed of going to and yet I found myself enraptured by the experience. I’m not even a country music fan, and the NRA was having their annual convention that weekend. I only recognized one name on the bill that night and only barely. All the warning signs would have indicated I would have had an awful time at the Grand Olé Opry. But no, it was a great venue for very talented musicians, and if you have any doubt that Nashville is a music town, just come here. It’s really an experience you don’t want to miss. I made the reservation for tickets well in advance of a trip that Jamie W. and I were making to that part of the country. We had no idea who would be playing since they don’t announce the artists until a week or two before the actual date. We had our fingers crossed that it would be a group with a coolness factor like Lady Antebellum or a true legend like Dolly Parton. But alas, the only name we sort of recognized in the program was John Conlee, a Nashville stalwart who has since moved securely into Christian music. Oh dear. Jamie and I made it to the current venue which is in a suburban area east of downtown. It was built in 1974 because the weekly attendance was outgrowing the capacity of the Ryman Auditorium, the Mother Church of Country Music, which is still operating downtown and hosts the Grand Olé Opry during the winter months. Once you enter, the theater looks the same cavernous size as the Metropolitan Opera House, both of which seat 4,000. The stage looks like a very modern version of the traditional barn front where Minnie Pearl would yell out her«How-deee!» And yet the seats were nothing more than pews with the thinnest of cushion padding. We did have good seats though, about nine rows back in the center section. Because the show is also a radio broadcast, in fact the longest-running one in history, it is the most efficiently run concert I’ve ever attended. It starts promptly at 7PM and ends at exactly 9:15PM. No curtain calls, no costume changes, no exceptions. There were four half-hour segments separated by commercials for longtime sponsors like Cracker Barrel and Dollar General. They even held contests for audience members to win gift certificates. Each segment was hosted by what appeared to be a veteran of the Opry whether it was Conlee or Jeannie Sealy(photo: ). The program offered more traditional fare like mountain bluegrass from Jesse McReynolds and the Virginia Boys, smooth harmonizing from the Whites, a longtime sister act, and pure traditional country from 81-year-old Jim Ed Brown. There were several more contemporary performers like Chris Janson and Jackie Lee(photo: ). Our favorite of the evening was Mark Wills, who has been surprisingly around for nearly twenty years and had quite a strong following in the audience. He sang two solo numbers plus a duet with Joe Diffie, and we kept wondering why he didn’t have more name recognition than he does(photo: ). But maybe he does in Nashville. What do I know about country music anyway? Next to nothing actually, but you don’t need to have any knowledge to enjoy the shows they present here. I ain’t no Bible-thumping, shotgun-carrying, Jessie Helms-worshiping conservative, but I had a grand enough time at the Grand Olé Opry to make this my 3,000th review.

What a gorgeous, intricately detailed venue! I could not stop snapping photos because it’s just all so interesting at each turn. Playing at the Opry is a milestone achievement for artists and to become a member is even more so an honor with a limited amount of spots available. They have to show a continued dedication to the Opry once inducted, including playing a minimum number of shows each year. Though not the original location, it’s been the spot since 1974 where it all goes down. It’s seen a lot and been through a lot including some crazy flooding in 2010. There is a separate review for the Grand Olé Opry tour which I highly recommend and you can find the full deets in that listing. Do not skip going to the Grand Olé Opry House while in Nashville!
