My favorite place to be. I have rented pontoons several times and never had a problem with the service or the boats. I finally bought my own and am down here regularly. Parking is a b if you’re not boat club or marina renter, but that speaks to its popularity. They will let you drop your stuff off at the bottom and come back up to park if you’re visiting.

Really disappointed by my experience with Elm Hill Marina last weekend. Will not be returning or recommending to anyone I know. Long story short, my friends and I reserved two pontoons for a giant birthday party for which we had friends visiting from out of town. After tons of planning, shopping, etc… I got a call from Elm Hill at 6pm the night before the event telling me that they were sorry, but there was a problem with one of the pontoons and after trying to fix it, they determined that it was inoperable and we would not have a boat the next day. Too bad, so sad. After multiple attempts to negotiate with them, they finally agreed to try to procure a part needed to fix the boat, and told us to show up at the marina around 10 to see if they could get the second boat working– leaving us in uncertainty and completely stressing out for more than 12 hours, not knowing if we were going to have enough boats to fit all of our friends. Ultimately they did get the boat working, but by that time we’d lost 2.5 hours that we’d paid for, for 2 different boats(not to mention lost sleep and stress from having to make backup plans!). After all of that I certainly did NOT expect to pay full rental price, but Elm Hill was totally unwilling to work with us. The sweet girl at the front desk said that she could give a 10% discount on one of the boats without having to go through the owner(a measly $ 50 for a $ 500 rental), but that if she went through the owner she was pretty certain he’d offer nothing because«we ended up with a boat and that’s just the way he runs his business.» By that time I was too burned out to try to track down the owner and hold up our friends even longer. Listen, dude – run your business however you see fit. But you’ve definitely lost the future business of the 25 people on the lake that day, along with their family and friends.

We have used them for years, but the parking policy is crap at best. If you don’t want to pay to park, you have two choices. You can either get towed, or park in an extremely secluded area with no security at all. While there today(8÷11÷13) at least four cars got their windows pried out with a crowbar(including one in our party). Basically we got a that sucks, and wait for the cops to come in two hours. I can’t say that we’ll ever be back. You can take your chances if you don’t mind a day on the lake with a little possible identity theft and losing your valuables mixed in.

I love Elm Hill Marina! PROS Easy to dock Cute little restaurant The wet dock is gated with keypad entry Lots of people and lots of fun people CONS The downside is parking. It’s a beast and I usually have to walk a good mile uphill and after a day in the sun… WHEW!!!

The lake was a little below normal water level. The boats were at dock and it was quiet. I love this area in the summer time when all the boats are out. I love the sites and I love to take pictures. I will come back in the summer and share some great pictures of the boats and the water. does anyone have a boat? I am thinking about renting one this summer apparently you can rent one by the hour, ½ day or all day. not sure of the rates but I am going to definitely check into this option. sounds like fun !!!

Want to have a great day on the lake? Then DONOTUSE Elm Hill Marina. I want to preface my review with the fact that you are welcome to friend request me on Unilocal and welcome to read other stars and ratings that I have provided. I am a genuinely nice person and do my best to compliment business that are hard-working and really seek to please their customers. You will see that my reviews are more than likely nice, I am an average 4 star giver, this is my first 1 star I just wish I didn’t have to even give them that one. I have rented from Elm Hill Marina for three years now, however, after the way they treated me and my party today, I will never be back. If you had the option to pay $ 5 or have your car towed what would you pick? $ 5 bucks right! Me too… But if there was such POOR signage, and each sign stated that you were in the boat rental parking section, you would be pretty surprised to find your car towed when you got back to the dock after RENTING a boat… Well, EXPECTTOBETOWED. This has never been an issue in previous years, without warning I got to take one up the backside today. They allow you to rent a pontoon for $ 300 dollars and then nicely tow your car as you are out on the lake. What is another $ 85 bucks for the day?!? Don’t worry there are taxis waiting for you to notice your missing car that will gladly take you to the towing office. You should be warned rental boats are due back by 6pm, and the towing office(COTTONS) closes by 7pm(about 10 minutes away). If you don’t make it to the towing office by 7pm, they close. You will now pay a $ 250 fee and they will gladly keep your car overnight and you can just go on and take that taxi home($$$$$). Don’t get me wrong, I understand Cotton’s «pro towing» is a separate business, but I guarantee that Elm Hill is getting great kickbacks and perks from having such a good business relationship with Cottons. Don’t bother speaking with Sheryl Hunter, Operations Manager. She is useless and will not have very much to say when you try to understand how a business can treat customers in this way.(She is a few crayons shy of a full box). Good luck Elm Hill Marina(well not really), I will never patronize there again, and my entire party will be just as vocal as me regarding how awful you treat paying customers. So have fun at Elm Hill Marina… you can’t say you were not warned.
